Excellent! BTW: Where was the size of the sprites decided?
-
That's good news.

11 more reviews, mainly by Chad Polenz (his old review links seem broken) http://www.vgmuseum.com/reviews/2600/
-
BTW: Is your To Do List getting longer all the time. Or are you already catching up`?
-
How do you unregister from AA? :x

Agreed. They should become less sticking out. Either by changing the color or by making them thinner.

This (screenshot from FF) doesn't look very good too. In Opera we have the same problem, execpt that the rounded borders are missing and the "jump to" and "next page" arrows aren't taller than the other buttons.

Opera 9.64: 1. 0/102/153 (mostly), 2. 0/120/168 (for the tabs e.g. Forums and the Pac-Man icon), 3. 20/102/153 (for the upper ~40% of the top bar (Have You Played Atari Today?) 4. 13/109/158 (for the upper half of the bottom bar) Firefox 3.52: - 0/102/153 (identical with Opera) - 0/122/170 (0/+2/+2) - 20/103/152 (0/+1/-1) - 13/110/158 (0/+1/0) Safari 4.03: - 0/102/153 (identical with Opera) - 0/122/170 (0/+2/+2) - 20/103/152 (0/+1/-1) - 13/109/158 (identical with Opera) So the values are quite identical. Actually Firefox and Safari are even slightly more off the major dark blue than Opera. Maybe your colors come out diffently, which could be due to your OS or the color profile of your graphics cart/monitor?

Yes, except for the "New Content" page.

From the names I guess those are propietary. Not a very good idea to use propietary stuff, IMO. EDIT: Found those properties are called experimental. Maybe that helps for Opera: http://home.e-tjenesten.org/~ato/2009/08/border-radius-opera Makes sense, as it seems to be a matter of CPU speed. And I am seeing it fewer now too.

Another minor rendering bug: The user menu at the top right has no rounded corners with Opera (9.64). I just installed Safari to give it a brief try. JavaScript seems to be faster, but overall it "feels" slower than Opera. At least at AtariAge.
-
Release candidate currently, final release 1st September. It has a JIT Javascript compiler. Much faster than now (and even that's way faster than IE8, not to mention IE7 or 6). Though not quite as fast as FF 3.5, Chrome or Safari.
-
About the same amount of data, but a bit faster display. Maybe due to less Javascript. My Athlon 2000+ isn't very fast anymore. I hope the JIT Javascript compiler of Opera 10 will help here.
-
No idea. Though it is noticably slower, the new one still works good for me, except for the a bit irritating popup on the upper right while loading.
-
Down to ~180k and ~65k with caching.
-
Maybe he doesn't like, that e.g loading this website requires more than 400k. And opening the Reply screen takes more than 250k. Or he uses IE which is known to be extremely (6) to still very (8 ) slow at Javascript.

The name of the footpedal is QuickJoy SV 129. Here is someone selling it used at eBay Germany. And e.g. here you can get a new one for 4,95€ plus shipping.

IIRC quotes were included. I often followed discussions by email only via my mobile phone. And currently sometimes they are included and sometimes not. Richard H. has just posted a reply to a topic that you have subscribed to titled "Are you going to buy a Harmony cart for the Atari 2600?". ---------------------------------------------------------------------- ------------ QUOTE ---------- To help raise some money ----------------------------- Why not take some money in for pre-orders ? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The topic can be found here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=144469&view=getnewpost

Another thing I noticed: In the email notifications, sometimes the quotes are removed, e.g. in your reply to me above. Which makes following a conversation by email almost impossible.

http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/149523-homebrew-shop-pal/page__view__findpost__p__1824531 Please check my post above. For some reason my reply is duplicated and contained inside a quote. I tried to edit it, but there is no double text. EDIT: Found my error. I forgot the closing bracket after the timestimp. That caused a very weird result. IIRC the previous forum warned you about missing close tags.

The game is switchable between PAL(-60) and NTSC, but IIRC that very version has a bug, that the switch pauses the game. The NTSC colors work with PAL too. So for PAL, you maybe better buy the current version from the AA shop (ask Al, even though the shop is closer ATM). It supports the same controllers, but comes without the nice box and the footpedal. But it has better music and some bug fixes. Then you should look for a footpedal. It is pretty common and cheap in Europe. The limited edition is expensive, it costs 75€ IIRC, the current AA version goes for just $25. Glad you like it. And yes, its the only trakball mode Atari 2600 game. I can't tell for the 7800, but converting the 2600 version will not work. The display is (unlike Missile Command) very busy and the trakball requires polling during the display time. So there is not enough CPU time left for doing that. Sorry.

The limited Thrust DC+ Combat Edition can be bought from Marc Oberhäuser here in Germany. BTW: Marc handles the orders and has the packs already. Just in case someone is worrying.
-
You have to try out............. Try programming a game from scratch for the 2600 or try to learn German. Both are tough!
