Thanks for posting this Anthony!
It was great to meet Ash, we had a cool time working on the Neo Geo and then later on playing some games once the work was done. Ash will be posting a video on his own channel of the gameplay, which I'm sure he'll be happy to post on here too.
Hope you enjoy the battery mod!

Really great meeting you too Ash, thanks so much for the kinds words! I look forward to playing more Neo Geo with you at some point soon

We had fun! Meeting Rich was great and he's done a superb job on tweaking bits and fixing a few concerns on the cab. Goes without saying he's a real asset to the retro and arcade community and a good guy. I really appreciate all his input and advice and I'm stoked with the heklp he's put in.
The battery modification he made to the PCB is in the can! literally. I've filmed the whole thing and edit is due to start this week, expect it sometime soon on his YouTube channel and another video of our gaming session to follow shortly after. Needless to say he annihilated me but next time I'll be prepared.
Thanks again,
Ash

Hi
If you remember a little while back Anthony linked to my Neo Geo MVS Restore video. I talked about reproduction EL Panels for the mini marquees which I'd had made by a company called Surelight here in the UK. I've continued to work with Surelight and we've got even better panels now, which can be purchased from their site which I've linked below. There is also a guide showing how to fit them which I provided the pictures for.
Enjoy!

Hey guys
I have been talking to a guy who is also from the UK called Ash who runs RetroGamingBlog (link below). He made a cool documentary style review of the Analogue Interactive CMVS which you hopefully will enjoy!

Awesome stuff there Rich. I had a DHL package arrive today, and it was a donation, which is always a pleasant surprise.
This will be interesting to review, as I'll be able to compare my MVS games to this emulation box and see how it holds up, as well as try some CPS2 and CPS3 games and see how they hold up. I personally haven't tried any emulation multicades like this before, so this will prove to be most interesting. How is the Elf?
Thanks Jarrod!
What a nice surprise for you getting a donation! I've not seen one of those.
The Game Elf is not the best, although I've not made comparisons with other multicade boxes myself personally. The Elf is more quantity over quality. I own both the 412-in-1 vertical and the 619-in-1 horizontal cards. I actually only bought one board (module) and then got a guy on a UK forum to program me another SD card for about 20 quid as they are linked to the serial number. That way I didn't need to buy another Game Elf, I can just swap the SD cards and rotate my Dell monitor inside the cab :-)
Donkey Kong, Pac-Man, Galaga, Galaxian, Qix and stuff work just fine. Asteroids does not, I guess it really doesn't like not having a vector monitor. On the horizontal board, all the Street Fighters are a little rubbish, but other games like Progear run just fine. On and vertical Don Pachi and Do Don Pachi are fine. There you go a random selection. However, I guess you're interested in the Neo Geo games really, and some are OK, others are not. I don't play them, they're not a patch on the original hardware which I guess is the bottom line here. MAME is the way forward with these I think.
I've heard Pandora's boxes are good, but not tried myself. I guess maybe I'm a bit of an arcade snob now being spoiled with the actual hardware LOL If I were going to go down the emulation route I'd set up a PC and MAME with Hyperspin or something, and get an actual Arcade monitor for the cab.
Look forward to you testing out that thing on your Supergun

Greetings Neo Geo lovers

My friend Glen is a photographer, and he was kind enough to photograph my Neo Geo 6-slot MVS Electrocoin Arcade and the rest of my collection. I've uploaded them for your viewing pleasure.
The MVS is a restoration project. If you're interested in the work I've done so far, and what I intend to do next please feel free to watch the video linked at the bottom of this post.
The most recent work I've done is to have custom made reproduction EL Panels made by a company in the UK called Surelight Matt Heald there was extremely helpful as he's a keen arcade collector and gamer himself. I've put a link to his Twitter below too for your info. I worked with Matt to design the panels and they sent me a prototype. Once we'd finalised the design I got the other 5 made, and I'm extremely pleased with the results!
So without further ado, please see my Neo Geo and the rest of my collection. The JAMMA Multicade has two 1-slot Neo Geo's, a JAMMA Game Elf and... A Hyper Neo Geo 64 which currently has Samurai Spirits 64 playing in it! I own all 4 of the fighting games for this system and will be doing a video about it soon. I built the cab from a kit and made many custom parts for it myself. Again, I intend to do an in depth on this cab at some point.
I hope you enjoy these! Please let me know what you think, and feel free to ask questions.

