  1. Great to see a 3DO thread here! My favourite console ever and I'm still obsessed with it today. I've done a few bits given my undivided passion and was lucky enough to interview Silent Software's Reichart Von Wolfsheild from Return Fire. My favourite games include: Return Fire, Space Hulk, WCIII, Road Rash, Escape From Monster Manor and Killing Time. I'm also find of Demolition Man, Night Trap, Sewer Shark & Supreme Warrior. I wanted to paste the article on Reichart but as I'm on my phone I'll bung a link and update later. Hope you like it - lots of 3DO history and an insight behind the scenes at 3DO etc... Also - damn sad to hear about the passing of Amiga/Lynx/3DO legend Dave Needle. https://retrogamingblog.co.uk/2015/05/14/reichart-von-wolfsheild-3do-return-fire-and-the-industry/
  2. Hi all, So here's my attempt at Aaron's Blazing Star high score challenge. Not a great round for me, I'm pretty new to this one, but quite enjoyed this. I want to get a lot better!
  3. Hi chaps, Just an update with the latest progress on my MVS cab - I have been documenting the progress. Apologies for what must seem like an onslaught of videos from me lately! There will be some time passing between them now, though there's some more plays from Rich's visit. His battery mod video can be found in the YouTube description or above in this thread. Enjoy!
  4. Hi chaps, Here's the Windjammers 5 min play vid. Retro Rich recently popped by and made a few alterations to the cab, whilst he was down we managed to get our game on! 😄 I need much more practice, and a copy of the game!
  5. It was great fun! Hopefully we'll film something else in the future! Be it at Rich's or back down my way again. I'm always ready to shoot! Hope the community like the vid and Rich's mod helps a few people out. I think he's a great asset and I can't wait to see what he does next. Lateral thinking meets Neo Geo - anything can happen!
  6. We had fun! Meeting Rich was great and he's done a superb job on tweaking bits and fixing a few concerns on the cab. Goes without saying he's a real asset to the retro and arcade community and a good guy. I really appreciate all his input and advice and I'm stoked with the heklp he's put in. The battery modification he made to the PCB is in the can! literally. I've filmed the whole thing and edit is due to start this week, expect it sometime soon on his YouTube channel and another video of our gaming session to follow shortly after. Needless to say he annihilated me but next time I'll be prepared. Thanks again, Ash
  7. Currently playing Neo Turf Masters live at twitch.tv/retrogamingblog Come and join the fun Chat is enabled!
  8. Further to that I did a review of the analogue CMVS here! http://youtu.be/qf5t13lgnqE
  9. Happy Birthday! This community is awesome to be apart of and thank you for having me.
  10. Hi peeps, So I've made a start making some short restorations with the Electrocoin Single I nabbed this month. It's my first cab and I'm pretty green still but here's the first video of a series I'll do around this cabinet. You'll also see me playing Pulstar for a short time before technical issues start happening. http://youtu.be/VD5xO7htjcs Enjoy! Ash
  11. Hi Anthony and crew! As some of you may know I am now the proud owner of an MVS Neo Geo Electrocoin Single cabinet. I’m still very green and learning the ropes. I’m partly clueless but I have begun my journey on cleaning up the cab, mainly with the help of Retro Rich. I’m just familiarising myself with the components and what-is-what. I'm currently trying to source a 19" CRT bezel and x2 dust covers for the sticks. Any help in pointing me in the right direction would be great! Every Wednesday (yes, that’s today) I do a broadcast from my twitch channel at twitch.tv/retrogamingblog and tonight at approx 8:30pm GMT / 3:30pm EST I will be streaming a quick tour of the cabinet and playing through a couple of games. Warning though - I’m terrible! Technical problems may ensue as well! Hope to see you there. Ash
  12. Just wanted to say thanks to anyone who stopped by my stream this afternoon, and a thank you to Anthony. It was great to chat with you! If anyone is interested I'll be streaming every Wednesday 3pm EST (8pm GMT) at twitch.tv/retrogamingblog - I always start off with a few Neo Geo games before moving into other systems. I'll start exporting my Neo streams to YouTube and post them up and give a 30 mins heads up before the stream starts. Thanks again! Ash
  13. So happy to hear SNKP revisiting their IPs once again. I'm very much looking forward to revisiting the Samurai Shodown series. As strange as it would seem I would really like to see a new Neo Drift Out and Turf Masters. 😀
  14. Hello all, I'm posting to the community because I'm looking for some basic guidence in getting to grips with Samurai Shodown 3. I've viewed a few YouTube videos but none present a 'how to play'. I have no idea in the difference between the bust or slash mode or the guard stances. I'm lost on what the pow meter does and what kind of move to execute when it peaks. I'm using Haohmaru as that was the character I used a lot in the arcades years ago - but SS3 seems worlds apart from the first game. I'm playing off the bat in mvs mode and I struggle to get past the second fight. Help!
  15. My earliest memories were seeing the adverts for the console and games in NRG. NRG was a stockist only and you'd order via telephone. It was great for imports. The games for Neo Geo seemed insanely expensive, that was when i became first aware. I read about all the games in Mean Machines' UK magazine, but I never felt left out as I had a Megadrive. I frequented the arcades a lot, and I'd always played Samurai Shodown and Metal Slug. The brutal advertising campaigns they ran were very memorable. Gamesmaster started life as a UK show under Newland productions and they also showed some Neo Geo games, far few and between, but when they broadcast boy did it look amazing! Only over the last 2 years have I actively started bringing the Neo games into my home on their hardware. I support SNKP where possible through steam and online sales because I have a huge respect for their company ethos and I would like to see them push some quality games out today. That doesn't look likely to me yet, but I hope to be proved wrong!
  16. Oh boy! I'm very aware of these companies. I could never afford the prices but when I could they were sold out I was really keen to get a copy of Knight's Chance and Crissed Swords 2. As I don't own the NGCD I'm sure it'll be a lot of luck before I see it. What I'd really like to get is an mvs version of Ironclad that was on the Wii - but that's few and far between also. What did you make of NG:DEV works? I'm still not so sure with Gunlord etc, because I feel such a strong love for Turrican which this looks to be based on. I need to play to form a proper valid opinion. More games for MVS is never a bad thing though
  17. Hi there all, Here's a short snippet of Blue's Journey on the MVS. There's also a quick peak at the CMVS I reviewed way back. The setup for broadcast is somewhat convoluted. My current broadcasts will consist of the Neo Geo X with some commentary much like this, as always they'll be snippets exported to YouTube.
  18. Hello all, I found the post! Thank you for taking an interest in the video. For reference none of my work on the blog/youtube is for profit of any kind, and never will be. They're all passion projects and that's the way they will remain for the foreseeable future. I'm working on some bits and another Neo Geo video, but based on the X which you are welcome to view if it is also of interest. I've literally just signed up to the AA forums, but been aware of them for ages. But now I'm here and I've had a look around it looks like I've been missing out on a lot! Thanks again for the kind introduction. I hope I can provide you with some interesting content and contribute to the community as time goes on. Best, Ash

  20. I used to collect and not play, mainly due to the time restraints on being a parent - but also to have some kind of completionist satisfaction, something i never hit. But as time has gone on, I sold a lot of my collection and systems off because i felt i just didn't get the time to play - and the clutter drove my wife crazy. I'm now collecting predominately only games I will play. So for now, that's the MVS. Desperate to get a pinball machine. That won't fit on the shelf!
