  1. He told me the producers of HALT AND CATCH FIRE (on AMC) purchased a ton of his inventory. My wife and I enjoy the show as it's not really anything close to a documentary, yet they skirt around many issues of the 80s-90s computing days. One of the main characters worked at TI (speak and spell product) and mentioned the power supply problem and cancelling the TI-99/4 during one episode. Weird part: I've watched every episode with eagle-eyes yet haven't noticed ANY TI hardware on the show. Zip! Lots of PC and Commodore stuff, a bit of Atari. Fun show though. I enjoy hitting pause and explaining references to She-who-must-be-obeyed. Thinking the producers must have tossed everything they received from Waterloo into the Hollywood landfill.

I think I remember seeing a PEB on a shelf in that guy's garage in the first season

  2. I just got a TI disk controller on Ebay to replace the one I ruined. Assuming the seller is honorable in his evaluation that the controller "works perfectly", I need to figure out what could be wrong. My previous controller worked fine with my PHP 1250 drive and my Lothartek HXC, I plugged them both in initially, and when I start up the system with XB 2.7 and try to list a directory, the TI drive spins up nothing is displayed and then it goes back to the main menu. Same with the HXC. I went into disk manager and it claims that neither drive is initialized which I know is not correct. I tried just one drive each, same result. I tried initializing a new disk, and got disk error 31.

Is there something I might be missing, or is this controller most likely hosed?

Any tests that you recommend I try?

  3. I may have gotten confused with several projects around here.

I want to be clear, this is a 32k ram expansion for the side port that replaces the need for 32k in a PEB or replaces the 32k internal ram mod correct?

No other bells whistles features or doodads right? An amazing accomplishment for sure, just trying to set my expectations properly, it can not; for instance, core a apple.

I'm sorry, if this doesn't core fruit, I'm out. :)

  4. The MIST C64 core does have Jiffydos included. I think i got the first version with Jiffydos about a month ago. Also, while the C64 core doesn't currently support cart images, the Vic20 core and several others do, so it is definitely possible and will likely show up on the C64 core at some point.

    How do you activate JiffyDos?
