  1. WOW. That VCS Flashcart sounds great. I will be very interested in getting one when you can get it all worked out. I think I am not the only one who doesn't want to miss a chance like I (we) did with the Cuttle Cart. I really think these (and other!) homebrews are really great! -deadtech
  2. I got my Koffi the other day. I have been eagerly awaiting this game, and had not tried it out on any emulator. Well, it surpassed my expectations. It took me a while to get the hang of it, but now that I do, it is really great!! I usually don't care if a homebrew has a box or instructions, but the booklet was really well done, I must say. Thank you Cafeman, and I look forward to Adventure II, and any other fun stuff (?) you have in the works. -deadtech
  3. I plan on getting a Supercharger fairly soon. What are these mods you mentioned? Sounds cool. -deadtech
  4. I got 2600 Connection #73 the other day, and have been wondering if anybody knows any more info about the game mentioned in the cover article. The description makes it sound almost like Panzer Dragoon. The programmer David Lamkins, says he doesn't have a copy of it, and that if it exists at all anymore: "...it's either on a thirty year old hard drive in some Activision sotrage locker, or in a dusty prototype cartridge in someone's closet." So does anybody have any more info on this? (Tempest, I'm looking in your direction ) -deadtech
  5. 1st: I have never liked the Ecco games. Pretty? Sure pretty boring! (har har!) Kolibri on the other hand, I just could never figure out. Someday, perhaps I should actually read the manual. Usually, if a game requires you to read a manual, it is not worth playing, IMO anyway. -deadtech Keep It Simple, Stupid!
  6. Alright. First my CoCo exposition: I was visiting relatives last year, and I went thrifting in their area. I found a CoCo joystick. I had never owned or seen a CoCo in person, but bought it 'cause it was $1. The next thrift I went to...Boxed CoCo 3. $8. So I got about 4 games for it now (Rampage is fun ). However...... I thought (hoped!) this topic would be about how some PC company was now making all-in-one type desktop PCs. Picture something the size of a C=64, but with specs like a modern PC. And I don't mean fancy pants case mods/hacks. These huge, loud tower PCs gotta go. I mean they make laptops an inch think, why is my modestly equipped desktop so huge and loud? :/ (and yes, I know those smaller lappie style parts are more expensive/harder to manu.) -deadtech (edited for typos. grrrrr.)
  7. I just got the Stella CD, and have no way (yet) to play it. I am looking to get a Superchager (anybody with a spare, please feel free to email me) Anyhow, I was also a bit curious as to MakeWav as well. This would allow playing other VCS ROms, right? If they were converted to a sound file and burnt to a CD? That got me thinking as well, I know the SCharger can only handle 2 and 4K games right? What does that limit ones choices (game-rom-cd-burning-wise) to? I havn't ever used any emulators, so i am not real familiar with all this Rom file type stuff. (Sorry to kinda thread-jack, BTW) -deadtech
  8. I usually have a STRONG dislike for 1st person/cockpit style games. I have no love for 3D either. However, I really like the arcade T Mek quite a bit. The 32X version was pretty tough for me to track down, and to be honest I was a bit disappointed with the 32X version. I still llike it, but it isn't nearly as fast and hectic as the arcade one. I was thinking I may be the only person to even care about this game (32X or otherwise). -deadtech
  9. It did NOT poineer 4 controller ports!!! the Atari 800 and 5200 had four ports way back in '79 and '82!!! WOW. I didnt know that. So was there any good games that took advantage of four ports? I got an N64 at a thrift (!) last year. I have since found a few games that even I. the 3d [email protected], can enjoy. Anyway, I have seen this same mistake (N64 = 1st console with 4 controller ports) made before. Luckily, others brought up the 5200 and 400. However... the Bally Astrocade/Pro Arcade, released in 1978, ALSO had 4 controller ports. Right out of the box. So I do believe that is the FIRST console that can claim that. -deadtech
  10. I believe (althought I am not certain), that the fequencies that include Ch1, are reserved for Military and Government use in the US. That is why there is no commercial use of a "Ch 1". -deadtech
  11. Tower Toppler was also released for GameBoy and NES under the title "Castelian" in the US. -deadtech
  12. Hello folks, I was checking out some of the other forums on this board, and saw a mention of the VecVoice for Vectrex. I would like more info on this item? As a new (well, I should have it in a few days) Vec owner, I am interested in this thing. I have never heard of it, I guess it is a homebrew add-on? What games support it? Thanks for any info on this. -deadtech
