Oh yeah, There are T-Shirts in the store already...(I just kind of threw that in as someone else had mentioned it)...
When I said that, in my mind I was picturing new ones with just a big AA logo or something...So then when someone asks, you can just tell'em it means Alcoholics Anonymous and tell them you're a fan (Ideally as you raise a full* shot glass, with the same logo of course!)
*Full of Bourbon so when they ask if you're a member, you can say No just a fan!

I was thinking the exact same thing...
Glasses, shot glasses, Hell... Coffee Mugs, And t-shirts would all be big sellers I bet

I don't know if this has been mentioned around here yet...Perhaps earlier in the thread somewhere, but Hyperkin makes a Turbografx and PC Engine controller! And It's Hyperkin! YAY! (They have definitely Not let me down like Retro Bit or even ATGames in the past)...
I got it but haven't had a chance to try it out yet...I'm just using the pic I used for the What did you buy today? thread, so there's some other stuff there, too.
$25.47 at Amazon! Not bad at all!

Stuff from eBay and Amazon coming in...
A Monster cable for MP3 Players and friends' phones or iPads, when we put stuff into my main living room stereo. An Audioquest Evergreen cable for the MP3 player in my car.
Another NEOGEO Mini Pad (Now I have 1 white and 1 black pad), And this is cool; A brand new Hyperkin Specialist Turbografx/PC Engine pad! (Not the Mini! The real thing, and it includes an adaptor cable to work with PC Engines too)...

Modern games haven't been fun (give or take) for a while now...Some are OK,...Don't get me wrong. But mostly...It's like you said they're just not fun anyone.
Wait , "anyone"?

If a system has photorealistic games...I'm not calling it "retro"...
One last blurb before I exit...
The PS2 will Never be Retro! It doesn't matter if the year is 2050 and the robots have taken over and Skynet has gone live and The Animatrix is now considered a History Lesson...And if humans are underground...Playing Twisted Metal Black in dark caves with quiet generators so not to disturb the new overlords...And one man child, wearing more leather than an 80's Motley Crue concert, says to another in the shadows before the campfire, Or maybe I should say bonfire, given the Apocalytpic nature of everything now, and the fact that it's in a barrel, "Should we play some 'Retro' games?"
"Sure, what's your pleasure?"
The other holds up an Atari VCS (2600, as if I have to add this), a Turbograx, and a SNES...

It's not perfect, but I thought I'd offer up the work I've done.
The set has 741 roms; I've renamed a lot of the roms for more consistent naming, and tweaked the spacing for the most part (though some aren't 100% for spacing yet)
Enjoy!
Thanks Nate!
You are a Saint in Knight's clothing! A Gentleman & a Scholar! An Officer and a Gentleman,...You're a Good Egg...
Thank You is what I'm probably trying to say!

No idea what went on internally, but NGPC always reminded me of Dreamcast,...Things were looking bright and then SNK, seemingly out of nowhere, pulls the plug. For me, it happened right after I bought one, (and this was before I had internet or a computer FWIW). I got it, got a few games; I was all happy and I go back to E. B. 2 days later and there's not a game or console to be found. I'm like, "What the heck is going on here?"
"SNK just pulled out of America" I was told...

As I voted, it's neck and neck!
Honestly it depends, because some days I like one and some days, the other...
I voted joystick though, and the one I have in mind is my Edladdin Custom ColecoVision/Atari 2600/7800 stick with one microswitched arcade style ball top, right in the middle with buttons on both sides so I can be right or left handed, (I prefer the joystick in my right hand a bit more often I'd say)...And I agree, it reminds me of old arcade games where the joystick was in the middle (My Frenzy machine pops into mind instantly)...

For all of it,
The whole debacle, from the very first announcement, Which you may remember was met with enthusiasm here (at first) ...To me, it's Not the waiting; Not the delays. In many respects, those would be expected by-products of such a venture, and I'll even say, as Extremely disappointing as it was to hear this would be crowdfunded,...That wasn't it....I mean, I wouldn't buy one, but there have been Awesome products that started life as crowdfunded ventures...
For Me,
It's: The lies, the deceptions, the half truths, the mismanagement, the Lack of Vision, the Spite, the lawsuits, the lack of a game plan, the name, the specs, the OS, the shell, the joystick, the other joystick, the unpaid workers, the attempted theft of other peoples' work, the attempted outsourcing, the not so clever timeline slogans, the scapegoats, the misinformation, the weeks (not months), the lack of updates, the deletions, the gall, the pimping and hype of something not yet made, the premature TV appearances, the motel room across the street, the fanboys, the "unconsole", the simulated images, the "kevlar", the NDAs, the self imposed restrictions, the finger pointing at journalists, the lack of passion for video games, the dragging of a once good name through the mud, the lack of knowledge of even old Atari's products, the lack of Honest updates, the convenient excuse of a global pandemic, the lack of hardware guys, the lack of software guys, the lack of developers, the lack of games, and the constant masquerading as the exact same Atari you knew and loved from back in the day...

