Hey all, Can someone try Midnight Magic on theirs? For some reason I was thinking it played fine before, but maybe I just checked it quickly and moved on, and now I am getting a graphical glitch. I tried replacing the ROM too, but I'm still seeing a glitch. It seems to play OK, but one of the lanes is missing on the right side and there is some additional garbage at the top of the screen. The ball doesn't seem to be impeded by these glitchy graphics, so I guess it's only a matter of aesthetics... Thanks!

You know aside from I would have scored it higher, there is a lot I like in your review...I guess my first glance of the built-in games was, for me like, "Hey I see Adventure and Adventure II, and there's Dark Cavern!! ...This thing is gonna rule!" I didn't' even notice the lack of Pitfall or Midnight Magic, because I knew the SD Card support would cover it...OK I just tried Midnight Magic again and I'm seeing graphical glitches though it plays OK...HMMmmm....I guess your review is making more and more sense haha!... One of the funniest things though, is when you mention Blackjack...Because as a kid, I thought, "Who'd ever want to play That?" And sometime, somewhere in life, I gained Blackjack on cart...Don't even know where it came from (probably an ebay lot I suppose), but sometimes I'll see it on the shelf where it has sat unplayed for approximately 12 or 13 years...And I'd think "I'm Never gonna play that thing!", But the other day on The Flashback Portable I closed my eyes and picked a game at random and it just turned out to be Blackjack! And once I figured out what I was doing, It was Fun as Hell! Like being in Vegas (Even if I'm more of a Roulette man)...Never say Never I guess.... Cheers!

All right. Will do...As I wrote that, I was thinking more in terms of some people have had D-Pad issues, I've had no problems...Some people have sound issues. Although I seemed to remember a little buzzing when I first got it, as of late I don't hear a peep out of it, unless I crank it all the way up... And I didn't realize there was a screen difference until now... Anyhow, [On my Pre-Production unit] ... I see all the text as far as I can tell and Omega Race looks fine (this is the Driving Controller (DC) Version)... And my camera has a way of making things look worse than they really are...Man I didn't even see those smudges until my camera flash caught them LOL...Anyway...Hope these help!

Man, I Love my Flashback Portable! For me it's a 10/10. I can't figure out if everyone is just too hard on these things today or if I'm too forgiving...But I can already tell I have different opinions than a lot of people...Without going too far into it, I Love this thing even with my collection of real Ataris, My Multi-carts, My real carts..etc. ( The only thing I don't have is a Harmony (maybe soon))...And I have games available on Nintendo Portables and PSP, too....I certainly didn't buy this thinking it was going to replace any of that ...I just dig it for what it is...And the SD card support makes it even better!

I wonder if they have quality "inconsistency" issues? I don't seem to have a lot of the issues people have...

So JimmyIpock, Does your mod allow the D-Pad to still work also? Or does it Only function now with a joystick plugged in? Good work BTW!

I know I'm Not the most computer literate guy in the world...I'd probably describe my level of expertise as "Bonehead"...But even I had No Trouble with these ROMs...So it kind of begs the question, doesn't it?....Who is bidding on this stuff?

I think it's good to take someone's perspective into account... And I don't think too many of us here want to stand up for Retro-Bit either... We know Kosmic already bought one, and as Austin said, he's looking on the bright side... That said, I don't recall him really pimpin' it, or telling everyone they should get one...Or even saying it's great. And I could be wrong here, but I think he was just saying amidst all the bad news HE found some things he also liked about it...

Mine arrived safely in its box and it stayed in its compartment...I mention this only because someone else said theirs got bounced around... And At First, I thought I saw what could only be described as a "video tear", maybe 10 pixels long or so...(Yes like something you'd see in a VHS tape!) But when I took off the adhesive screen protector, it totally went away...So I guess it was just that protective plastic causing the illusion of a video tear...

