      My friends and I went to the movie as well.  We just happened to see it in the paper and said,  Hey there's a movie!  (Which I have on VHS and DVD, but have yet to rewatch haha)...If memory serves the difference is the Cylons kill off Baltar at  the end.  I think the idea was to recover some of the costs associated with production of the series, but then they didn't exactly advertise that there was a movie.  Still, it was a nice refresher of the series, from a time when there was no DVDs of the series, no streaming etc., and the only way to get your Battlestar was to tune in Sunday nights at 8.

      Love the original Battlestar Galactica.  I have it on Blu-ray (in the proper aspect ratio!), and it looks amazing.
