  1. I may consider flying in for this one. Too far to drive..

I've driven from Cincinnati a few times, takes anywhere from 7-9 hours depending on whether or not Chicago traffic wants to play nice or not. Also, you're looking at paying like $75 for the shuttle to and from the Olympia from the airport in Milwaukee. Driving would probably be your best bet seeing as Southwest doesn't fly into Milwaukee :(

  2. I remember getting my ass burnt awhile back on a copy of Asteroids for 2600. Seller used a stock photo of a silver label Asteroids, I jumped on it and bought it, ended up getting a standard pic label cart in the mail. I didn't get too upset about it as I don't think the seller meant any malice in doing so, just licked my wounds and moved on.

  3. I imagine he's getting cold feet after having his ass handed to him on multiple items he's tried to sell on account of the lousy economy and atari market at this point in time. I ended snagging a copy of Up 'n Down and Spy Hunter in a lot from him a couple weeks ago for like $35, I thought I got a deal on it.

  4. I can tell you that they aren't made anymore... Chris Kamin (Kamino) used to build them for Goat Store for multiple systems and no longer does so. He got out of gaming pretty much completely a year or so and I don't expect to see him getting back into it. Also, I'd say he sold his soldering iron :)

  5. I had a good time at CCAG. Ended up not making as much money as I wanted to, but that's ok. It was definitely a buyer's market yesterday, as many sellers had similar selections of items. The problem for sellers seemed to be that most of the attendees were hardcore collectors who weren't interested in most items for sale, regardless of prices. If there had been more people to come in off of the street, more of the common stuff would've gone out the door. Oh well, we mostly sat and drank cheap beer all day, and that made it all worth it. I also got to add 11 2600 games to me collection and added a few orphan 7800 boxes to my collection. More than enough reason to go to the next show.

  6. I remember this was the same seller that sold a loose River Patrol a few months back that caught a mint. Shipping on it was outrageous as well, and the auction listing included a picture of dumb blonde. I guess she figures she has a free pass to rape collectors on shipping prices to recoup her ebay fees... whatever.

  7. I bid $183.67 for that Tank Command before going to bed last night thinking I had the damn thing in the bag... Guess I was severely mistaken. Tank Command is the last 7800 cartridge I need for at least a complete loose 7800 set, I'm still needing about 20 boxes and 10 manuals as well. I'm buying CIB stuff and selling their loose counterparts as I obtain them.

  8. I just paid ~$83 shipped for sealed copies of Ikari Warriors and Motorodeo from mabb96 about a week ago and I'm waiting for them as we speak. I think the prices were decent, considering what they used to go for. I'd like to have a Compumate keyboard at some point if/when the price comes down, as the price is a little rich for my blood. Judging by a few certain AA'ers prices on their auctions, there really is no justification for going at this guy's throat because he is merely selling something for more than you want to give.

  9. A belated bump. What are you looking for in trade? More specifically, what are you wanting for the modded Flashback 2? I let the smoke out of one already trying to do the mod and don't care to kill another one. Despite the compatibility problems it has, it would be much more convenient to drag this out to play 2600 games as opposed to getting the 4 switcher out of the box.

  10. My Dreamcast kiosk was in a pretty poor state when I bought it. It came up one day on Craigslist for $85 and I pussyfooted around for a couple hours deciding whether or not to go buy it. I checked on it a couple hours later to see the price dropped to $55. I drove an hour to pick it up to find it in a cat piss smelling basement covered in cat hair, furballs, dust, and what appeared to be aerosol spray glue all over the damn thing. I ended up getting it for $50, I didn't even test it before buying it. I took it home, opened it up and did a visual inspection of everything to make sure it wasn't going to blow up in my face when I plugged it in and it worked fine. I probably spent 10 hours total cleaning, detailing, and restoring it. The glue came off with Goo Gone relatively easily, it didn't retain any cat odor, and most of the scratches/scuffs/gouges buffed out with Novus #2. It went from being a 5 when I bought it to a high 8 now. I really wish I had before picture of this thing so I could show people how damn pitiful looking it was...

  11. I have a Dreamcast kiosk and it is a joy to have. The only thing that hurts it is that the display isn't very well suited for gaming. It's a low-end Samsung unit with mono sound with the television tuner function of the unit deactivated. It's around 4 foot tall, 2 foot wide, and 2 foot deep. They weigh about 100 pounds or so, and it's a 2 man job to move one. They've got a couple of oversized cooling fans inside them that are damn near too loud to bear, I've often entertained the notion of opening the back and unplugging them (There's a plug strip inside the back of the unit.) They're cool, they don't take up too much room, and they're fun to futz around with every once in awhile. Here's a pic of mine:

  12. I'm going to be making the mighty trek to the show from Cincinnati. I'm stopping in Toledo friday night and riding in saturday morning with a friend, stands to be a pretty good time. Any excuse to get loaded and buy videogames.

  13. I ended up buying a bunch of Sears and Activision 2600 label variants at MGC this year. I ended up spending about $200 at Ianoid's booth on a CtCW and a bunch of variants. Between Ianoid and Davenumbers, they got about $450 out of me :D. I plan on making a trip back up to WI in august or so to visit Davenumbers, should be a good time.

  14. This post is just to inform the membership that there has been a 5200 retail kiosk to pop up on ebay listed here:

The auction lists it as-is but "worked last time I tried it." It is said that it cannot be tested because there isn't 120v power availible to test it... However, there is an outline of a cage of a quartz light in one of the pictures that requires 120v. Just wanted to let anyone know that may bid to not get their hopes up. It's still cool, though.