Nothing wrong with taking a chance... You know the risks,... It's your money. You're a big boy. I mean In the end...you either like it or you don't...Or I suppose you might like some things about it...But, Life will probably go on even if it's not as cool as you were hoping. Sometimes you gotta roll the die. You only live once!* Or maybe multiple times depending on your belief system...

My quick take... Nintendo will continue to sell Minis...Living happily with the shortage headlines as a marketing ploy (Whether or not that was the initial intent...Perhaps they got their numbers by looking at VC sales and analyzing trends?...Hence getting Japan more Famicom Minis?...Just my guess ...)...And when March rolls around, while they continue to sell Minis, there will be more headlines... This time they will be talking about The Switch being delayed, while Nintendo will claim they underestimated demand for the console, and they are now "Ramping up production to meet possible shortages..." People, fearing a shortage, will be sure to line up to get The Switch when it does come out...Nintendo will have gotten lots of Free Press...Saved on their advertising budget... And, behind closed doors will be patting themselves on the back for a job well done ...

I am in the wrong line of work! Then again, more power to him/her...Ya know? You can't be mad because you didn't think of it first... If we ignore the obvious (ROMs) and consider it work for clever wording and doing the ummm "Pre-Configuring" then who are we to judge? If nobody bid then he'd be stuck with it...So maybe people shouldn't have bid....Then again...Victimless crime as far as I'm concerned...It's not like he started at $200...

This was so Awesome! OK So my first thought was... Ya know what'd be cool is to have The Vectrex speak in a font that resembled Vector Graphics... Keeping in mind I'm still basically asleep and haven't even had but one sip of coffee this dark and,early, early morn... So then I look up AND THE VECTREX IS SPEAKING IN VECTOR GRAPHICS!!! Was it always that way? Or is this some Real Twilight Zone shit first thing in the morning? Then I reread Keatah's comment and it seems he has even commented on it... Ya know what else'd be cool? Me winning some Lotto... HMMmmmm... I picked the wrong week to give up huffing spray paint and drinking fine cigars...

The way I see it...The NES Classic is Awesome, but for those that didn't get one "A Pi is way better..."...And I'm not disagreeing that Nintendo really messed up with those shortages. A lot of people would have bought one if they were available. Of course around Here, there are plenty of computer literate folk who really would prefer a Pi I suppose... The Retro-Bit is a different animal. It seems almost Universally loathed at this point...However part of that hating comes from it being such a good idea, IF They'd pulled it off properly...(Proper emulation speeds, more honesty as to which version of which game was being used, better controllers or the ability to use something else, etc. As for the few who bought one and are now saying "It isn't that bad...", Well I understand that better than most, because if I'd had any extra money when this thing first came out I'm sure I'd be one of them. 9 times out of 10, I'd rather jump into untested waters and not pay any attention to reviews or videos or other people's opinions....I'd rather make my own, and sometimes seeing something for the first time (and with no preconceived notions) is half the fun for me....I know other people who'd rather watch a video of someone else playing a game, while trying to decide if they're going to like it, or ask other people, "Well, do You like it?", "What do You think?" I'm not saying I'm immune to other people's opinions and that I don't care what other people think, but to me finding out what other people think is like a nice discussion, it's not a "be all end all" basis for buying something...I guess this is the exception that proves the rule however, because I am in fact Not Buying one based solely on what others have said... But if I had bought one, I'd be trying to look for the positives, too...Some of the games might be fun Even If they're the wrong speed or wrong sound, etc....And there's some cool games to test...But I think deep down I'd be disappointed the product hadn't been better from the get go.

Nintendo should hire a company analyst... I'm thinking Osgeld!

2 games is no big deal...I would be Very Surprised if you lost sales over (incompatibilities with) 2 games! Defender was a weird one anyway as it won't play on a Coleco ADAM, well it will play but won't move up IIRC... Keep up the Great work Ed!!!

FWIW I just tried Space Invaders Deluxe (Nukey Shay hack) and it Did Not work! Bummer! I had high hopes for it..The title screen comes up but then... nothing...

Cool! I had always assumed it was only earlier models...But, especially back then, I had no way of knowing...
