Hey, this is helping me too.
-
AHHHHH I forgot about Lemonade Stand until just now!
-
Thanks again Bill. Yeah, I'm still pretty new and it's all foggy memories on Apple. Amiga was always just abstract to me as a Montana kid as I never saw one (I still haven't). I've always wondered about the monitor issue with legacy equipment. I have enough issues with an old '98 computer I was trying to use as a standalone emulator. I honestly think the IIGS is more interesting to me, but I think I need to pick and I'm inclined to pick Amiga over everything (with the HUGE price caveat).

Well, I like both arcade style (like Centipede and such) and also RPG's. I've heard Ultima is a big one for Apple. I'm more into that style of games though. I'm open to all kinds though. I loved Lode Runner as a kid and that's the one I tested on emu.

Bill, kind of what I've been gathering regarding the 1200. I'm just not sure how much additional advantage is gained with the 1200, but if I am to do it I'd like to do it right. It's a long-term thing for me as it's so expensive I'd have to save up! And, after my Astrocade debachle...I'm in the club I think. I guess learning some of these AGA, ECS, OCS, etc will help me as I have no idea what all that means!

Hey my wife called my "clutter" "garbage" the other day! I'm not alone! Thank you for all this help--yeah you've got my plan there with the emu.
-
THANK YOU!!! Yes, this is all helpful info.
-
Well, you and I are both everywhere aren't we! I'm not sure what AGA is. I've noticed these getting to be very, very expensive as of late. I noticed the games also seem expensive and difficult to obtain. I just can't believe I didn't have one of these as a kid, and had a 286 instead!!!!

What would you consider to be some really good games for these systems? That was the way I remember it on compat, but it's been since I was in grade school since I've seen one...
-
Thanks for that info...incidentally, how much/rare is a Falcon these days? As you can see by my profile photo...I'm into torturing myself with old glitch hardware. That Astrocade has put an indefinite halt to further collecting at the moment, but I'm trying to learn in the meantime! I like the feel and authenticity of the real thing for the systems that I love...but I'm trying to keep it narrow now.

Currently, I'm doing both emulation and the Youtube trick. These are systems I never knew. I love general arcade games, but also platformers and RPG's. I do not have either computer. I'm kind of trying to try before I buy, as I am looking for my next collection victims!

Hey, this is a great start! Thank you!!!! This is a great community!
-
Yes, that was stupid--that was what I meant. Lots of letters and numbers swimming around in my head any more. I'm currently emulating, so I'm really looking for 1-player games (my son needs to get older!). Faves on the 2600 include Centipede/Millipede, Mario, Battlezone, Defender 2, Breakout, tons of others--probably pretty standard. I collect for Intellivision, Coleco, NES, and Astrocade as well (so I like Wizard of Wor). I've been VERY impressed with this community and I'm still new to it. I guess it's the XL that is most compatible were I to buy one? In short, I'm basically trying to see where I'd like to expand into classic computing in the future. I grew up with PC.

Hi, I'm new to C64 and just kind of getting a feel for it all at the moment. With the gigantic glut of games, where does one start? I'd love a good collection...but since I was so young and this is all new to me I figure you all are the best to talk to.

Hi, I'm trying to learn a little about the Apple II systems. I remember being in school and we always had II varieties. How does GS differ from II/c for example? What games do you all recommend for both II and GS? Thanks!

Hi, I'm kind of getting a feel for the waters of several systems. I'm wondering where to start game-wise on the 800/xt. I would like to get an idea of what's going on with these systems as I was generally too young the first time around! I own a 2600 and various other consoles.

I would like to get an idea of what's going on with these systems as I was generally too young the first time around! I'm most interested in the Amiga above everything else.

Way to go with your Bally! Might want to try posting a separate topic with the wall wart issue, either here or on the Bally Alley yahoo group. I do know some users have extras, but I'm not sure who may be willing to part with them/how much, etc.

Haha, thanks for rubbing it in! Windows 10, 3GB RAM, 1TB drive, 2GHz. Having a much better experience of course, but it won't be a "dedicated" machine.

Thank you for the help guys. This actually served to be such a fantastic effort in frustration that I decided just to use a modern device. I appreciate all the help! Computer was just too archaic.

And by Dragonstomper, I meant Kr0tki!!!

Thanks, folks! I've had some success and some failures. 1. Still unable to get PacifiST to recognize TOS files. I don't quite understand how to work this program. 2. CCS64 ROCKS! I just need sound. 3. WinUAE works, but pretty slow and sound is garbled (1.3.0) 4. Apple is too slow to function. 5. Arcadia is too slow to function. 6. I FINALLY figured out Atari800 and it works FLAWLESSLY. I'm sure there are some tweaks I can make to improve function on some of these. Specifically, thank you Dragonstomper for the 800 info!

Thank you for the input on this. I keep getting an error on the Atari 800 emulator, I do have the necessary OS files but I cannot figure out how to get the emulator to recognize them. Any help there? Having a similar issue with the TOS on pacifist. Thank you for the Linux advice!!!

Curious, where do programs install when you use a live-CD distro like this one?
