If I put the tape in my Supercharger, will I get Custer's Revenge?

It's a little known fact that Yars' Revenge is the sexiest Atari game...Right after ya Kaboom in her Armor Ambush, but this is a classy update...Supercharger?  I barely know'er.  And Snuffleupagus is a verb.

    7800 Qix

Quick question, Have you ever played Ultimate Qix (Sega Genesis), Volfied, or Neo Qix (All the same game, give or take which port you play)? It's like playing Arkanoid instead of Breakout. I have a hard time going back to regular old Qix now. Sorry to be off topic. Just wondered...
  4. I meant if you already have a PC Engine, but buy a Turbografx, you could use the adapter to play PCE games on your Turbografx...I have one of those so called "Barney" Adapters (Also called a WH-301 Game Converter), which are usually purple like Barney the Dinosaur, except mine is brown. It's kind of funny, on the box it shows a pinkish purple adapter allowing you to play Turbografx games on a PC Engine, but the product literally does the opposite. I think they just used one box for all of their products. 😖
  5. Also, You can buy an adapter to play PC Engine games on it, though they may not be cheap at this point. Also you can get a Turbo Everdrive, which has a switch, to use it for Turbografx or PC Engine.
  6. Does anyone know if a USB Genesis style controller (PC) would work on a modded/hacked PS1 Classic?

Specifically, I'm thinking about buying a Hyperkin GN6 USB (6 Button), if it'll work.

My understanding is that, for RetroArch... it ''might'' but not for the standard PSX stuff that came stock on the unit if you're still using that.

      Thanks!

I was thinking for RetroArch,...I might just get one and try it.

  7. Am I the only one who thinks that all of that sounds Way Cooler than anything Atari would actually come up with?
  8. Turbografx 16. While the PC Engine was huge in Japan, The American counterpart practically disappeared from the landscape as the SNES VS Genesis Wars played out. I do remember some friends having them...And sure there is some reverence for it now, but not enough love when it existed on store shelves. I, too, was late to the party on this one, getting one about 15 years ago...But I now see it as a nice link in the chain from 8 bit to 16 bit eras, and if anything, in my mind, it's right up there with SNES and Genesis. Maybe not equal, but different in a good way. Also the Coleco ADAM. BassGuitari already nailed it so I'll just say I agree with him on it.
  9. I, too, am gonna need a place to buy such discs, but Only if the box is dented in a least 3 spots, the cover is backwards, the artwork is missing, the plastic is torn off, the manual is gone, the hand written game title is misspelled, and there are at least 4 stickers on the box, at least one of which should say "Pre-Owned" or "Used", while the rest are different prices.
  10. @King Sooper's,  I have only, so far,  a head of lettuce in my hand.  A young couple turn in to the empty Toilet Paper aisle,  and (swear to God) I say, "Did you know...You can use Lettuce as Toilet Paper??"

The dude didn't miss a beat either cuz he then said, "And you can eat it!" ...  "Yeah, Afterwards!" ...  We all laughed.   It's nice to know people haven't lost their sense of humor in these times...

Everyone I've bumped into at stores of late, have all been great. Nice, civil, courteous, sense of humor, etc.

  11. I was just thinking (on something light not serious).  I wish YouTube would let you search BY BAND for songs.   Just have a filter for only music, and then only band (or Project).  Since right now I'm searching for noise, maybe saying "Band" or "Music" is, by technical definition, wrong, but I'm tired of getting results for anything containing the word/words of the project name instead of just "the band".

@∞ Vince ∞,  Yeah I'd just listened to a 7 inch record and side A was Vestigial Limb (total harsh noise) so I just wondered if they had more stuff out there.  Just found one (?) 19+ minute track (Cassette only I believe).  I know the normal, usual world hates noise,  but I like  a lot of weirdass stuff.   Well, Here:

^I figure anything with only 2 likes is gonna be pretty cool!  And one of those likes is mine, the other is probably the guy who made it.

    3. ∞ Vince ∞

      ∞ Vince ∞

Right. Ok. I'll give it a miss. I knew a guy who sent me a cd of his music, he was disabled and full of anger, and his band played very very dark punk. It wasn't my cup of tea.

I do however do something most don't. I like to play Dance music at a much faster RPM than was intended.

I compile a list of songs which sound better at different, more pacy speeds.

Probably not very good for the heart, but on the other hand, probably the same kind of feeling someone gets from grindcore and other genres.

  12. Hell Yeah!! And if I'm being totally honest here, Most of my Tacos started life as Burritos...Then, when I went to close them and realized I'd overfilled them,...I thought, That's OK! NOW They're TACOS!!
  13. I agree with most of what everyone else says here. For me, BITD, this game was Mind-Blowing! It became almost an obsession for me and my friend; We also were hand drawing maps to it. We kept playing and playing it, in the way you would later do with NES games. But, back then we played games, we didn't beat games...And it is an easy game to get lost in (I mean this figuratively and literally), which was a fairly rare experience back in those days. Truth is, I never made it past that second part. I think I heard it was 3 parts. But for some reason at some point, we put it away and just never went back to it. To this day I haven't gone back to it, but my memories of it are very fond. It was one of my Favorite Supercharger games ever! I kind of feel like if you missed it back in the day, you may have missed it. Few people have the patience nowadays...When was the last time you hand made a map for anything? I also imagine people playing the ROM for a small bit of time, and then writing it off without getting it. But when it was a game you bought and one of the (comparatively) few games you owned, you not only put in the time, you loved every minute of it. Fun game!
  14. Tonight's supper reminded me of this thread... I call it ... Taco Pizza!
  15. Happy Birthday Vinny!  I see you joined AA in 2013, Never made a single post...But your avatar is a pentagram with Barney in the middle so you seem cool to me.  :)

