is there a non-greedy person selling the atari 2600 for it's actual price?
AMenard replied to memelord's topic in Atari 2600
I was kidding. I live about 15 minutes from the US border but since 9/11 crossing the border is a royal pain. I miss the good old day when we didn't need a passport to go visit our neighbor to the south. -

Power Supply Shield Darkened - is this normal?
AMenard replied to rpiguy9907's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Then it's just corrosion due to heat. The chrome plating becomes dark over time when heated and with the air moisture. -

Blackened as in soot or just the chrome plating being darker and dull? -
Annoying things about your favorite systems?
AMenard replied to BassGuitari's topic in Classic Console Discussion
My biggest annoyance with one of my favorite system, the ST, is the way they designed the video output making the use of a modern display more complicated than the Amiga. On the Amiga a simple scandoubler or an upscaler and you're set. On the ST I have to use two cables and two display... -

Then, there's also those who pass themselves as needy/broke to play on the generosity of others but are in fact active flipper looking for cheap stuff to make $$$ on. Forums and Facebook are getting innundated by those. -
Bought a replacement PSU for the Atari ST I just bought since it's an euro 220v and I'm in Canada. It's a modern drop in copy of the original. Also bought an RGB -> VGA cable to be able to use the hires monochrome resolution beside the mid and low res that I'll get from the SCART cable.

Good luck in your search. -
I got a 520STfm from europe recently (it's over the Atlantic right now :-) ). I bought an ultrasatan SD hard disk emulator for it for storage and have a spare gotek ready to reflash for it. For the video I got a RGB to SCART cable for color and a RGB to VGA cable for mono. I have a SCART to HDMI upconverter that works quite well with my Amiga that I'll also use with it.

Load up an emulator and download the roms cost: $0.00 It's a seller driven market. -
Hi, Since I'm soon to be reunited with an Atari 520 STFM (from Greece of all places) I'm wondering what is the best modern solution to have access to the three video mode on a modern display? The machine comes with a 13pins DIN->SCART cable that I coud use with my SCART->HDMI upconverter which works fine with my A500, but I don't think I'll be getting the hires mono display with this setup. Anybody know of a cable(s)+devices that would let me hook it up to a modern LCD (not 15hz capable)? Preferably one that is available for purchase without selling a kidney...

Pure evil, I say. There will be hell to pay. Joke aside it's quite a nice device. And since I've got a few extra Amiga compatible mouses laying around, I'll just modify one to use with the Atari. All that is needed is a simple swap of pin 1 with pin 4.

Got myself a 520 STFm from Greece of all places I could find one. Since it's an european model I ordered a PicoPSU and a 12v PSU to do the conversion. I then went to Amedia and got myself a few things: an Atari RGB to Scart cable UltraSatan ACSI to DB19 adapter cable for the UltraSatan Now I need to find either a mouse or an USB/PS2 mouse interface for it and an external floppy drive (more for collecting than using). I intend to extend it to one meg ram if I can source the chips cheaply. Would have prefered getting a 1040 but sometime you have to make do with what's available (and what you can spend!). Now the 16/32 bits part of what I use to own is quasi complete.

Hi, Presently looking for a working 520 or 1040 STf/STFm/STE, not too picky about the looks but must be all working. NTSC or PAL either will do.

Bought a 3.5" and 5 .25" floppy drive for the kryoflux. also received my A1200 ACA1230 and Indivision AGA Mk2.

I have one, but the shipping cost would be too huge for what it's worth. I use a Commodore4ever psu with mine, really nice build. I also use a Ray Carlesen PSU for my Amiga 500 & 1200

That's pretty much a US thing. Here i have two choice when shipping to the US. Regular parcel surface which is for small and light parcels, thing a few books, a couple of games or a sega genesys. But for the two parcels that i'd to ship thuesday, one was an atari computer, two drive, 3 psus, boxed 850 interface, cable and accessories. That one weight in at 50 pounds and had to go expedited and it was costly. The other one, the x360 plus games and psu was also too heavy for the regular parcel and ended up costing the better part of the profit.

Gawd damn imbecilistic porcine of a failed postman... First package (Amiga 500 from UK), he got out of the truck, looked at the package tore the card from it and rang the door to give my old mother the card. This mean that I had to go fetch the package at a drop point the day after. That was yesterday. Today , same genius, comes to the door with my second package (Amiga 1200 also from the UK) this time asking my old mother of 84, nearly blind and deaf, to pay $38,65. She answered that she had two $20 for $40. The guy refused because he can't make change and won't keep the change either. It's exact cash or bust. He also can't accept check which is funny since all of their competitor do. She called me at work to give me the news. I said ok, at least I can make it at the drop point for the first package since it's a store and I can get there before it closes. Once there I gave the clerk the card and my drivers licence as proof, she goes backstore to get the package and then proced to scan it... And at that point she realised that this on also as a chage of $45 and some change. I go for my wallet and the clerk quickly explain to me that they can't accept paiment here and that package should've never been delivered to them in the first place... Now she has to wait for the guy to come pick it up tomorrow and I have to wait for a new card to be issued... Which means that I'll have to quit my job at 2 at the latest tomorrow and try to beat trafic so I can get to the post office before closing and hope that at least one of my package is ready for pickup, hoping the second on makes it also. I hate Canada Post.

I bought a Kryoflux today. Now I need to check if I have compatible drive laying around. I have a couple of Simulation Canada wargames that are absent from the HOL. Need to scan the docs and maps too.

Good fantasy role-playing games for Atari 800XL
AMenard replied to Keneg's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
There's a subset of C on the Atari 8bit called Lightspeed C, but it's quite limited compared to C on 16bits and up. -
