Could we ever have dreamed that someday, just using our computers, we'd be putting ROMs into a Harmony Cart and then, just by going into the "Atari Room" and firing up the 7800 (outputting S-Video no less), we'd be able to play a Stratovox homebrew (as an example) using our Edladdin arcade style controller?
While I did imagine similar things as a kid, I thought rooms in the Future would be all white and plasticy; Maybe kind of sterile looking,...And I thought there'd be some spots with dozens of blinking lights, Maybe a couple of tape reels here and there that spend their days going back and forth, God knows why they do that...And I thought there'd be way more robot voices.

Well, in many ways our dreams have come true. I remember wishing for every Atari 2600 game once, as a kid... and thinking that was crazy, even then. Now they are all at our figertips, and better yet, we can talk to the authors and even... developers. Sometimes even legendary developers who are still active.
Do yeah, dreams come true. Welcome to the future! -Don't forget to inflate your shoes. (and if you want to chase that last reference, google "We're all Bozos on this Bus" and make sure you have a nice supply of whatever you need to space out in the dark)

Well I dreamed of a desktop all-in-one console that looked like a mixture of the TRS-80 Model III, a NASA mission control console, and an Ultravision. And it could play every game, past - present - future. I even started construction on it. Built the prototype in a wood & cardboard box by gutting an Intellivision and VCS and Colecovision. Mounted all the boards and innards in there along with a small Trinitron TV. It promptly overheated and kept blinking in and out and never stayed stable enough to play anything for any length of time.