Hi guys,
I'm thrilled to see members from the Atariage forums that are from Australia like Richard Evans and AusRetroGamer participating on the Neo-Geo thread as of late. To continue on with the great gamers from the continent of Oceania, were back with another fellow Australian player by the name of Christopher Bentley from Leftover Culture Review.
Mr. Bentley did a great video regarding Sengoku 1 & 2 for the NGCD that will make you what to appreciate the series on the CD unit. Its nicely done to say the lease. He did other excellent uploads that will be to everyone's liking for the Neo-Geo and other units in video gaming. If you have a change, feel free to view what Chris has to offer. We would like to see more from him in the immediate future!

Anthony...
Thanks Anthony, nice of you to mention me it's good to be here. I'll check this video out later!
By the way, I'm from the UK. It's great to have friends all over the world, and I'm particularly pleased to be good friends with Alex from AusRetroGamer in Australia. We've been chatting for around a year now, and both have a love for Retro Gaming, and in particular Neo Geo!
Just to further plug his sites and social media (which are excellent) here is his Twitter
https://twitter.com/ausretrogamer/
And his main E-Zine site;
Enjoy!

OK guys, here is my video on the Neo Geo X Jailbreak by OMG-SNK. It's a long one I'm afraid (oooohhhh Matron!)
I don't edit my vids having only just started out on YouTube, and it's all done in the first take. I think this is probably good enough reason for me to start editing them! But, I did want to credit all who suggested games for the video, which I've done and listed them in the description.
Remember, I'm not reviewing the Neo Geo X itself, and please be gentle, I know this system gets a LOT of hate :-) But I like it, especially with the Jailbreak. It's helped me decide which games to buy for my MVS too.

Hey buddy,
Great Video by the way! I have not played Zed Blade, I should give it a play! Thanks for the Idea! I have to hand it to you it shows why you are a multiple time world champ! Once again great job and thanks for participating! How is that restore on the extra Neo Geo board going by the way? Happy Gaming from across the "pond!"
-Aaron
Hi Aaron
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it! Zed Blade is really cool. As you've seen Anthony and I discussing, the music is fairly awesome as well a the gameplay. It's a manic game.
I'm going to play viewpoint some more. I would like to try and get good at it. I've checked some high score sites and some of the scores are immense!
Happy gaming to you too!

OK guys, here is my Viewpoint video as promised. Watching it back I make some amusing noises when things aren't going well LOL
It's the first time of trying my new mic too, as I've recently got into youtube and want to start improving things little by little. Still not editing my video's yet, all done in one take so please be kind :-) Hope you enjoy the video!

Really? That's amazing to know, I didn't realized you and Michael Trier are friends. That's great to see some friendly competition between you two and show how much dedication you both have. Glad to see him particiapating on the Neo as always. Does he have a Twitter or YouTube channel that others can follow?
Anthony...
We became friends after I joined Twin Galaxies by beating his Pulstar world record. He was very friendly and we've been competing ever since.
We founded the Blazing Star and ZuPaPa! scoring tracks on Twin Galaxies together and we're likely to do more. He isn't on Twitter, but he does stream on Twitch. He has many arcade games including a Neo Geo MVS and an Asteroids Deluxe in his game room which he calls "The Shed" http://www.twitch.tv/the_shed_arcade

That's excellent Richard. Feel free to post it onto the thread and we will love to see it. I still have to show everyone the Pulstar video that you made. Really a fun video and worth seeing over and over again.
LOL Yep, Zed Blade soundtrack. really gets the move going to get things done in a happy matter!

