  1. I'll just say it.  Nothing (Video Game related) should ever be an Amazon Exclusive!  I finally made up my mind figuring I DO want the Turbografx Mini!  Even at $99.99...Except after clicking the ad for $99.99 it becomes $199.99 and up!  There's 8 available starting at ~ $200 PLUS shipping and TAX of course!  Thought about the PC Engine Mini (Maybe, but nawww) And the Coregrafx Mini is made for Europe so could have frame rate issues here (May or may not be noticeable), but all start at at least $47 higher than they should be....*sigh*   Guess I missed out on this one.

^I went for the Turbografx Mini.  I do kind of like the look of the Core Grafx also, and the PC Engine Mini...But I suppose I have a little more nostalgia for the American one, if only since friends had one back in the day (I got mine  much later, then I also have a PC Engine Duo-R).  Maybe it's no different, but since the Core Grafx is technically based on a PAL set up, I wonder if it's 25FPS instead of 30FPS, once converted to HDMI?  I didn't want to have any issues, and the PC Engine Mini has a non Turbo controller, so I got the one I wanted, with the games list I preferred and the controller I'm used to as well.

Just a joke on that Pounds thing, mate, but you knew that.

Yeah we got the CoreGrafx, but I'd prefer a PC-Engine. We didn't get any of them BITD. They didn't release it here. I'm happy I've got one at all.

Of course I have a wonderful upright machine that can emulate 100% any of those games but it's lovely having an almost full size machine.

I wish they would actually integrate a slot/drive for real games in these mini machines. That would be the cake topper.

Yeah, I know you were kidding. Like American's economy will not suffer in a post corona world. Perhaps the whole world having money troubles will infact offset out Brexit woes.

  2. Holy Cow! I watched that page load slowly on my little netbook, and at first I'm thinking, Oh it's an old school GBA, no biggie there...Then I saw the price! WHAAAAAAAA????! And NO RETURNS! LOL What I think happened was someone got tired during that listing or perhaps was looking at a list of things they were listing and they wrote down 2 prices in a row, without proofreading. Otherwise, my working GBA with a few games (and a battery cover) is gonna be sold soon so I can buy a new car or retire!
  3. Also, I got Tower Toppler for Atari 7800 (NIB). It arrived in great shape even with just a padded envelope and some cardboard, because, and this is important, the seller put it in a Box Protector, which did its job very well! And a cheap Chinese MP3 player that is really kind of a neat one (Just in case all my SONYs and Back up SONYs have dead batteries or something while I mow a bigass lawn). I collect these from time to time. Plus 4 different True Blues filled with PlayStation games for the PS Classic! The only one I'm missing is the Fight Pack cuz it's just fighters and it's not 1992 anymore (I haven't been jazzed for fighters for a long time), Well and the Genesis/MD pack cuz I think I've already got all those on Retro Arch (7,000+ Games). And a Converter to make the Wii output HDMI.
  4. I know nobody wants to follow TrekMD after that Epic mic drop! Hell, I think my trousers got a little tighter just looking at it. But... Here goes nothing. [email protected]@k, I got a Rare protective face mask and an Uber Rare 99 cent Chalupa coupon (expired in '02) for Taco Bell!
  5. You gotta admit, it'd make a pretty cool ritual. You open up your new AtariAge homebrews. Toast in their honor with a nice shot of Bourbon (or whatever you like), ...Then chase with a nice brew...all in AA glasses! Sooo, kinda like now, except the Glasses would have AA on them
  6. Oh yeah, There are T-Shirts in the store already...(I just kind of threw that in as someone else had mentioned it)... When I said that, in my mind I was picturing new ones with just a big AA logo or something...So then when someone asks, you can just tell'em it means Alcoholics Anonymous and tell them you're a fan (Ideally as you raise a full* shot glass, with the same logo of course!) *Full of Bourbon so when they ask if you're a member, you can say No just a fan!
  7. I was thinking the exact same thing... Glasses, shot glasses, Hell... Coffee Mugs, And t-shirts would all be big sellers I bet
  8. [email protected]@K! Any interest in a 99 Cent Beef Chalupa coupon from Taco Bell that expires on 4/30/02? RARE. I don't see any on eBay...VINTAGE!!  Must be Retro! It's sunfaded and has been cut out.  Offer only good at Lacade Foods Inc. Stores.  It says no cash value, but I disagree.  Let's start the bidding at .01!   If it doesn't get up to at least 3 cents though,   I'll prolly just keep it in the collection.