  13. Hey, thank you for the tips, people! I will have to save up a bit (just paid rent), and get a nice sized batch of games. you know, basically everything you guys suggested... i had my eye on anyway. but it was good to get confirmation on the fun-factor of them. -deadtech
  14. Hello folks. I am interested in picking up a copy of Thrust for my VCS. But i am confused about the different versions. There are 2 that i know of: thrust and Thrust Plus. now, T-Plus is the same game right ? just with more controller options? Or am I mistaken? Any info would be appreciated. i want to support the eforts of these great homebrew game programmers! -deadtech
  15. I plan on placing an order with Randy at Hozer Vid soon. I initially wanted to get a copy of Marble Craze (played it at CGE and it rocks!), but now i am curious as to what else you folks would recommend. I am not so interested in hacks of existing games, unless they are significant improvments on the original. Any suggestions? What are the homebrew "must haves" for VCS available from Hozer? Thanks for any input. -deadtech
  16. I sent you an email for a preorder about as soon as you asked, months ago. I hope those are still archived. I am really looking forward to this game. -deadtech
  17. When I mentioned the Sears Telegames unit having different grain, I mean it is signifacntly different. The VCS's pictured above, while having different grain, look like they could be from the same "tree". My (and probably all) Sears units look like they are made from different "wood". I have no way of getting photos online, but here are some from this very site: http://www.atariage.com/2600/systems/sys_S...ideoArcadeB.jpg http://www.atariage.com/2600/systems/sys_S...ideoArcadeC.jpg Please note the smaller, darker grain. Like rosewood, perhaps. THAT, is what i was speaking of. Sure the various VCS systems may have different patterens, but all the same kind of wood. These ones are different! -deadtech
  18. I know this much: I have Atari 4 and 6 switch systems, same basic woodgrain. However, I also have a Sears telegames system, and it's woodgrain is different from the Atari ones. -deadtech
  19. My faves: VCS stick NES pad (also TG16, SMS) [but NOT the 7800 pad, the d-pad is lame] Worst: ANYTHING with analog anything. "Shoulder" buttons or "triggers" <-- I really hate them ALL (5200 are not bad, as long as they are in working order) -deadtech
  20. A friend of mine bought a loose Strider (for Genesis) and got it home only to find out that when he fired it up, it ws in fact Gunstar Heroes. Also, somebody pulled a similar switcheroo at a local Fucostop: they got in a Pokemon game, and it was actually Tetris, when they checked it out (but they only noticed after they had already bought it back). -deadtech
  21. I couldn't find any good pics, and they may be tough to track down in thier own right, but you may just want to get a Sega Sports Dreamcast. The are cased in black plastic, and even the controllers are black. -deadtech
  22. Here are some links that might interest you: http://www.classicgaming.com/shmups/review...ws/tf1/pc88.htm http://www.classicgaming.com/shmups/reviews/tf1/x1.htm Also, a game by Tec(h)noSoft that has a similar look, but different play style to TF2 is Herzog Zwei http://www.genesiscollective.com/ShowPage....hp?GameLink=235 Anyhow, hope those help yopu out. -deadtech
  23. Hello folks, I found a site that has some cool ringtones for Nokia (and maybe other, i didn't really check thoroughly) phones: (Note that they don't have any Atari related tones as far as i can see) http://arcadetones.emuunlim.com/ Also: Miles Prower, check out the "Misc" section, they have at least one Alex Kidd tone (I have never even used a mobile phone) -deadtech
  24. First off, Thanks Paul! I will look into BGMicro when I get a chance. Also: the Synthcart rocks! I think it's really great that you made a new game for VCS that has a truly new mechanic (the dual touchpads). That is why I am also very eagerly awaiting your upcoming game. Two sets of paddles?! Cool! -deadtech
  25. Hello folks. I got an Intelly II recently, but it has no power supply. I tried Radio Shaque, but no luck. Anyhow, here is some info from the Intelly FAQ: This unit also used a non-standard AC Adapter, making it near impossible to find a replacement at your local Radio Shack. For those who are handy enough to construct their own, here are the specs: Input: 120V 60Hz 25 Watts Output: 16.7V AC 1.0A Even if that is correct, is it tip positive, or negitive? Also....ANY chance one of you fine folks have a spare INT II PS? Or know where I can get one? Or a compatible one? Jeez. Oh yeah, I also have a Sears Tele-games Intellivision unit (forgot the exact name), and I have no controllers for it. Any source for those? Thanks everybody! -deadtech
