Arcade Games You'd Like To See Ported To The Atari 7800
GoldLeader replied to Skippy B. Coyote's topic in Atari 7800
Trebor and I were essentially saying, "Hey don't forget all the stuff that already exists in the Atari Age Store!"...Because sometimes it's easy to forget what's already out there...Once I get some money, I should get some more homebrews... -
Nintendo Classic Mini announced
GoldLeader replied to Atariboy's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm heading to Wal-mart right now for some groceries. I'm pretty sure it won't happen, but if for some reason I find a Mini,...I'll sell it to an AA member at cost. -

I so agree on Pulsar! It's really been forever, but I remember playing this in an arcade that was in the back of our local K-Mart. They put in a really nice little game room with black carpet and its own ceiling, and it was kept dark like an arcade should be... -

Atari Flashback Portable!
GoldLeader replied to Byron's Reviews's topic in AtGames Flashback and Portable Consoles
If the Post Office is to be believed, I'll be getting mine delivered tomorrow...Pretty stoked! -
(I haven't had a chance to see the whole video above so apologies if it answers some questions) I know people have said there are arcade games on here, but, I see the games list and I keep thinking home versions...For example Holy Diver, Image Fight, Exerion, Exed Exes, SonSon, Zippy Race, Anything with the word Commando are probably Famicom/NES and look at all the Genesis/MD and SNES/SFC on the list... Hate to say it, (and I'd like to be wrong)...But could it be that Retro-Bit is throwing around the word "Arcade" here? They might be referring to the type of game and not the platform... If anyone gets one, I'd advise them to look at the demo screens and look for the words "Insert Coin" as opposed to the Famicom/NES/MD/SFC etc. demo screens...

Nintendo Classic Mini announced

I wondered about this too! And I do feel that at least a handful of people who were going to buy a Nintendo Mini (probably for themselves or to play, not as a gift) will buy this instead or in the meantime...What I really wondered, given how many home versions of these games exist, is: Are there actual arcade games on here? I keep thinking Retro-Bit may be throwing around the word "Arcade" to describe a type of game as opposed to the version (or platform) of the game. The dead giveaway would usually be the words "Insert Coin" in the demo mode as opposed to the usual Famicom demo mode or SNES, Genesis etc... Should make for hilarious commentary on your podcast... -
2016 Flashback speculation thread

We only had Circuit City... Best Buy was 45 miles away... But it was funny... Best Buy, in the old days, had an anime section that was a whole aisle long, stocked to the gills, Circuit City had "Spirited Away" next to all their sci-fi DVDs in their section marked "Anime/Sci-Fi". I asked an employee why they only had one anime DVD in their whole "anime" section and her response was, "What's anime?" .. To be fair, the last time I was in a Best Buy, their entire anime section was less than 4 shelves, about one 16th of its previous size...And so was their whole movie section... And Circuit City did not care what you were buying as long as they could try and sell you an extended warranty on it...That's a nice extension cord ya got there...Shame if something were to happen to it... On the plus side you could sign up for a Circuit City card, get $20 credit...Then cancel and do it again haha! OK Wait I'm not completely off topic yet...LOL...Flashbacks might have been carried by Circuit City if they were still around -
Buy a real nintendo instead...

You make a good point! But I think collectors will want them, too. I know this product will appeal to casual gamers...But it also appealed to me...Even if it's in addition to old hardware, stacks of carts, multi-carts, repros, Famicoms, clone systems, handhelds, My Sharp Twins, Fami games, Famiclone games, Famiclones,...etc. It's funny I almost forget that some people want one to replace the old stuff...Not add to it. -

I'm not exactly sure how it works (and not even saying this is an example), but based on past experiences I think Wal-Mart has some deals whereby other distributors/suppliers/dealers are having their products show up as available from WalMart.com. My search history was at one point making it look like Walmart was selling: Parts for my Frenzy machine, Stern Pinball games/parts, and $5,000 American Made B.C. Rich guitars...But I'm pretty sure Wal-Mart was not the one filling those orders... -

