Well at least they did improve the keyboard compared to an O2.

I really like reading YN. I really liked the Basic tutorials.

looks great! I vaguely remember reading about those in a french computer magazine back in the day, but I've never seen one in the wild.

You wrote: "Atari 1200 - Not a popular choice, but I really think it looks terrible. It's like they took a 800XL - which still looks great, and just slapped a huge Frasier forehead on it. Thankfully, it didn't leave the U.S." Since the 1200XL came first, they couldn't take anything from the 800XL design wise. You: "The OP wanted comments on "Visually", NOT "Usability". If we were talking about usability, then my list would be very different." And the meaning of the thread isn't clear going by the title. And drop the "tude" man. I'm polite and respectful and I expect the same. If you have a problem with my post take it to the mods.

Some new (not really) hardware made by tfhh
AMenard replied to tf_hh's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
If it's a machine you intend to use and not a "collection" piece, you may just cut part of the shield with a Dremel. 8-Bit guy did the same on a C-64 to fit a dual-sid board. -
I believe the 1200XL was designed prior to the 800XL The biggest beef I've with the C128 is the placement of the power connector. It should've been in the back. As for which stood the test of time the best I would go for the big three, Apple IIe, C64\128, Atari 8bit computer. I'm in Canada so I don't have any experience with the speccy. And esthetics is less important for me than usability.

Open box is never new in my book. An why would someone open a new, sealed box, to verify its content unless it came from somewhere shady in the first place. Also be especially warned about all the new stuff advertised on ebay from sellers from Venezuela. I'm seeing a great amount of "brand new" retro computers and consoles being offered from there. Considering the total chaos down there I wouldn't change it.

Is some TI legacy hardware becoming redundant?
AMenard replied to Omega-TI's topic in TI-99/4A Computers
Yes I know, this is why I've fitted dowels in the screw holes pn the bottom so that each stacked drive rest one inch above the one bellow as to help the airflow :-) -

The PeB is a beast but it double as a monitor stand so in the end it doesn't take all that much extra space on the desk. The 1541, like the atari 850, stack on each other so you only lose the space of its width on the desk. The Apple 2e is also a beast but since the floppies and the monitor can be stacked on top of it it isn't all that bad. These are computers, not game console. They were meant to be used with peripherals. Modern alternative are great (I use some), but for some of us, we're into retro computing for using the original hardware, not just playing games. If all I wanted was to play the games than I'd be using an emulator for the most part. -
What's the Most "Portable" Home Console?
AMenard replied to Games Retrospect's topic in Modern Console Discussion
There was a flip screen that could be attached to a PSone and PS2 back in the day. This would be a nice console to bring on a visit. Not too heavy or big and with a cd wallet for the games. -

Does it come with a pair of singing midget japanese twin? -
Bought durin the weekend. - One Apple IIe with duodisk drive for cheap. Untested except power on which mean it's probably not working but I love a challenge. - Another Apple IIe with two floppy drive and a green monitor (Apple flip screen one), but this one seems to have a soundcard and a few other goodies inside, plus many disk and manuals. Cost twice as much as the first one but it's in good working condition. I also bought a couple of things from retroactive: - an enhance chipset (roms + cpu), since I don't know if either has them and it's needed by my second item - A CF card interface for the enhance IIe with dual CF adapter and 512meg CF card pre-configured.

Pleasure was all mine, really.

Oh, I'm keeping it as it is. I would have mod it if it was trivial to do so, but I won't start butchering it when I've got a C128 on the way. I'm also trying to get my hand on a PAL C64C...

Looking for a working set. Doesn't have to be pristine.

Thanks! -
No there isn't too many youtuber. I pretty much only watch youtube video now. The only time I turn my TV on is to watch the news or the occasional movie on bluray. My subs list has more than a hundred channel in it on varied subjects. If I wasn't taking care of an elderly parent at home who's a big fan of sport I wouln't even have a cable subscription or a TV for that matter.

I'm looking into getting one also (kryo). Does anybody could recommend me a good, compatible, 5.25" floppy drive to go with it? I already have a spare PSU to power it. A compatible 3.5" would be nice also for future use. -
Oh well, I've got a C128 on the way so no big problem as it will be my main machine anyway (for commodore stuff). That 5 pins C64 is a recent acquisition (real cheap $$ for once) and is in like new condition, beside the normal oxidation on the tin plated connectors which I cleaned with deoxit. It'll be my spare in case the C128 goes belly up. And while I wait for the C128 to get here I took the time to fix my 1080. The composite video jack was loose and it was missing the two screw post beside the rgb jack. The speaker is also defect but since I'm using a PC speaker/sub for audio I don't really care.

Still looking.

Hi, I'm wondering what are the option for improving the video output on a 5 pin C64 since it lacks a true chroma output via the connector ( it only offer luma and mixed composite). Is there a way to tap a pure chroma signal on those model?

Yeah he missed all those years in between there and now where people converted those floppies to .D64 image of other format making the need for a copy program obsolete. Beside every serious C64 user back in the day downloaded a copy of this copy 21 program from his favorite BBS... I know I did.