I believe in what works. I believe in real products produced by real companies. I believe in seeing stuff on the shelf (or 2-day delivery for e-commerce like amazon & ebay). Present day atari is incapable of any of that. You know that. Everybody knows that. - Keatah
^Exactly right!
And these jokers wanna piggyback off the fame of the name VCS? Why choose the name of one of the Greatest consoles in video game history? Seriously, what connection does this POS have to the VCS? None! Other than a case that looks almost 1 tenth as cool if you're stoned out of your gourd... and on at least 3 other drugs, I guess...

(Maybe not perfectly on topic, but...)
If they had put out an arcade stick that worked with more games (not just fighters UGGGH!), it totally would have helped the Dreamcast. And it would have been so simple to put a switch on the stick so the stick could have controlled either the D-Pad or the stick...
-
I have a bit of nostalgia for it,...Probably because at the time it was ...different, I guess...Seemed top heavy, cord placement was wrong,...(The arcade stick option didn't work on any game I owned so that was flubbed as well)...It is bad overall, but not unplayable. The main thing I hated about it was the analog trigger, because almost every racing game (Except SF Rush 2049 that let you remap controls) used it as a gas pedal, and of course that meant if you played a racing game on Dreamcast, your hand felt like a twisted claw for the rest of the day...

I think everybody should just think about it like this: Soon* there will be a way; A magical "Atari" way,... to play 2600 accurate Centipede on your living room TV, from the safety of your wonderful couch, with a slightly different controller and some wood grain... and an Atari logo**...
*Weeks...It'll all happen weeks from now...
**The logo might even light up! So there is that I s'pose...

I would agree that around the time of the crash, many of us were moving on to cars, heavy metal, girls, etc.,...NES brought it back around 87-88 I think...Not earlier,...I don't count test markets (personally)...

I'll be honest, I've never added them up! I've got tons for Atari, Genesis, NES/Famicom, SNES, PS1, PS2,...I guess if we were to go boxed and not include loose carts, maybe PlayStation would be the most...

I'd say Sure, Go ahead! But I think you should have to wait in line behind those of us who can't believe they had the unlimited gall to call this ShitShow a "vcs" ...
I also think all of us here should never capitalize those letters, Unless we mean a Real ATARI VCS from the 70s/80s...
-
The thing is,...
As nostalgia works...We, well I, at least, will always have a soft spot for Defender and even Pac Man because BITD I knew it wasn't perfect or great, but it was what we had...And games like Star Ship (or mine which is Outer Space) has that too, but in a much different way. I wanted Star Ship, but it, along with Slot Racers was pulled from the shelves before I could buy it. And do you know what happens when you really want something but can't buy it anywhere? You only want it 20 times more! And when you finally get it, (though you may have weirdness affecting your perceptions), you may just have some fun with it, no matter what people think...People who come to the scene later, when there are many, many more options may be quite unaware of some of that early Magic and what it meant...
**Now, I'm not saying to go out and play bad games, ... Just know that at the time, many of us put some time in certain games and can look back at it as a pretty cool thing. Wouldn't have it any other way actually...**

In the early days JEB or JON...
Then once we discovered Heavy Metal, Punk, and Thrash it was all over...We tended to put up initials of bands.
For example:
DRI Dirty Rotten Imbeciles
COC Corrosion of Conformity
SOD Stormtroopers of Death
MOD Method of Destruction
LOD Legion of Death
V A Verbal Assault or Verbal Abuse
D I (No meaning, initially meant Drug Ideology, but everyone thought it was Death Incorporated)
S T Suicidal Tendencies
GBH (Grievous Bodily harm)
MDC (Multiple meanings like Multi Death Corporations)
Good Times!

I wonder if I'll ever finish this...

You gotta admit, it'd make a pretty cool ritual.
You open up your new AtariAge homebrews. Toast in their honor with a nice shot of Bourbon (or whatever you like), ...Then chase with a nice brew...all in AA glasses!
Sooo, kinda like now, except the Glasses would have AA on them