I gotta be honest, I am So Loving this little Mini! Now I can't really explain it, so I'm going to go with the idea that secretly the hype has somehow made me enjoy it even more! I could probably just think back to my launch day purchase of a PS2 (And again recall my persistence and racing skills Ha!) and remember that those no longer go for $800 on ebay...And in truth, I probably won't know the answer until I can see these Minis all over ebay for $12 or so after Nintendo has released 4 more of them and 2 SNES versions and it is the distant year 20XX... But you know what it reminds me of? *Here comes a story showing I'm old haha* When I was a kid I remember seeing Star Wars toys in the back of a comic book, before they hit store shelves...And IIRC they were advertised at $59.99 which was a LOT of Money in 1977! They weren't even actual pictures of the toys, but little comic book drawings of an X-Wing and a TIE Fighter, (again $59.99 each). And I showed my parents, basically feeling I Had to have them! I think my mom said, "Well, You better save your money". Sage advice for a 9 year old. And then when they went on sale, How much were they? No I'm asking here, I honestly don't remember...I'm thinking they were either $19.95 each or $29.95 each...And I got both for Christmas... And as I played with those Star Wars toys, I always thought to myself, "Man This is So Great!...I'm playing with $60 toys!!" Maybe when I grow up I can be a GoldLeader! -

GoldLeader replied to 0078265317's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I see no reason not to do Both! Chances are, a Very large percentage of people on this forum already have the real deal so everything else is just for fun! I found myself almost Amazed at how much I am liking my Mini! And I have Most of the games And I have a Retron 5 so Even I can't explain why I'm liking this little thing so much... I don't recommend ebay prices unless money really is no object...But if I'm being honest I probably would have paid double...(Just don't tell Nintendo...) ... -

ARMOR ATTACK II OK So maybe there Never was an Armor Attack II in the arcades...(And I'm sure many of you already knew where I was going with this...), But this game doesn't even need to be ported, Because It's Already Exists! It's in the AtariAge Store right now and it's a pretty fun game! ...Just felt like pointing that out. Cheers! -
Coleco Chameleon .... hardware speculations?
GoldLeader replied to phoenixdownita's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I was gonna make a joke about Emio using the wrong kind of electrical tape to cover up the back of their controllers or something ... But to be fair their Edge Joystick is actually really nice and decent for the money...I absolutely plan on buying one if they get them working with the Nintendo Classic... TBH I wish they made one that was compatible with the original NES... -
Am I the only one psyched for some of these Piko Interactive games? I might want to get the SNES cartridges later...

I tried it one more time...Just to triple check, in case something weird was going on...Something beyond the illegal drugs and beery goodness (Or as I call it...Tuesday night at the Sunnyside Baptist Church)...But I got the same result! The Classic Gamepads work...Both D-PADS and Analog Sticks work on both menus and games. And the HORI Fighting Stick (which I believe is an officially licensed product) does Not. It does Fully work on the menus...And the Home, Select, and Start buttons work, But as soon as you start a game, your guy goes left and nothing else from the joystick registers...The buttons still work though, just not the joystick. I'm guessing Nintendo changed something in the pinout (maybe just a slight voltage difference?)... Myself, I feel real sorry for that Emio company right about now. They could have made a licensing deal with Nintendo (Like HORI or Ascii would have) and then their joysticks and pads would probably have been guaranteed to work, but the cost would have shot up by about $5-$10. And it looks like they really built a good one with their Edge Stick. I really want one if they can iron out the kinks and make it work with the Classic. I could imagine a refund/recall scenario, whereby with a new sticker on the box, Emios become Wii controllers, but a more novel approach, if it's feasible, would be to come up with some kind of adaptor that makes them compatible. And (Like I say, IF it's possible) then they could ship out boxes of adaptors to the stores (or even to individuals) and they could drop adaptors into each box of New Old Stock, while they create a compatible version for future sales. Honestly, I wish them the best! -
Seeing a lot of games on that list (even if they're NES/MD/SNES versions) makes me want one of these more than before...And thanks so much for the list onmode-ky! "B-Sides" or "Deep Cuts" may be Best thing I've read today! But I do still wish the controller inputs were db9s so I could easily use some other controllers... (Or maybe it will be easy...)