Now that I think about it, I'll increase my offer and throw in a couple of lottery scratch tickets.

Yes, I already scratched them without any winnings but that shouldn't diminish their value, right?

Wot! Swoopin' in at the last second with a high bid? *Trying desperately to type in a higher bid but my hands are shaking from an adrenaline rush as the seconds tick down...*

  9. I don't know if this has been mentioned around here yet...Perhaps earlier in the thread somewhere, but Hyperkin makes a Turbografx and PC Engine controller! And It's Hyperkin! YAY! (They have definitely Not let me down like Retro Bit or even ATGames in the past)... I got it but haven't had a chance to try it out yet...I'm just using the pic I used for the What did you buy today? thread, so there's some other stuff there, too. $25.47 at Amazon! Not bad at all! https://www.amazon.com/Hyperkin-Specialist-Premium-Controller-Turbografx-16-Engine/dp/B0829SC9XH/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Hyperkin+The+Specialist&qid=1590989260&s=videogames&sr=1-1
  10. Stuff from eBay and Amazon coming in... A Monster cable for MP3 Players and friends' phones or iPads, when we put stuff into my main living room stereo. An Audioquest Evergreen cable for the MP3 player in my car. Another NEOGEO Mini Pad (Now I have 1 white and 1 black pad), And this is cool; A brand new Hyperkin Specialist Turbografx/PC Engine pad! (Not the Mini! The real thing, and it includes an adaptor cable to work with PC Engines too)...
  11. Modern games haven't been fun (give or take) for a while now...Some are OK,...Don't get me wrong. But mostly...It's like you said they're just not fun anyone. Wait , "anyone"?
  12. Craziest day!  My 85 year old aunt found my original Atari VCS BOX!  (Which I believe I bought in 1979 or 1980).  Not the console (Which my cousin pawned or lost in a storage shed before he died we're pretty sure), but the box itself, which was under an inch of dust in her downstairs closet.  I can confirm I bought it at Grand Central for $129.99 on sale from $159.99 cuz the price tags are still there!  The box shows a Heavy Sixer but I'm pretty sure mine was a Light Sixer.  I thought all of it was lost,...Never thought I'd see this again!  Inside is some NES game boxes;  All of it is dusty as hell!

Last remnant of the story:  When I was 10 or 11, I played Atari at a friend's house and made it my mission in life to get one.  I saved allowances, mowed lawns, did odd jobs for the neighbors until I had saved $80.  At which point I saw in the newspaper ad, Grand Central (about 3-4 blocks from my house) had them on sale for $129.99.  I'd forgotten the retail price but Grand Central was kind of high generally, (like Star wars action figures were $2.49, not $2.18 like at LaBelle's)...So, I asked my mom if I could borrow the rest from her and get one and she said yes!  I was probably 12.

PS My aunt still thinks there's a ghost of a chance the console is in there somewhere, but I know my cousin told me he had one (from her) and I assume it was my old one...

