Super Nintendo Classic Edition - SNES Mini thread
GoldLeader replied to Rev's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Well said. I guess that makes sense then. I stand corrected. I've only read a few things there as of late and never noticed any of that, and maybe their previous image was too ingrained in my psyche. I suppose it's like when I say ATARI or for that matter COLECO...I certainly DO NOT mean the modern day versions...I just didn't realize Forbes had sank so low... *sigh* -

Couldn't agree more!... Also there is still a big difference between some little no name site insisting on you turning off your Adblockplus (or what have you) and FORBES asking...It's not exactly some little clickbait site telling you the IQs of celebrities or what foods you shouldn't eat* haha... *BTW they Never tell you what foods you shouldn't eat, they just force you to watch a video which then begs for money. -

Considering how many times I've been tempted (and/or tried) to point out to the Entire Internet the differences between, THERE, THEIR, and THEY'RE, Or TO, TOO, and TWO...Well this is just much more clever and still has me laughing a bit under my breath even as I type this! Flojomojo has won the Internet for Today!!! -

Is that why people hate on Forbes? The Adblock thing? OK That I get...It is annoying, but in a general sense they are a flagship business publication. It'd be like talking News and mentioning 60 Minutes or talking Cars and mentioning Rolls Royce; Not some fly-by-night outfit would be my point. My father owned a small business (a Very mom and pop music store) as well as dabbling in the Market, and he wanted to make money so yeah, along with Wall Street Journal, I've just always seen Forbes around, since the 70's... -
And then there's that email and I quote, "Hear audio, but also hear the world around you!" Wouldn't that be like having a vastly underpowered stereo?

My instant question was, What's on the T-Shirt ? (No I'm not going to look it up)... Because if it's picture of the hat....Well, think of the possibilities! You could wear the hat...(Now, in case you don't look stupid enough),...You could Also wear a shirt with a picture of the hat... Maybe all that's left to complete the outfit would be an Atari belt buckle.

I remember a rainy, cold and dreary day in the 80's... I was at a department store near my house. I wanted to buy an Atari game but nothing was jumping out at me. I took a chance and bought Towering Inferno...$24.95 at Grand Central. So glad I did !! And there must have been some promotion going on because I can see the bottom of the box on it, and on my Space Jockey, where the "Proof of Purchase" was, has been cut off...Though I don't recall what for. I haven't played Fire Fighter, but I'm gonna have to plug in the Harmony and just see how bad it is...

HORIs Rock! Many of them are my favorite controllers! So is that one you have for SNES? (And were you wanting me to take it off your hands...at a nice reasonable price?)... -
Yesterday I got through all of Iron Maiden, past James Brown...Stopped Mid Jethro Tull..Deleting duplicates in iTunes! Still going! I'm past Hendrix and John Coltrane..Currently at John Williams!
-
I may back them all up later, but I got a ton of CDs still...And multiple ways to DL anything I need...Mostly just trying to get iTunes put back together, ...
-
Now that my computer's had a new Windows re-install Twice! So far so Good! I seem to be getting back on track!
-
I need to go through all my stuff on my external hard drive and delete duplicates and stuff, but I just dread sorting over 500 Gigs of stuff. If it weren't so hard to find some of the stuff, I'd just delete it all and start over. LOL

The Official "Thrift finds" Thread
GoldLeader replied to Happy_Dude's topic in Classic Console Discussion
^This Was a roller coaster of a post (YAY!) Anyway a while back I too was given another PS3 Yay! But it also doesn't work Boo! It's really just a spare as I already have a nice one (Backwards compatible) from just a little past launch, and I put in a bigger HDD...My friend told me this one needs a new motherboard. I haven't really had any time to even see what it does...But he said the **(red ring of death or yellow ring of confusion or something...whatever)** meant it needs a new motherboard... -
Atari ‘Retro’ Handheld announced with 50 classic games
GoldLeader replied to israelg's topic in Hardware
I'm guessing you just control the paddle games with a joystick. It's the same on the Flashback. I really do like the look of this thing, but as I've said the Flashback has better games...No 3rd party or homebrews and no SD slot is a bummer... As far as paddle games go, I see people complaining...But I personally just see them as icing on the cake. They'll be playable to a point, but not so easily as if you had a paddle... Does anyone know if this thing is coming to our side of the pond? -

I believe I read a 2.4 inch screen, yeah small...And no SD slot...Cool design, though. I like the Flashback Portable better overall. -

I just saw this thread... I had a STAR BIRD,...My friend had the BIG TRAK (But I'm still counting it)...Also Space War cabs!! (Genius CRTGamer!) Our school had Apple II something or others so that would be where I did BASIC (and later FORTRAN, PASCAL, etc, Then KOBOL in college, I don't remember what machines though)...Shame I really don't remember any of it...And I had BASIC at home on my Coleco ADAM... Still have the ADAM!

