  1. I'll also have to find some plastic stand-off for the motherboard as most of them are broken off. I may have to use some brass one, with fiber washer if I can't find some originals.
  2. I watch many games related yt channel but I've dropped a few. I've dropped those that only present their latest buy or found game like Adam Koralick (sp?) And those who only bitch about the games (avgn). I prefer those youtuber who talk about the history or does research on games like Guru Larry and Kimjustice. I used to love gamesack but the bearded one is getting on my nerve lately. Pat is a special case for me. I love most of their subject but they need to work on their "presentation". If they could just stop putting their hand or finger over their mouth when they talk i'd give them a better score.
  3. I did adapt a few coco listing for my MC-10, but the first computer I created a program from scratch was the Atari 130XE.
  4. Hey, Received my 512k ram upgrade today. Well, it's been sitting in the post office since 30/05 because the original delivery card never made it to me... I liked the packaging though I'm not sure what the aluminium foil wrapped block of foam is for :-) In any case I should try to take the time this weekend to install it. Thanks again!
  5. Bought some TMS4164-20NL ram chip. Also bought a couple of SN74166N to try and fix my "untested, power on" Apple IIe. Received the following purchases today: C128 Basic 8 rom and floppy disk 512k Ram expansion for my 130XE 2x 2600 style joysticks, for use with my 130XE and C128 50x DS-2HD floppy that I bought by mistake having missread the type. Oh, well they were about $4 a box so no biggy... 25x 1cm squared aluminium heatsink. Will be used to keep my favorite machine's chips cool.
  6. Ithink I may have a lead.... LS166 (SN74166N) which sit between the video rom and the ram gets quite hot while everything else is cold or barely warm after a minute.
  7. Taken with my ipad so the dark bar is the ipad not the display.
  8. I took a small video of the display to better show you the problem https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=32xRlahwJ2M
  9. Of course not! While I don't have much experience repairing A2e I'm still an IT tech with 20 years experience under my belt. I'm just more used to more modern tech while some of you have already debugged a few and saved them from the scrap pile .
  10. Good thing, all the chips are socketed. I've got some TMS4164-20NL on order. I also have an enhance kit which include new roms, video and CPU. Will take the board out tomorrow and check the trace to see if any defect is visible. Don't seem to be any electrolitic cap on the mobo so there's one less thing to worry about.
  11. Hi, I've bought an "untested, power on" A2e. Of course it doesn't work as expected. I bought it to try to repair it or worst case scenario, use it for spare parts. It does power on but I get this display: What are your opinion about what could be wrong with it?
  12. Received my ReactiveMicro Drive Turbo dual CF card interface and my Enhanced chipset for the IIe. I should receive my Untested Apple IIe tommorrow... Do I feel lucky? In any case i bought it as a resto project starting with a full recap of the board and PSU and brand new regulators. I'll install the enhance chipset if everything else is ok. I'll do something simmilar to the duodisk, change caps and lubricate. I have another Apple IIe on the way so I may have a spare or one to trade for other tidbit and curios, The mono monitor i'll keep as they're better to code on. I also plan to start recaping my 1702 to remove that 60hz buzz. The screen is clear and crisp for it's age but the noise is unbarable. Goog thing I invested in a desoldering gun and reflow station. In other news, my C128 came on monday. Haven't open it yet. I'm waiting for a ntsc to pal conversion kit. I'm also waiting for Basic 8 roms to get here.qqq
  13. I didn't have a 2600, I bought the Coleco Gemini instead. I only had 3 games for it before being forced to sell it to get food. I had a billiard game, can't remember the name, Donkey Kong and the Gemini build in Mouse Trap game. Mouse Trap was my favorite but I did like the other two.
  14. On the other hand, Goowill and Value Village are non-profit with the money going to charities. No point for them to sell you something for $2.00 when they know a big bunch of people just list those items on ebay for profit once they get home, profit that may have benifited someone in need.
  15. 130XE is reliable. Been using mine for the past 10 years and the only trouble I ever had with was oxydation on the keyboard ribon cable which a simple pull out, re insert corrected. The only plus that I see for the XL line is the placement of the cart port on top instead of in the back and matching colors with the accessories.
  16. We don't have any Goodwill here in Quebec. We do have Value Village though. I do my round twice a year, mostly for CDs and LPs but I do find the occasional console game deal. I never find anything interesting in the electronics section and would be a little afraid of bringing in my home a few ride-along roaches.
  17. Now I've taken the habit of specifying to the seller how I want it packed and shipped (at my expense and politely of course). I understand why you may not care, but i rarely do what you do. I mostly buy to use and I'm presently out of a tape deck with a dozen brand new, sealed, tape gathering dust because of that guy :-)
  18. The last time I had trouble with a seller was for a badly packaged Teac cassette deck. The guy used a single layer of cheap bubble wrap in a tight cardboard box. When the deck got to me one corner was bashed in and one motor was torn off and loose inside the machine. The guy seemed to be a "pro" at this since most of his replies to my complaint were what I would considered stock, multi paragraphs, legalese filled email. The guy even made legal threat if I wouldn't drop my claim. He even lied in his last email, telling me that ebay had told him he had won the case and that I'd be banned if I didn't drop my claim in the next 24h. But what piss me off is that you can't leave a negative feedback after you've won your case. That transaction is locked. So bad sellers can, and do, continue to prey on people.
  19. Running my first Basic program designed and coded by myself. It was a character sheet and random monster creator AD&D utility. I coded it on my Atari 130XE and it printed out the generated characters or monster on my 1027 printer.
  20. Rogue type game from Mastertronic on the C64 where you had to kill a vampire.
  21. I think I saw a kit somewhere to convert the tank mouse to an optical mouse, but i don't remember wher I've seen it.... It's a pcb replacement.
  22. I didn't own a TI99/4A back in the days, so it's all new to me
