  1. It does makes sense but I would bet my portfolio on it that their strategy can have long term implications in the possibly of losing loyal customers and potential profits both short-term and long-term. I don't know, but something about the Nintendo company doesn't sit right with me and wall-street definitely agrees with me when I scour over the history of their stock price performance. That alone tells me that this is not a company you want to invest in for the long-term.

Totally Agree about Not investing in Nintendo long-term...They are a stock I would Day Trade on Good News days, Get in, Get out fast! ...Oh to have been smarter in the past with regards to Pokémon Go...Those were the days when some guys really cleaned up!

  2. So the Flashback Portable is getting out there and I thought I would share all my favs in one file. These come from various places. Some were suggestions we came up with here, others were roms or hacks I hunted down. If a game did not work I tried older versions to see if they worked better and so on. Not a complete collection, just some of the cooler ones I've found to play on the Flashback Portable.

So in this collection you will find:

    The Dig Dug arcade hack.

The Omega Race Joystick Hacked version

Pac-Man 8k V2 (that is unbelievable! Loved it!)

BunnyBerzerk (which is one of the few hacks with flawless firing I've found so far).

The Mr. Roboto hack, which has the firing flaw but I work with it since Mr. Roboto is played.

    Some demos (Doctor and Ascend)

The Wizard of Wor arcade hack (which is awesome with only a few screen flaws).

Varying other hacks for Pac-Man, plus some vintage roms. But a lot of game hacks. :D

The best version of Flappybird (V0) was included. Rough but some gameplay there.

Cybearg helped created the tweaked version of Fix It Felix which is not done but nicely improved. He made it where Felix is in the window, where the pie is more visible, and color contrasts of character to background. There is a strange space displacement going on in the emulation which is why the bricks don't line up yet. But what has been tweaked is already fun and looking much better! :D

If you know of other arcade versions we could add to this, or want to share a favorite collection of your own, I'd certainly like to try it. :D

In the meantime, my fun collection for you all for the holidays. Till of course I share a later collection. ;)

Thanks so much for doing this!

I believe I've already filled up my card (4GB)...I should probably buy an 8GB...

So I picked up my FB Portable today and everything appears to work fine.

However, I have had it on charge for a couple hours now and the the Charge LED is still red.

Does it turn yellow when fully charged like the manual saids? How long does it take?

My manual says charge it for 11 hours the first time and subsequent charges take about 7 hours...

  3. I wanted to add a few results to the list...Shall I just put them here? (I don't want to mess with the list).

    Crazy Balloon works

    Elevators Amiss works

    Encaved works

Enigma Machine seems to work, but I don't know how to play it so I can't be sure

    Fall Down works

    JoustPong works

Synthcart will make noise but I doubt it's working properly

Swoops! The 1st and 3rd games work. The 2nd game does not work. And I believe the 4th game partially works...If it is made up of the other 3 games (and this is a guess) then it will partially work.

That's all I have for now that isn't already on the list, but I wanted to contribute a little...

  4.

    Nice 'Dogma' KMFDM reference! +1

Hendrix recorded that line in the song "Takin' Care of No Business" around 1967. :)

I like both of those songs!

It's definitely an old saying,...And Usually doesn't apply to me (This month is different haha)...But when I wrote that I was completely picturing this guy I used to work with who used to say it all the time...FWIW, his band used to do some Hendrix covers, And I was in a heavy band with a drum machine at the time...(neat coincidence eh?)

But I'll take all the Likes and +1s I can get!

    Keep'em coming!

Still better than the Coleco Chameleon.

    I'll never own either :-D

Scratch that ...Maybe someday...a Retro-Bit complete with beyond low expectations haha...

And yet (for some reason) what these remind me of was this famiclone system I once bought with a bunch of built-in games...There was a ton of stuff listed on the box, including some I didn't recognize or was curious about...I remember the thing being fairly cheap (maybe $30 or so) and it was "themed" as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles deal...Completely unlicensed from China. It was even shaped like a Turtle Shell LOL...

But it didn't work at all! Never saw video from it...

I guess I should show some pics now that I've described it... This was the Retro-Bit Chameleon in my life...(We've all got one somewhere) :)

I remember going to some week-long computer camp at a college when I was about 13 and they had an Elevator Action machine in the arcade outside the cafeteria. I played it quite a bit that week. I always liked Infiltrate on the 2600 because it had a similar vibe, although obviously quite a different game.

    Yeah no doubt!