Anyone recognize where this Ms Pac-man image is from?
GoldLeader replied to Buyatari's topic in Atari 2600
BTW It's not identical...Nose, hands, blushing, eyes etc., are slightly different...But it looks painted to represent almost the same image. -

Look at this, the 1982 flyer,... Not the whole thing but Ms Pac Man herself looks about the same... http://www.ebay.com/itm/Midway-MS-PACMAN-1982-Original-NOS-Video-Arcade-Game-Promo-Sales-Flyer-No-Stamp/401379563918?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D41451%26meid%3D34b9827166a84c2686baacfc3499f51a%26pid%3D100012%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D12%26mehot%3Dlo%26sd%3D152632861347&_trksid=p2047675.c100012.m1985 -
I guess without even specifically mentioning it, (in my post) I was also thinking in terms of AtariAge. When did this website appear? I'm guessing 2001 or 2002. Even if it was 2000. Obviously, at that point in time, the PS2 would be considered modern... Now I know times have changed,...but still thought it bore pointing out. Although I've never specifically read much here on PS2, my gut tells me if you were to look back at old posts, you'd find them under "Modern"...

Rich Goober pays $30100.44 for sealed Super Mario Bros
GoldLeader replied to Andromeda Stardust's topic in Auction Central
Yeah it's funny the difference presentation makes. At the University, I typed a lot of papers...But what Millennials probably don't know is that we hand wrote things or typed them and using computers was rare, but for Senior Papers and Grad School theses (Plural of thesis in case that looks weird)...People would sometimes have them professionally printed! I knew a guy who typed his thesis and they basically didn't accept it. I am not positive if it was his premise or his presentation...So he went to a printer, had it printed on high quality paper in nice ink; The Same Exact Thesis mind you, and they accepted it and gave him a nice score! -

I can relate...I can almost top it haha... It was 1987. We had to use a "computer" and "word processor" to write our college paper for Microecononomics class. And print it out using a "printer". I only put those in quotes because that was our guideline for this one particular assignment, and somewhat unheard of for the time, when we hand wrote everything or used typewriters for important papers. I knew I was lucky I had a computer at home and didn't have to go to the computer lab at the college. I fired up my Coleco ADAM and got to work... This was when I lived with my parents. I saved often and sometimes printed out what I had so far. Every time I saved, to a high speed digital datacassette, it was like a 10 minute break because that's how long it took. At one point I guess static electricity got the best of me because I touched the computer and everything I'd just written disappeared! Thankfully it was probably only a page and a half and I rewrote it again surprisingly quickly. At this point my mom was puttering around spraying Static Guard everywhere telling me to be careful and not touch the carpet haha... When I turned it in, the teacher Almost didn't accept it when it was done because he thought I typed it...He didn't see the "dot matrix" lines and couldn't believe it was done on a computer...He realized I was telling the truth when I said, "Look at the margins. [They were perfect; Nothing uneven and there were no partial words hanging over the edge]. Do you know anyone who can type like That? I have a Letter Quality Printer"... One of ADAM's selling points... Pretty sure I got an A on that one... -
I haven't seen it, though I probably will someday (or not)...What I do know is that your last sentence seems to be the going consensus... I like some of his other movies, but doubt I'll care much for this one... If you think about it, Ghostbusters was kind of hit or miss...The 1st movie was Awesome...Second one was barely passable..The cartoon series was Brilliant! A lot of my friends agreed, they'd have had a better second movie if they used story lines from the cartoon (or comic books)...

GoldLeader replied to Random Terrain's topic in Atari 2600
^ A lot of this is so much like my experience it's uncanny! After Combat and Space War, my next batch of 5 games was Air Sea Battle, Space Invaders, Flag Capture, Slot Machine, and Surround...And for some reason I was always getting Surround and Superman mixed up in my personal timeline, but I'm pretty sure it was Surround (in my Christmas gift where my sister bought me 5 Atari games) followed by Superman .. Then I heard of Adventure later when I was in Junior High...And my friend raved about it