  16. Oh..It's a shame ya have to have Sega's crappy 32X hardware which I don't trust at all since I once bought one brand new and it was a chintzy POS that didn't work so I returned it for PlayStation games....Sorry to keep telling that story...Maybe someday we'll have a way to play 32X without using that...
  17. Dear Universe, Coronavirus, powers that be, to whom it may concern;  Friends, Romulans, Countrymen...I believe it was Woody Allen, Jesus, or Robert De Niro that once said "Ya Don't F*#* with another man's livelihood!" and I may have forgotten the actor or movie, but I also forgot what point I was gonna be making...But watch out because someday I am gonna make a Status Update that is so poignant and filled with cleverisms to be understood at a later date (and perhaps some run on sentences) that it will make you forget about this one today, ... probably.

  18. I love I love it I love it!! I'm with ya every step of the way except I go for Hyperkin controllers not Retro Bit, but that's me. And I have an Everdrive but not a Mega SD. That's the one that'll do Sega CD right? Wait ...AND 32X??? (Want it want it want it!). You'll have to let me know what you think of it when it all comes together...
  19. (Deep breath,  here goes) The Internet (for purchases) kind of sucks! Sure you have eBay and Amazon, but what else?  Where are all the "other" auction sites? (And pay per bid sites with limited selection do Not Count).  Ever see the ads at the bottom of ebay?  Whatever obscurity you just searched for, there are now 6 sites claiming you can get it  for 70% off!  No You Can't!!!!  Ever click?  They are either Search Engines to Other Search Engines or they take you back to eBay like you've never heard of that...Didn't think to look there, even though that's where you just were!

I haven't 'bid' on an ebay item in years. It's Buy It Now, or not, and I generally have a good experience that way. Sure, I may end up paying more that way, but I save time and hassle. That's worth something. Time is very valuable. I don't like all the fees that ebay and paypal have trickled into the process over all these years, though. It's getting excessive.

    2. Flojomojo

      Flojomojo

Goodwill is somewhat interesting for collectible stuff. I agree with @Kobra Kai about Buy It Now. I don't have much interest in the drama of auctions unless I'm the seller.

I like my local Micro Center for computer equipment, especially with the 18 minute pickup feature. NewEgg is another store I like. Dell Outlet sometimes has good prices on whole systems like laptops.

I download all my video games, mostly GOG, Steam, and eShop. A little Microsoft and Playstation once in a increasingly long time. Free stuff from Epic, Origin.

Buying less stuff is my latest goal.

I've used SellMyRetro.com a few times now and I've found proper bargains there. Usually I am after cassette based games. I got a rare Demon's Kiss (c64) from there which I was very happy about. Been after one for a couple of years now.

  20. Unfortunately he stopped short of asking The Question...He said (something to the effect of) Are These Games specific to this console? IMO, What he Needed to say is "What Games ARE specific to this console?" The Silence would have been deafening.
  21. I can only speak for myself...And sometimes I hate to weigh in, because everybody's experience is different. In the old days and now, with a modded ColecoVision, I have an issue where I sometimes get garbled graphics unless I put some weight on the power supply cable. And what I've just described is with the old original console, ...I've had better luck with my ADAM, but only for Carts, as ADAM games on tape, excuse me Digital Data Packs, are now a risky proposition. Last time I played ADAM Zaxxon, my tape snapped and died, but I digress. And emulators on computers, in my mind are always a pain in some way or another,...So then along comes the Phoenix. In many ways, there are less issues here than with the original consoles. On One of my TVs, Everything is pretty much flawless. I consider the Atari core a bit wonky in the way the menu is set up, but, once playing, it looks great on my HDTV! The Coleco side is Amazing!!!! The Phoenix is one of my Favorite Consoles in Life! Now, on my other TV, it has that thing where sometimes, if playing ROMs, but not carts if memory serves, you may have to plug/unplug the HDMI when you switch a game. I haven't tried a switch between the console and the set, but I bet it would work fine. I agree it seems like something that could be ironed out. I have a cable (which I may need to locate) that has 3 HDMI inputs and one output with selector buttons and I'll bet that will fix everything, but I haven't had the time to try it out. Sorry about that, I haven't had much extra time, in life lately... It matters I suppose if you leave your consoles plugged in, or constantly change them, or move them around to various TVs in your house. I hope this comment makes sense. If you leave it hooked up to a certain TV, you'd hope that's the TV that works perfectly. Otherwise you might want to buy a switch for the HDMI. OTOH, if you move it around and have it in front of the set, or on the side somewhere, it's no big deal to unplug/plug in an HDMI cable if it needs it. So, personally I LOVE The Phoenix! Is it Perfect? Maybe not, but almost. I've had issues with original hardware, issues with emulators (and those aren't even on a TV or with original controllers anyway), and minor issues with the Phoenix. The Phoenix looks sharp as Hell on the screen and runs Atari and Coleco ROMs, plus SGM and Homebrews all in one spot, and displays on a TV. I prefer it over all other options, even over original hardware in most instances. I wholeheartedly recommend it, but if it doesn't suit you, then go a different route.
  22. @roots.genoaOh...I just noticed the FREXIT (above)...(Saying no more, I assure you). I'm glad ColecoJoe posted Werner's review, so I could read it. Strangely, even with nothing but the rosiest of colored glasses, his viewpoint was kind of interesting. And, whether blaming The Virus or not, even he now questions delivery dates, etc.
  23. Awww Come'on fellas, Ya can't game, stream, and connect like never before if you're still using all those same speeds they've been using in the past.
