  1. I loved my Nomad! It has an LCD mod, but now it seems to have power supply issues. I'd leave it plugged in and play Ultimate Qix nearly every day for a while, (before I had a laptop in the bathroom) but now if I try to play it, it works until you tilt it, even a little bit then the power turns off then back on losing your game, so who knows? Maybe I can have someone look at it, probably needs a recap or something...Also my speaker got softer and softer so I replaced it with a bigger one but it still seems soft....And (finally) some of the screws are stripped so I have it held together with a small piece of tape. Someday maybe I'll get it back in tip top shape, especially since Ultimate Qix plays too fast on emulators yet plays perfectly on the Nomad!
  2. I wanted marshmallows and raisins, so I just ate a bowl of Count Chocula Raisin Bran (just mixed'em together) while I watched some Lost in Space.  Who says ya can't have it all?

I just pushed your LCD's Degauss button and up popped some obscure Vietnamese techno thing...?

Funny Keatah,  I thought your post fit perfectly with the idea of having it all.  I didn't know it was a misprint.  That happened to me once and put one of my retarded musings on Random Terrain's serious update...Whoops!   I have no idea how it did that.

  3. Dungeon Stalker (7800) Joust (7800) Gradius (NES)
  4. I'm in the same boat (as in already have the SNES version) but no problems here with bonus items! (If they did offer it on NES instead I'd be all over it!)...Either way though, perhaps we can sell the additional copy and then buy the NES version...
  5. Remember in 1981,  when everyone could use their pop tabs to spell out P E P S I  S P I _ I T,  but nobody had an R?

      I thought it was a "T".

I remember getting cash back in the bottle tops of RC.  A dollar or two was the most I remember seeing but back then it was a big deal to kids!

From what I remember (and jr. high lunchroom chatter), There were some Ts out there, but very few Rs...Been a long while though,  I could be wrong.

  6. Shout Outs to 2: Time-Out in the Frontier Mall, Cheyenne, WY for all my early 80's needs and Vector Games!! Yeah! Le Mans, mid to late 80's and beyond when I had my own car and could drive there to kick back and get away from it all...
  7. Mr. Do! is so Awesome! If that ever becomes a reality, I'll buy it as soon as possible!
  8. I just don't think they should defund The Police.      I mean... King of Pain, Invisible Sun, Message in a Bottle,  They got some good stuff.

Right. And don't forget the beauty of BLM. I couldn't imagine my country being without it. Check it out right here!

  9. My completely uninformed opinion is that they're Great! I actually do have a whole bunch of them! But...They've barely been tested. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to really delve in...Someday I'll know for sure, but my initial reaction is pretty positive.
  10. If a song exists,  there should be a Metal version of it on YouTube.

Witchwolf & Metal Scent's covers of Del Shannon's "Runaway" prove this logic. ?

  11. I bought Titan for the PC Engine (boxed)...Didn't spend a fortune either* *Only meant as a generic comment as lots of Turbografx/PC Engine games do cost a ton... I knew nothing of this game until I played the Famicom version (I believe) on Evercade and I thought it was pretty cool.
  12. I like the Yar since Pitfall Harry is Activision.
  13. Sorry all. My comment wasn't meant to be anything disrespectful. It was only supposed to be one comment (and might save people time if they aren't on facebook). But then I felt I had to elaborate on it. Anyway best of luck on the contest.
  14. He could contact me right here on AtariAge with ease, though. And this is where I heard about the contest! Don't get me wrong, Brett seems like a nice guy and I wish him and everyone good luck with the contest. Considering it says free contest, I would have just liked a heads up that I would have needed Facebook to be involved, then I wouldn't have clicked on the video. Everybody's happy.
  15. Maybe tell people up front they have to have Facebook so they don't feel they've wasted their time when they try to support you.
  16. It's a Great contest idea until you get to the part where you have to have Facebook. Wish I could be in it.
  17. I dunno...A Neo Geo forum on AtariAge? I guess that'd be pretty cool. PSYCHE! 1 Million views?? DAMN!!! I just thought I'd quote post # 1 that started it all. Great Work Anthony! Keep it going! Cheers!
  18. I agree with everything you guys are saying. (Especially TwentySixHundred). What sucks about this case in particular is that when he was told how hard it was gonna be, he preferred to mouth off, like oh yeah, just you wait!...Then when it turned to exactly like everyone predicted, rather than ask for real help, or come forward and admit it was too hard, He was like: You know, just once this year I'd like to see someone with the intestinal fortitude to swallow their pride and admit that they were wrong.
  19. It has been a while. I'm pretty sure I ordered from them off of eBay, but it seems like maybe later I got something from their store. I don't remember having any problems...
  20. Thx jaybird3rd! I didn't know about this Pancake Boy business...It's hilarious.
  21. I was thinking how BITD, when Atari and ColecoVision were king, you almost never heard them mentioned or advertised on TV, give or take a few Saturday morning ads, or good 80's movies that knew how to sprinkle in pop culture references...Back then it was almost as rare as hearing a real heavy metal song on the radio.

@frankodragon Absolutely!  They even had to make their own text graphics for the game titles in that ad.

I do remember seeing a few ads on the back of comic books, when they weren't trying to sell ya X-Ray Specs or 7 foot tall Frankenstein Monsters...

      Speaking of,

Comic book movies were practically nonexistent too, give or take some Supermans etc.,  but for video games and comic books, and even finally hearing a song You wanted to hear on the radio...Let's just say,  It's not like it is today...

Yeah, for us all the Atari excitement for the 2600 was generated by visiting friends' houses who had it. We never had that console. There was a store called Video Concepts that was a national(or maybe it was only regional in the US midwest/KC area) but passing by it in the mall or downtown and seeing the Atari 400 then the 800/XL in there is what drove our wish lists!

EDIT: Found a mention of the store somewhere and I think it was national/owned by Tandy Corp possibly?  This was THE place to get VCR/Video equipment/Atari computers in the late 70's/early 80's.  Beta, VHS, Camcorders, LasterDisc...you name it....

On the wikipedia page for Tandy Corporation, they acquired  Video Concepts  in 1985. I think it was a national chain, because I have visited one (a mall in Olympia, WA) several times in the 80s and early 90s.
