  1. Is there anyway to use the gotek with An Amiga 500 and still keep the internal disk drive? I'm trying to cause the least damage possible to the case and keep the ability to use floppies.
  2. Oh yes, this thing is badass. I got it today--fabulous picture, absolutely worth it. New old stock!
  3. I'm so happy that I got this up and running with a 2GB higher quality card! Fired up MyDos and Millipede. It's lovely! Now if I can only figure out how on earth to format a floppy (error 144 haha). They are unmarked so I have no idea what their original formatting is, if any. Thank you all so much for your help. It would seem my 800XL was worth it; it's awesome.
  4. Oh yes, it does...thank you all. Awaiting shipment now of an Accusynch that is the exact same model as used by the original owner...so, should be fine now! I hope!
  5. I'll try all of that in a last-ditch effort when I get home from work. I think you may be on to something. Yes, of all these classic computing and console add-ons that I've dealt with this one has been by far the most difficult and confusing to set up with only skeletal documentation. I just want to enjoy my new (to me) 800XL! You guys are pretty cool; thank you.
  6. I'm trying a different set of images to see if they display differently. If not, I think there is some sort of language or other issue on the display out of the box and I'll need a replacement. We'll see what happens. No matter WHAT I do, I can't get past the initial SIO2SD.XEX screen into any sort of menu. I also cannot get any readable output on the lcd screen.
  7. I went to the store last night and they didn't even have anything less than an 8GB card. I've only got the SIO2SD hooked up now. I did buy a Centipede cart a while back to make sure the system is working--it is. I'm not sure if there is a language setting on the SIO2SD, but when I try to browse files on it they come up in a mixture of Japanese and gibberish. I really think there is something wrong with the SIO2SD itself. I've contacted the person I bought it from. I'm REALLY frustrated because I really want to use it!
  8. I tried that too. I used 3 cards all 8gb
  9. Have tried all sorts of things now. I still have the cfg tool screen, K3 puts me to a screen that is garbled, and all I can get on the display is the small message displayed above. I'm wondering if my card is not compatible? It's 8GB. 3.1 firmware.
  10. Ok that basic setup link helped a lot but still missing something. Renaming sio2sd.xex finally got something on the screen but only this far. At this point I am stuck.
  11. I really have no idea what's going on. I tried what you guys suggested, and I used three different SD cards. I didn't get a boot on any of them, and as the system started I got the following message on it. I will also include a picture of the rig.

  13. OH. OK, I'll try and figure this out and report back. I guess I was figuring I'd have more of a "menu" with MyDOS
  14. Oh, do I have to wait to actually insert the SD?! I'm going to presume that until I get home and/or hear otherwise!
  15. OK, so I know how to set the 1050 drive number, but not the SIO2SD I guess.
  16. So far as I can tell, maybe I'm making a mistake there? As I said, I'm completely new. I only see one serial input possible?
  17. I'm not at home, but it's merely the unit plugged directly into the SIO port of the 800XL. At first I had it hooked up to a disk drive, but now it's direct until I'm sure it will work.
  18. For the life of me, I can't get this thing to boot nor to recognize the games I have on the SD card. I have them just as instructed, in alphabetical folders in an "ATARI" root folder. I have downloaded the suggested menu and myDOS. Booting with it direct to SIO just takes me to the system tests. Not sure what I'm doing wrong on setup. I'm sure it's something simple, but I am stumped.
  19. My TV is hard to see, but it's 126,250 on mine. Level is tough to see, but it is 16.
  20. Oh, Adam...I came so close...gave it another try. I did, however, make it to level 16...where things start getting real crazy real fast. There are submarines everywhere and your head starts to spin with movements seemingly in all directions. ALSO, I'd like to add an entry for Orion Miller, perhaps he can just be "Orion" on here. He is my 5 year old son. This underscores the lack of difficulty. He loved the game and made it on one try to level 5. He thought it was very, very cool.
  21. Complete newbie, have 800XL, SIO2SD (new), and disk drive. 1. I can't seem to figure out how to start DOS. Can this be done without a disk? From SIO2SD? I have no clue and I can't figure out how to get the unit to work as I've put the images and the folder on the SD card. 2. Can this item be "piggybacked" on a floppy drive? I really want to write some floppies from the SIO2SD, but I have no clue how to do it. Online info seems to be scarce. Thanks a ton!!!!
  22. it's a tv that I cannot determine accepts 15khz. I'm working on getting a display that does, but I didn't know if this would function well enough. It doesn't have a VGA input. You were correct in the setup. The multisync is the next step.
  23. Well, I'm finally getting somewhere...slowly...with this Amiga. I do have an old LCD-style TV that I'm using for my 800XL and my C64. I tried using a VGA-Svideo/composite device for the TV in conjunction with the Amiga to VGA adaptor. To my surprise, this results in a fantastic image...HOWEVER, it's in black and white only. Is there any way to remedy this? I'm a complete novice and I'm trying to avoid buying a (4th) monitor... **Addition** This is an NTSC 500.