  13. If a system has photorealistic games...I'm not calling it "retro"... One last blurb before I exit... The PS2 will Never be Retro! It doesn't matter if the year is 2050 and the robots have taken over and Skynet has gone live and The Animatrix is now considered a History Lesson...And if humans are underground...Playing Twisted Metal Black in dark caves with quiet generators so not to disturb the new overlords...And one man child, wearing more leather than an 80's Motley Crue concert, says to another in the shadows before the campfire, Or maybe I should say bonfire, given the Apocalytpic nature of everything now, and the fact that it's in a barrel, "Should we play some 'Retro' games?" "Sure, what's your pleasure?" The other holds up an Atari VCS (2600, as if I have to add this), a Turbograx, and a SNES...
  14. Thanks Nate! You are a Saint in Knight's clothing! A Gentleman & a Scholar! An Officer and a Gentleman,...You're a Good Egg... Thank You is what I'm probably trying to say! Cheers! 🍻
  15. No idea what went on internally, but NGPC always reminded me of Dreamcast,...Things were looking bright and then SNK, seemingly out of nowhere, pulls the plug. For me, it happened right after I bought one, (and this was before I had internet or a computer FWIW). I got it, got a few games; I was all happy and I go back to E. B. 2 days later and there's not a game or console to be found. I'm like, "What the heck is going on here?" "SNK just pulled out of America" I was told...
  16. As I voted, it's neck and neck! Honestly it depends, because some days I like one and some days, the other... I voted joystick though, and the one I have in mind is my Edladdin Custom ColecoVision/Atari 2600/7800 stick with one microswitched arcade style ball top, right in the middle with buttons on both sides so I can be right or left handed, (I prefer the joystick in my right hand a bit more often I'd say)...And I agree, it reminds me of old arcade games where the joystick was in the middle (My Frenzy machine pops into mind instantly)...

  18. So... More than 5 months later... and.. Did ya get a working cart? I guess I just wanted to know...heh
  19. For all of it, The whole debacle, from the very first announcement, Which you may remember was met with enthusiasm here (at first) ...To me, it's Not the waiting; Not the delays. In many respects, those would be expected by-products of such a venture, and I'll even say, as Extremely disappointing as it was to hear this would be crowdfunded,...That wasn't it....I mean, I wouldn't buy one, but there have been Awesome products that started life as crowdfunded ventures... For Me, It's: The lies, the deceptions, the half truths, the mismanagement, the Lack of Vision, the Spite, the lawsuits, the lack of a game plan, the name, the specs, the OS, the shell, the joystick, the other joystick, the unpaid workers, the attempted theft of other peoples' work, the attempted outsourcing, the not so clever timeline slogans, the scapegoats, the misinformation, the weeks (not months), the lack of updates, the deletions, the gall, the pimping and hype of something not yet made, the premature TV appearances, the motel room across the street, the fanboys, the "unconsole", the simulated images, the "kevlar", the NDAs, the self imposed restrictions, the finger pointing at journalists, the lack of passion for video games, the dragging of a once good name through the mud, the lack of knowledge of even old Atari's products, the lack of Honest updates, the convenient excuse of a global pandemic, the lack of hardware guys, the lack of software guys, the lack of developers, the lack of games, and the constant masquerading as the exact same Atari you knew and loved from back in the day...
  20. I believe in what works. I believe in real products produced by real companies. I believe in seeing stuff on the shelf (or 2-day delivery for e-commerce like amazon & ebay). Present day atari is incapable of any of that. You know that. Everybody knows that. - Keatah ^Exactly right! And these jokers wanna piggyback off the fame of the name VCS? Why choose the name of one of the Greatest consoles in video game history? Seriously, what connection does this POS have to the VCS? None! Other than a case that looks almost 1 tenth as cool if you're stoned out of your gourd... and on at least 3 other drugs, I guess...
  21. **HOLY COW!!** ROBOTRON???!!??? HOLY COW!!! (I'll stop here...Not much else to say...)
  22. (Maybe not perfectly on topic, but...) If they had put out an arcade stick that worked with more games (not just fighters UGGGH!), it totally would have helped the Dreamcast. And it would have been so simple to put a switch on the stick so the stick could have controlled either the D-Pad or the stick...
  23. I have a bit of nostalgia for it,...Probably because at the time it was ...different, I guess...Seemed top heavy, cord placement was wrong,...(The arcade stick option didn't work on any game I owned so that was flubbed as well)...It is bad overall, but not unplayable. The main thing I hated about it was the analog trigger, because almost every racing game (Except SF Rush 2049 that let you remap controls) used it as a gas pedal, and of course that meant if you played a racing game on Dreamcast, your hand felt like a twisted claw for the rest of the day...
  24. I think everybody should just think about it like this: Soon* there will be a way; A magical "Atari" way,... to play 2600 accurate Centipede on your living room TV, from the safety of your wonderful couch, with a slightly different controller and some wood grain... and an Atari logo**... *Weeks...It'll all happen weeks from now... **The logo might even light up! So there is that I s'pose...
