  1. I'll just say it, Between Doofus hats, candy bar lawsuits, mystery boxes, and then being total Corporate DickBastards to Marc Oberhäuser, I am Done with this Version of "Atari"! They have No Idea what Fans want, No Idea what Consumers want, No Idea how to Treat People, No Concept of Community...Limited resources which they will squander in the stupidest way possible...Lawyers wormtonguing their butts... And this is me being Nice about it all... At this point I feel like they went to the New Coleco(tm....Not!) School of Business and getting easy A's without Effort... **From another topic, but I felt like saying it here too**

  4. I like Miniature Golf but always just wish the ball would move further and faster and bounce around more. That said, I also liked Activision Tennis, Skiing, and Ice Hockey...But I mainly played them when I first got them years ago...
  5. I'm assuming he means Free Speech isn't protected by law in the same way.
  6. As far as returning games... I did that Just a Couple of Times at EB (Or was it called Babbage's then? Either way...Pre Gamestop). They used to Always tout their policy that if a game sucked you could always return it for store credit. I'd say I kept 90% of what I bought because I had a pretty good sense of what looked like fun to me and I was usually right. But I guess there were others that really began to abuse the policy. There were kids who treated it almost like a rental place. They'd buy a game, take it home, beat it, if possible, then just take it back like they hated it and get something else, often doing the same thing. I hated kids like that because they ruined it for the rest of us. Then when I really got a game that sucked, I was stuck with it, Because they changed their policy. I think it would have been a good policy if they kept it under the table. Just say nothing, but for the rare instance where people complain, you give them store credit. But by flouting the policy in people's faces, they practically encouraged this behavior... Also our EB was in an imaginary battle with the toy store next door (Kaybees). They didn't need this policy as Kaybee's already had higher prices, generally smaller selection, and they screwed up preorders...
  7. I didn't have a Toy's R Us in my town, nor where I went to college... But I went there once (70 miles away or so) in 1992 and bought the game The Bugs Bunny Birthday Blowout for NES. A fond memory actually
  8. You could fit 2 in a Jag shell...Now that's ...That's pretty funny! Honestly kinda snuck up on me how funny that actually was.. No kidding, It may sound odd, but some of my favorite jokes are the ones that creep up on me and don't hit right away...(I'm really lacking sleep right now...so most things are creeping up on me today haha).
  9. Have you ever dreamt that you haven't slept?

      simbalion

I've done that. I've also dreamt working a full 8 hour day only to get up and have to go into work. :( I feel like crap when that happens.

Haha!! Yeah I've dreamt about work! Hardly seems fair! ...BTW, Happy Birthday Simbalion!

Maybe dreaming is the default state and you are awake to collect info for dreams? If so, we go through a LOT of trouble for information.

I ended up with $5.51 this time, which tells me that I probably did too much shopping on eBay over the summer lol I ended up using mine to get a small game lot with Ms. Pac-Man for the 7800 plus Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man for the 2600.

I'm actually kinda jealous! Here in Minnesota it's just another dreary rainy day in the mid 50's. Some snow sounds like it would be really pretty right now.

I wonder how that would work? A lawnmower in the snow.

I'm in Wyoming...6000+ Feet, We're located at the base of the Rockies (The Front Range). The snow is not sticking on the roads, but it is slowly turning some grass white with lots of green poking through...It's also turning to rain off and on.

  12. Man Times have changed! My friend sold one with almost everything ..Most games, It had the light pen, but not the 3D Imager..He sold it all for $275 which was exactly what he'd paid for it 5-10 years earlier...I realize they've gone up quite a bit and I can't remember exactly when that was...But in my head it doesn't seem like it was That long ago...Maybe it's been longer than I'm thinking...Age (and possible concussions) will do that to you... At any rate I bet he'd take less if you put cash on the table...And Yes, Vectrexes are always cool...
  13. EXACTLY!!!! Sorry I just now read this and couldn't agree more!...I think I would have mentioned some kind of joint promotion in the future...Maybe even a Tiny licensing fee, for the ability to use a Real Atari and joysticks in a future commercial or something...But the basic premise is the same. You don't become a corporate asshole simply because you can or think you're entitled to...Better to be cool to someone who thinks like you and shares interests etc., Especially as they were merely creating an homage to the joy of classic video games, Clearly they weren't pretending to be the author of such things..
  14. Just a guess...that Nintendo is doing it much better this time around. I'm sure they wanted some headlines right out of the gate, but I am hoping more roll in. I've heard of Targets getting over 50 of them (not 12 like last time)...And our local WalMarts got in 24 each (I believe) as opposed to 6 like last time, and my buddy got one off the Amazon Treasure truck today so it would appear there's more out there...And I'm hoping they restock soon, even though I understand the skepticism. As far as (most) scalpers, I've Never seen the issue, especially if you're just talking about someone doing the work to go get them and then making a little money...No big deal at all. On the other hand if someone is using bots and snapping up pre-orders from good folks so they can build a pyramid to the retro-gods out of them in their living room and then putting Buy It Nows on Ebay with ridiculously high prices, ...Well That I consider a different matter...Those types can slide naked down a 20 foot razor blade into a pool of alcohol!

With the past 2 updates, I was simply trying to distill, condense, combine, and coalesce, through cunning linguistics, the experience of Atari Age...And see what comments I'd get...Cheers! .. :)

  17. So what's New and Improved? What's the results of your survey? Did you get a refund? What's the pinball game? Why'd ya sell your CoCo stuff? Do you regret selling your 7800? What was the game without a label? Didya ever find that Easter Egg? And what's the deal with Ovaltine?

  18. Thanks for sharing! It's nice to have an update.
  19. What really caused me to laugh was the word "expo" in quotes in Ikrananka's post.
  20. What's wrong with enjoying the circus? If they had created a video game console instead of a premature hype machine, We might be talking about something else.
  21. The Raiders game is not going my way...Switching to Star Trek!

Star Raiders is the way to go.

I wanted to watch Trek but 60 Minutes ran long and hosed my recording. It seems like CBS isn't serious about this show, and might even be determined to kill it.

Orville, oh my. I wish it were better.
