I was wondering... Does anybody have a BOM of the part needed to refurbish the PEB PSU? After more than 30 years at least the electrolytic caps needs replacing. Same goes for the 99. The 99 PSU can be replaced by a PC PSU according to http://www.mainbyte.com/ti99/hardware/power_supply.html but isn't the console regulators expecting +16V?

You can also do this on some model of the C64 by swapping the VIC II, the Crystal and cutting a trace I think.

Can the STE's PCM sound chip play Amiga modules?

Firepower Sorry I missunderstood -
My end goal is to get an A500, preferably a PAL one, with a ram expansion. I'm not really into accelerators and most of the good stuff was marketed with the A500 in mind anyway since it was the most common machine. I understand people going all out on pimpin' their Amiga to bring it into the 21st century, but in the end the experience isn't that great. I did have an A1200 for a couple of month in 2016 that I upgraded with an ACA1230/128mb, and Indivision DVI output, CF card reader, Ethernet adapter, updated the kickstart, the works! But in the end I was only playing games that could have easilly run on an A500 with 1meg of ram. So I sold it and brought out my old A1000 but then I was limited to games that would run in less than 512k.

I've just mailed an Amiga 1000, two keyboard, an external floppy drives and all the cables in a 30x22x10" box for a total weight of 11,60Kg Priority mail from Montreal, Qc to WI and it cost me $78Cdn including taxes. I just don't see how this box of cart can cost more than that big and heavy box I just sent. $82US is like $95 to $100Cdn...

Will do.

But would this deprive the guy after him of some carts that he may have wanted? I understand that the most common games can be removed, but if each person removes unwanted card, for a reason or another, then the next person will have less titles to chose from than the guy before him.

What's the latest Atari related thing(s) you've bought on ebay?
AMenard replied to Ross PK's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
I got a new Chroma/Luma separated video cable for my 130XE to hook up to my restored 1702 monitor. I'm moving my A1080 to my soon to arrive TI99/4A setup until I can replace both with a modern solution. -
The PEB should ship this thursday. I should receive it by next week depending on Canada Post. I'm like a child waiting for Santa :-) I was wondering... Has anyone ever developped some new or reinvented cards for the PEB? I know someone made an interface to put the Speech Synth inside the PEB, but what about a CF/IDE type interface or other devices? I think the Tipi will be available as a PEB card, no? My next holy grail will be the PHP-1270 and UCSD Pascal. But that is only once I learned ASM and Forth. So in a few years LOL!

Added 1541 and zoomfloppy device to the C128.

Most of the bad reputation that magnetic media has is mostly coming from people who used crappy brand on equally crappy equipment. Like people judging the audio quality of tape by listening to dollars store cassette brand on cheap boombox...

I have Floppies that have outlived the CD and DVD backups that I've made of them...

I'm surprised RS and TRS-80 aren't more recognized..?
AMenard replied to Keatah's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
They even left the easter egg in the roms from the original coco... The Dragon didn't make it to Canada, at least not in my province, except for some in surplus/liquidator stores when it was already discontinued. -
Added some stuff and removed sold or traded items.

I really don't see how this could cost $82 to ship unless you're overdoing it with the packing materials. Carts by design are sturdy enough that they don't really need protection especially if you don't care about the labels. Try reducing the size of the box which has as much an impact on the cost of shipping than the weight. The last package that I've shipped from Canada to the US was a PS4 with 12 games, controllers, wires and it cost me around $45Cdn for expedited with $300 insurrance...

AMenard replied to Keatah's topic in Classic Computing Discussion
TRS-80 were well known where I live since just about every town had its RS store while computer stores were a rare thing. The coco would also have been more popular if Dragon in the UK didn't outright copied it thus limiting export. But like the Dragon the coco suffered from using a lest common CPU, the 6809, instead of the more popular z80 or 6502 and thus crippling the porting of applications and games to it. -
