  1. E. T.  Good game.  Worst game.  So much talk, NOW.  BITD,  I never wanted ET, I never played ET.  No friends I knew bought ET.  No one got it for Christmas. It was never even on our radar.  Great movie,  but didn't seem like it'd make a good game.  TRON, Star Wars, Battlestar...Now those seem like video game material.  Alien maybe,  not E.T.  I guess it was usually grandma or parents bought it...They paid way Too Much for the license.  Hindsight's 20/20...Thoughts?

I would agree, you probably wouldn't have hated it. And yeah, there were other games competing for attention at the time. I can't say precisely how I would have found it; I think I would have found it fine at the very least. I do recall Raiders of the Lost Ark being awesome, even if very challenging.

I will read that article. The whole topic of this game continues to fascinate me, glad you brought it up this evening (the only thing I would say that is slightly more interesting is why more celebration doesn't surround Raiders - that also deserves its own documentary, with perhaps a scene in it of Warshaw and Spielberg playing it together after all these years; that also should be on a Flashback).

Raiders I did buy!  That seemed like it would make a good game to me...

ET was the first movie I saw in the theater. That year for Christmas (Birthmas) I got ET and Pacman. I was too young to make much sense of ET. I was a bit disappointed with Pacman graphics, but I got over that pretty quickly and played the heck out of it for many years. Never really got back to ET though 😦

  2. Know what's unsettling?  I just heard a phone ring outside my window at 2:45AM.   Not my home phone, not my cell,  must be my neighbor's,  even though I've never heard his ring before.  After hearing it clearly,  it rang a few more times then went silent.   I assume he woke up and answered it.  I can't imagine it's good news if someone calls at a quarter to 3AM...

Hope your neighborino is ok  and they were just trying to reach him about his car's extended warranty.

My nearest neighbor is about a 1/4 mile away through thick woods. If I hear a phone ring through my window then someone's got some splaining to do.

Probably drunk scammers at a call center from India.  Of course they lie and tell you they're from Pakistan.

  3. eBay,...You type in a search for a rare game (just in case, ya know?)...Like "Adventures of Lomax" PS1.  Next, at the end,  there is a bunch of "PS1 LOTS".  Now,  You're All Happy!  Could one of these lots contain Lomax??  NOPE!  They're all Madden all the time and MLB, NBA, Bowling, Golf, and every other crap game you can think of!  Seriously,  How did We as a Society get such crappy taste in games?  How can 6 lots in a row, not contain even 1 game I want to play?  No RPGs, No space games, No platformers, No monsters, No castles, No arcade games, No pinballs, No games with guns and explosions I can tell you that!...

    **Sigh**

Glad I'm not that bad. I'll take 6 or 7 good games and add 2 or 3 ultra-commons, but selling demos is just dirty pool.

Of course you're not that bad! haha!  But ya know what?  Someday,  someone will list a "lot" and amidst those terrible NASCAR, NCAA, Gameday, PlayStation magazine freebies, wrasslin', smurfs, game shows, golf, Pizza Hut promos, and Rugrats...Will be a faintly purple CD that I can barely make out in the light and it will say "Adventures of Lomax" and then I will POUNCE!  Muhuwahahahaaaa!

  5. Last night I broke 2 toes. :(  I can't go back to work for a couple of weeks because it's very tricky to drive a 5-speed for very long with a busted foot,  (Broken toes on my left foot).  So I guess I'll have to stay on the couch,  drink beer,  watch movies and play video games.   A wise man once said,  "It's a cushy job, but someone's got to do it!"

That was very nice of you!  And I'd venture a guess that could buy yourself another one sometime if you want to...I think N64 is OK,  probably has moments of greatness if I dig.  I'll never think it is the Best thing ever as I thought that of PS1 at the time, then PS2 at the time haha...But I enjoy having one and I need to play the classics it has to offer...

      Update:   WOOHOO!

  7. So, 3 nights ago,  I had a song in my head all day.  I come home from work, hit RANDOM on my 6 disc CD changer and out of about 120+ songs,  The song in my head (Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill) Plays!  I didn't even know it was in there!.  Then last night on my way home from work I was thinking of the song Scarborough Fair, specifically Nox Arcana's version (with new goth lyrics).  Before taking a shower, I hit play on my boombox after randomly hitting some buttons to change where I start, and Scarborough Fair plays!! (Nox Arcana's version too!),...And I wasn't even sure which CD was in there! It was just a random CD comp chosen at random the day before ...

  8. I'll give an OLDLeader story...I was in a pawn shop about 2010 or so and I saw these kids in there,  kinda looked like skate punks. 1 had a denim jacket covered in Activision patches! So I commented on it and how I thought that was cool...And one kid turned to the other and said,  "Hey this old guy knows what all these patches mean!"

    Then I felt Old.

FWIW,  I guess he bought the jacket at Goodwill or something, but never had a clue about what the patches meant.

  12. Does your phone identify music?  Or does GOOGLE  "Search a Song"  just instantly say "UNABLE TO FIND A MATCH"   (Try Again) ?

Mine does that.  And NO,  restarting the Phone doesn't do anything...

They wrote a song about that for The Music Man.

We performed it my freshman year of high school. During the opening scene I was the salesman who tells the other salesmen about Harold Hill "He's a music man and he sells clarinets to the kids in the town..." and signaled the train stopping via the exaggerated "yessss sssssir" for the steam brakes. Was also part of the town folk for the rest of the play.

Change that to salesman #2 and I did the same thing.

  14. So last weekend at the local VENOM INC. show (which was a Blast I might add!)...I also saw the bands ENFORCED (Not ENFORCER which I thought it was...)  and WORMWITCH, not STORMWITCH, which is what I thought it said...

No longer able to decipher a Metal band logo,  I think I'll turn in my Cool Guy rewards card and sign up for AARP,  cuz I must be getting old...

  15. So,  is it just me or are songs like the ROMs of your MP3 Player man?  (Whoooa_)

And are the lyrics to Renegade different in the liner notes than what he sings?   Come'on Styx do better!   And should I have noticed this in 1978 rather than just now?

    ... Ultimate QIX = fun ...

A/V is the way to go...until the mighty S-Video...is

And NEO GEO's al'right (Except for too many fighters)...I mean how many King of Fighters do ya need?  Like Highlander (maybe) there should be only one! (Also like Highlander,  I wish they had Swords!)

I bet Super Mario3 outsold Clash at Demonhead...

  21. Maybe I'm NOT losing my mind!  Tried playing original Game Boy yesterday.  Couldn't see anything.  Found my Tengen Night Sight (magnifier),  still Blurry!  Today I realized there is a bunch of scratches (dead center) making things blurry as hell on the magnifier lens!

Not even sure this is my original Night Sight;  Might be a Different one from an eBay lot some time ago...
