  1. Yeah, I am wondering if it is the console itself that has been causing most of my problems. Someone on the Facebook page mentioned trying to install a switch to "turn off" the in console imbedded ram expansion. I don't know if that is possible, as I don't know how the guy did the modification.
  2. Man, I wish I knew what all that means! I'm not even going to pretend I can understand that. I like your XB though! It's great!
  3. No. RXB is the first and only I have ever used. Like I mentioned, it works fine on my other console. It only acts up with my modded console.
  4. Ok, so. I picked up a RXB 2015 cartridge. First off, I love it. It's fantastic! But, I'm having one problem. When I use it with my F18 modded console with 32k ram expansion built into the console, and my CF7+, it works well for a minute or two, then the screen goes all crazy and the system locks up. I do not have that problem with any other cart. TI extended basic 110 works fine, as does every other cart I have. When I use the RXB in my non-modded console, and my nanoPEB, it works perfectly. No problems at all. It's great. Is there a known compatibility issue with RXB and internal 32k mod and/or with the F18 or CF7+? Or could there be a problem with the cartridge port on that particular console? Every other cart works fine. I tried it without the CF7 connected and it still went haywire after a few minutes. Man, I get some doozies of problems..lol. Nothing is ever easy. Any ideas? Anything I should look for on that console? Thanks guys, I know I'm a pain in the ass.. Dave.
  5. Just because I had to try, I "borrowed" my girlfriends tv. The TI looks much better! I guess the RT is a little finicky, or maybe my tv is just a p.o.s. Either way, the TINK works well, and it is a very cool device. It's great. It was worth the wait.
  6. I must say, I am quite pleased with the results I'm getting with my 64 and Vic 20, they look fantastic and the sound works properly for me. The TI...not so much. The text is MUCH SHARPER than with the composite cable, but I am disappointed in the colors, they are off. And they bleed together. Reds look brown, ect. It could be my tv. I don't have many options to adjust color and stuff on my particular television. I get better results with composite cable for overall enjoyment of my TI. Nothing can compare to the f18 mod. That reigns supreme, for sure. I think I will keep looking for a old CRT flatscreen, The TINK works well, it does, but money would be better spent on a proper monitor or old CRT Television. At least for the TI.
  7. Yes! My RT showed up in the mailbox today! I am excited to try it out. I won't be able to mess around with it until tomorrow after work, but that's ok. I'll let you know if I get the same results as you guys did. Both with the TI and my C64.
  8. I was around 13 or so experimenting with computers in school, during lunch or study hall, my AV group had a loan program, where you could borrow a computer and bring it home like borrowing a library book. I brought home a timex sinclare for a weekend. I didn't know anything other than the "Hello World" but I sure had fun watching my friend who knew EVERYTHING work his magic. My father and I were at Ames, a general store, kinda like a Kmart a few weeks later. There was a TI99/4a sitting on a shelf with the price knocked down to $49.99. The last one. Please Dad? He said..grab it. It's yours. I couldn't wait to get home and open the box and see the brilliance of that beautiful computer. Of course, I still knew nothing other than the "Hello World", but my friend did. We spent hours upon hours programming on that machine, he taught me how to define characters and make them animate. We typed in programs from the magazines, we made our own text adventures, we had fun. Good clean fun. I still have that original TI my dad bought for me, all those years ago. I cherish it. Thanks Dad!
  9. I will be happy if it works well with my TI, because my f18 modded console does not get along with my cf7+ and I can't use my nanoPEB because my f18 console has 32k expansion built in....so.. If it works with my OEM TI, I will be happy. The C64 would just be a added bonus. I hope that made sense...lol.
  10. With much less enthusiasm than I had, 2 months ago, I'm still waiting. Maybe it will be fine....haha. Yeah.
  11. I've thought about this topic, and remembered this. Is it possible your monitor/tv is not thrilled about the TINK? Maybe on a $98 Walmart LED tv it might work! Maybe...maybe...please! Lol. I will try it and hopefully be pleasantly surprised. (Grasping at straws..)
  12. Well, that blows. I was really hoping for it to work with the 64. I've been waiting for over a month for mine to ship (I knew it would be a wait, so that's ok). But the results of your tests are very disappointing. I do have nintendos and stuff to use it with but I use my computers way more than my consoles. It was a gamble, I was aware of that....oh well. Maybe I can sell mine if it turns out to be useless to me. Thanks for sharing the outcome of your tests.
  13. @OLD CS1 You wouldn't possibly also have a C64 you could try...would you? I'm very curious if the TINK works with that as well. It will still be a few weeks until mine arrives...
  14. This is probably a stupid question, but did you use a power supply, like a cell phone charger to power the retroTink? It requires a power supply.
  15. Ouch! Sorry to hear that.. The tv I use for my stuff is a older RCA led tv. A couple years old anyway. Not 4K. I think it's 720p. Or something like that. 23 inch screen. I hope you get things sorted out. That sucks.
  16. I certainly hope so. I do hope it works as intended. If it does, they are going to sell like hotcakes. I am sort of miffed that my particular order got delayed for another couple weeks, but it's cool. Maybe I missed the window of wave 2 shipments by a minute or two. I thought my order was in on time...November 25th. Oh well.
  17. I would assume (lol) you should have it within the week. I don't know why mine is delayed...it's cool. I can wait. For a little while longer. Maybe demand overwhelmed the supply..
  18. Looks like mid-January shipments for mine. Did yours show up yet? Does it work?
  19. Still no word if mine shipped yet. I just checked the Castlemania site, no update there either..
  20. New blog post on Castlemania says shipments will start on 12/20.... That's cool, as the late great Tom Petty once said..." The waiting is the hardest part". Lol. I hope it's worth it.
  21. According to the Castlemania web site (where I ordered my retroTINK). shipments will begin on 12/15. I sure hope it works as intended. I don't mind waiting, something to look forward too. But using my TI without the VGA mod on my LED tv hurts my eyes. I guess I got spoiled by the f18... I will update when it arrives.
  22. I have figured it out, and it really is easy. CALL MOUNT(1,5) loads disk number 5 into drive 1. CALL UNMOUNT(1). Removes disk 5 from drive 1 and replaces it with disk 1, automatically. The drive is never empty. There is always a disk in it. It is simple, but it can be confusing at first.
  23. Yes. Call Unmount actually mounts the default volume (aka..disk) in that particular drive. Yes it is confusing. Yes, I'm just as confused about disk managment as you are. If one of the brighter TI gurus could write a disk managment tutorial for dummies regarding the CF7/NanoPEB it would be well received.. Please?
  24. This has been an ongoing topic of confusion with me. From what I understand call unmount(1) will in fact mount dsk1,Volume 1 I guess it just defaults to that. I also have f18v1 I have a topic..."CF7+ question". It may be buried a few pages in, but there is some knowledge in the responses in that post. I hope that helps, I'm still a noob.
