Coleco Chameleon .... hardware speculations?
ROFLcade replied to phoenixdownita's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'm not gonna lie, if a documentary of this whole saga is ever made, and it is released on Blu-ray/DVD/Laser disc/VHS/Betamax/whatever, I would buy the super ultimate limited classic collector's edition unrated director's cut with extra bonus content. Maybe even multiple copies if there were more than one color to choose from. -
I finally have a Primal Rage arcade cabinet set up in my basement!! RAGE!!

I just went to check it out, and I laughed out loud when I saw that the article calls it the "Retro Chameleon" due to Coleco yanking the license. Too funny. -

You know, they SAY that they are sick of talking about it, but I am not entirely convinced. I had a feeling that his latest appearance in this thread was going to generate some more CUPodcast subject material, and I was not disappointed. -
Nearing the end of my search for a dedicated Primal Rage arcade cabinet.....

Thanks!! I think I have found one. LOL, Primal Rage 2. Isn't there like only one of those cabinets in existence?

I think there may be 2 or 3 I've heard of, but I know of one guy that has a stockpile of PCBs. That he may or may not sell some day.

I don't recall this being posted here yet or not (and I'm not digging through all 298 pages to find out for sure), but when I did a Google search for Mike Kennedy, the second auto-fill result was "Mike Kennedy is a bad friend." Curiosity got the best of me, as I wondered if this was directly related to this whole RVGS / Coleco Chameleon saga. Nope, it's just a YouTube video of a short instrumental song called "Mike Kennedy is a Bad Friend" by some band I've never heard of called The Wonder Years. However, the comment currently at the top made me laugh. "The Mike Kennedy I know is a fraudster who ran the Coleco Chameleon sham." -

A handful of things I will always remember about the Retro VGS / Coleco Chameleon story, in no particular order: 1) Me finally joining Atari Age 2) Discovering the CU Podcast, along with lots of other good YouTube stuff from the members here 3) SNEZZZZZ 4) Power goes in, video comes out 5) An SNES mini doesn't quite fit into a Jaguar shell, but a DVR capture card does I'm not gonna lie, I kind of want to have something tangible to celebrate this whole saga. Maybe it's finally time for me to own a Jaguar. Or, at the very least, buy one of those white shells that is still available on eBay. -

The only problem with that prototype is that the controller isn't hardwired into the console. -

Out of curiosity, I went back to the RVGS thread to see what page the IndieGoGo started. It was right around page 100, so we're a little "ahead of the pace," so to speak. -

Yeah, but that's like 17 of the bacon-wrapped ones!! It's not considered good pizza, and I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack just by smelling it, but I can't help it.....that's guilty pleasure food for me. -

Yet another good thing for me that came out of going through that entire RVGS thread.....I never knew about the CUPodcast, and now I'm watching it fairly regularly. It's great!! -

Thanks for the welcome!! I'll definitely have a look around. I have certainly been inspired to go back to some of my older games. SNES is my main jam, so maybe I am the target audience for the Coleco Chameleon? lol -

Way back when the Retro VGS was first announced, I thought it sounded somewhat intriguing. I read a few articles about it, listened to a couple of podcasts, and figured I'd check back in on it when the kickstarter/indiegogo happened. I kind of forgot about it and didn't really look up anything until well after the indiegogo had failed. I think this was the article that got my attention: There is a link in that article to the 199-page thread on here (I've never really visited this forum, and just finally made an account) - and I read through the whole thing. It was one of the most entertaining things I have read in a long time, for a variety of reasons. Now I almost feel compelled to continue following this.....it's just so surreal. It's like a car crash.....I want to look away, but I just can't.