I like Infiltrate...But my cartridge of it was so quirky and flaky...I cleaned it greatly, but still it would only work if ya put it in and began pulling it back out, on one side or the other, in small increments until it worked again...Also the moon had to be in waning gibbous, it had to be nightfall on an odd numbered day, certain celestial events unknown to most men had to be occurring, there needed to be a seventh son within a quarter mile, you had to speak the words "nindinugga nimshimshargall" 5 times in rapid succession without missing a syllable...And then of course, begin chanting, "Klaatuu, veraata, nikto..." right as you turned on your Atari ... :skull:

It was a hard game to get to work, was my point.

    :-o

  7. Current auction link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/112212346288

Thanks again for the positive press guys! It really did come out beautifully and I'll be very happy if it sells to an AtariAge member. It does have a bid so I know it will sell this time around, but whether it'll stay in the AtariAge community or find a new home elsewhere is yet to be seen. I still love how it came out, and honestly if it hadn't ended up being too big and heavy for my wife to use comfortably I don't think I'd be selling it. But alas, it is what it is and I just wouldn't feel right about keeping something that fancy and expensive that she couldn't use too. The things we do for love.

On the upside, it was a learning experience that saved her a ton of money on the Hori Real Arcade Pro 1 for the original PlayStation that she was planning on buying for her PS1 collection. Since this Atari 2600 stick's housing is the same case design used by the Hori Real Arcade Pro 1 & 2 it was a much less expensive way to discover that a Real Arcade Pro stick would be too big and heavy for liking, before she dropped $300 or $400 on one.

Anyway, it'll all work out alright in the end. We'll be putting the money from the sale of this Atari 2600 arcade stick towards the purchase of an Atari 7800 ProSystem and some games for it, and we have already pooled our money together and ordered a customized Edladdin Super Twin 78 to go with the new system. So the Atari 2600 stick will find a new home with someone who can put it to good use and we'll be using the money to buy some new Atari stuff that we can both enjoy. :)

    No prob!

What I sometimes do is put a "laptop" joystick like the HORI or an X-Arcade etc. on a small stack of milk crates right in front of me sitting on the couch and that can work pretty well...

I may send ya PM Jin...I have some 7800 games I was planning on ebaying...And lately I've been thinking about selling some games but giving some AtariAge members first crack at them...

  8. I'd like to see Elevator Action as well.

    There's one I hadn't thought of,

But Elevator Action would be cool!

I actually used to own the coin op of it...I say used to because I put it in this apartment building I lived in when I was in college. It was on the first floor by some vending machines (this was in the mid 90's)...And one day I went down there and it was just gone!

  9. Thanks so much for this Flojomojo! And everyone else!

I haven't always had the best of luck with ROMs...I've even had a computer in the past filled with corrupt files, so stuff that should work didn't, but I digress...

I actually half expected it not to work...because I've had bad luck in the past I guess...

But with help from this thread, adding ROMs was easy as pie in July...And worked like a dream!

    Cheers!

  10. Bump. Four hours left. Good luck Jin. ;-)

I see Jin has relisted it. And honestly, it is Very worth that price! (starting @ $150).

I would have made one very similar if I didn't already have a HORI Real Arcade Pro...I prefer a ball top joystick like old arcade games and I like arcade buttons...But what you guys have done more closely mimics an Atari joystick, but with arcade parts,...Respect!

    And he has a bid!

  11. What's funny to me as I searched early on for one of these was that the kids working at Wal-Mart and Gamestop really didn't seem to know what I was talking about...but they nodded and were nice as if to say "We'll probably get some in later..". I really don't remember their exact words.

The guy at Bed, Bath & Beyond, however, knew exactly what I was talking about. He called it by name and then said, 'We don't have them in YET,...But we will get lots of them in!"

Wow I have never even heard of this one . I love the eerie kind of sounds in it ... I would assume you would need the pokey to pull off all those sounds . Very cool game though !

Yeah part of what I really liked about Pulsar was the sinister sounds going on, If it wasn't the scary sound FX of the maze moving around, there was that creepy heartbeat sound underneath it all...I could honestly picture it as a soundtrack to a horror/sci-fi movie...

Aw3some PMP, can't wait to see what you have in store later. Any updates on Baby Pac? Someone in this thread did mention a distinct lack of pinball games, hint, hint!

As if the spooky sounds of Pulsar aren't bad enough, now Kosmic Stardust is reading my mind again... :P