Anthony...
Feel free Anthony. I'm quite proud of that Pulstar video since it's the current Twin Galaxies world record for the game

To be fair though, I've only beaten one other guy to get it, even though it is a high score. The guy I beat is called Michael Trier from Denmark, and he's now a friend of mine. Incidentally, he's just beaten my previous Blazing Star world record today. However, I have a higher score going through adjudication right now so in about a week I should reclaim my title... for now... until Michael or someone else beats it again. That is what records are for though, it's a lot of fun. When Michael submitted his latest score I though I would never beat it. A week later I did :-)

So true Richard.
Growing up playing View Point, I would spend so much in arcade tokens just to play and never would get passed the first stage!
I purchased an AES version of it and still play it with my brother (which is his favorite Neo-Geo title
). Happy to see you going to do a video of it!You're right, Zed Blade has a great soundtrack. I go on YouTube and listen to it when I have to do some cleaning around my rooms to make the experience more enjoyable!

Anthony...
Ha ha, you like some old school raving then? :-) I love the Zed Blade soundtrack, it reminds me a lot of The Prodigy's earlier stuff.
Viewpoint video is uploading now to youtube...
I did OK considering I've not played it in months and have never really spend much time playing it. I have left it in the MVS now so I can give it some proper time. Who knows, maybe I will found the scoring track on Twin Galaxies for this game as it's not currently featured and I have enough submission points... Better get good at it first though eh?-

Hi Everybody,
Here is a link to me playing some Viewpoint on my Neo Geo MVS! I hope you all like it and upload your own videos to see how everyone fairs! Week 3 of the Neo Geo Challenge, here is the link below! Thanks for the support everybody, and thank you Anthony for the idea for the video!
Happy Gaming,
Aaron Classic Gamer
Hey Aaron
Viewpoint is a great game but extremely hard! I am lucky enough to own a copy so I will pick up your gauntlet and record a vid now
not played in ages.Yes, Blazing Star is one of my favorites and also Pulstar. I have Zed Blade too, have you checked that one out? Great soundtrack.
Anyway back soon with vid...

Well, I headed off to ebay recently, determined to punish the heck out of my wallet, and now have a couple games on their way to me.
I grabbed a second KOF '98, because the copy I have currently, though legit, seems to be missing some of the character intro sounds. I think it is anyway--its hard to say, but KOF 97 and 99 sure have more of those type of sounds. It might be a system board compatibility issue too--I ran into some of that with rage of dragons. It was super cheap (under $20 shipped) so I really wasn't going to pass it up anyway. Hopefully this one sounds a bit more polished at intro time.
I also pulled the trigger on Art of Fighting 3--one of the prettiest Neo Geo games, especially amazing since it's a 96 release. Sprites are huge and the animation is fluid. Stages are fantastic, and the whole art style is a huge upgrade from AOF2. I hope it plays a bit better than the first two as well--for some reason the fighting style/rhythm of those just feel a little 'off' to me. One thing that I'm really noticing is how terrible the music is on this one. It's all kind of a loungy, soft-jazz versions of familiar tunes. Low-key stuff that really saps the 'epic' from the fights. What were they thinking?
I own Art Of Fighting 3 and love it. Like you say great graphics and plays really well. I'm not bothered by the music as I've not played the first two at any length so perhaps I'm spared hearing familiar tunes ruined
but I do agree, not the best music in a fighting game. Overall though I've had this in my MVS quite a bit!-

Another uninformed video. There are exactly zero converters that allow AES games to be played on MVS.
Yes, there are only converters for the other way around right? I personally didn't like the sound of his plans for the Neo Geo. Replacing the CRT with an LCD and the buttons with light up ones, yuk :-) Still, it's his system and he can do what he likes, each to their own. So long as he's happy with it and he enjoys playing the games that's the main thing.
But... his wife is very cool for getting him the Neo Geo in the first place and I do like that 4-slot Big Red model!

Hi Richard,
Thank you for coming by and for posting. Seeing these videos from you make it look so simple. I have to post your Pulstar video on the thread as well. That was a fun video and glad you hold the record at Twin Galaxies. I'm sure you can surpass the MAME record with no trouble. Your the Neo-Geo pro!!

Can't wait to see your Neo-Geo X jailbreak video soon Rich. Were all looking forward on viewing that!
Anthony...
I will be doing that video hopefully this weekend. I've been a little preoccupied with regaining my Blazing Star top score, and although it's not verified and accepted into the Twin Galaxies database just yet, it's looking good at the moment.
I have a list of games suggested by friends on Twitter that they would like to see featured in the video on the jailbreak, so I will be crediting those people. I won't be playing each for long as I'm not reviewing the games themselves, just talking about the jailbreak but if you're interested the list so far is;
Magician Lord
Nightmare In The Dark
Samurai Shodown 2
Metal Slug
King Of Fighters '98
Windjammers
King Of Fighters '95
Garou Mark Of The Wolves
Neo Turf Masters
Twinkle Star Sprites (from you Anthony!)
Blazing Star
Shock Troopers
Mutation Nation
Most of these are actual official releases on the Neo Geo X, but since I wanted to make it interactive I'm going to feature them anyway. I also intend to show a numbers of games which are not official releases and only available with the jailbreak. I've yet to decide on these, but would be happy if anyone wanted to suggest some on here maybe? For info, the list of official games is available here so these can be avoided ideally;
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neo_Geo_X
Not all games work on the jailbreak. I know for example that Aero Fighters and Viewpoint do not work, but I think all the other Neo Geo titles do.
The Neo Geo X got a lot of hate which I don't think it deserves. With the jailbreak it's a fantastic emulation system for Neo Geo and may other systems. It's allowed me to play all the games and decide which ones I want to buy for my MVS and the focus of my video will be on these positive points rather than an in depth review of hardware that's been done many times on youtube.
I hope you guys enjoy it once I've done it and published! :-)

Hi guys,
Back again with Andrew from TheBackoffice doing another nicely done video with Shock Troopers. Andrew literally had a blast playing this title and so will you. Enjoy.
Anthony...
Ha ha, he mentioned me again (I'm Retro Rich on Twitter) and I did indeed recommend this to Andrew. Love Shock Troopers. Have this and and Shock Troopers 2nd Squad on MVS. I think if I had to choose, the first one is the best but I enjoy both.
Enioy!

Hi guys,
Back again with fellow Atariage member, Richard Evans.
Richard has been hard at work playing Blazing Stars for the MVS and he continues to starve for excellence. To continue on with his endeavors as a professional Neo-Geo player, Richard will try to surpass his current record and submit his results to Twin Galaxies for pending approval.
Can Mr. Evans achieve greatness? You bet!

From the description,
"This is me playing Blazing Star on my Neo Geo MVS. The score is 6,659,910 which I am submitting to Twin Galaxies.
Real shame I died just short of completing the Stage 3 boss because in addition to the level completion bonus, I would also have got 150K for having all 5 LUCKY panels. My score would have been heading up to 7 million I think. Next time... I'm still pleased with this as it's a massive improvement over my last score of 2.69 million."
Anthony...
Thanks Anthony!
I appreciate you sharing this and hope people like the video. I need to keep working on this game as I died in a very silly way near the end. I'm sure I can do much better :-)
I need to get working on Pulstar again too, as although I hold the Twin Galaxies record I'm sure I can better this score too. I know it's not a comparable scoring track, but I'd personally like to beat the MAME record for this game too as I have with Blazing Star.

Hi guys,
This evening, were with fellow Atariage member and Neo-Geo professional Neo-Geo player, Richard Evans.
Richard was recently interview by the good people from down under called, AusRetroGamer. ARG is a E-magazine from Australia that was able to discuss Neo-Geo and other video game related topics. A nicely done article that shows the professionalism and excellence on what Mr. Evans has to offer.
Enjoy this thumping good read everyone!

OK, here you go then. My weekly challenge for week 14 - Blazing Star. Generally I'm good at this game, but as you'll see in my video if you're out of practice it really shows! LOL
I said I would not practice before, and that this would be my only take and I've stuck to that as you'll see.
Enjoy!
