TIPI - TI-99/4A to Raspberry PI interface development
AMenard replied to jedimatt42's topic in TI-99/4A Development
I misspoke. When I said taking it out, I meant ruling out the possibility of adding it in or supporting it in some way. -
TIPI - TI-99/4A to Raspberry PI interface development

Well, RS232 could still have it use for hobbyist so I wouldn't take it out if it was me. -
Programming in GPL Assembler on TI99/4a

Ah, the youngare so lazy these days... You just have to learn all the hex representation of the token in ram that you write down on a paper pad with a blunt #2 pencil -

arcadeshopper seems to have both in stock... -
TRANS,WALL,9VAC/1500mA TRANS,WALL,SW,5VDC/3A Those will be used for a switchable universal PSU for my 8bit computers. I don't run two system at a time so only one output will be active at a time. I'm now looking for fuses recommendation for the 9Vac and 5Vdc side. I also have to buy some grommets, switches and fuse holder.

Copying real Atari disks to .ATR files
AMenard replied to xyz378537's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
Depends if they're copy protected or not. You could always install a Happy mod in your 1050 or you could try the many already cracked .atr of your games that you can find on the web. -

Reading on his site, there is a mention of the list being at 70% or so of planned devices. If you want to be on the waiting list, please send me your name and email via my contact form. I will make another batch of F18A boards once there is enough demand. Current demand is about 70% as of October 3, 2017. -
Programming in GPL Assembler on TI99/4a

Wow, Thanks! -
The C64 at first wasn't all that great. We tend to judge the C64 by the later releases on the system and not on what was available at launch. Both the atari and the apple had a few years under their belt and the games and apps developper had time to learn how to code for those two arch. In the 8bit scene both the atari and the c64 were comparable and would trade blow over their career. Neither disapointed me.

It seems there is a new batch coming along. I've just sent a message to Matthew at Code|hack|create asking him to put me on the list for one. I can only wait and hope now. -

I may add an F18A to the list if I ever find one that I can afford. -
I give myself the next year to find an acceptable alternative to the Amiga 1080 and CRT TV that I still use. I may have to save and buy myself a Framemeister if need be.

We had Sears, Eaton and Consumers Distributing in the good old days for catalog shopping here in Quebec. The last one was my favorite since you could actually go to the store, which only had about four standind counter/desk and an ordering counter, fill out the ordering form there and they'll go in the backstore to get your stuff. I got my Vic-20 and dataset there.

Isn't the TI99/4a color monitor just a stripped down consumer TV anyway?

Collecting goals and status for 2018
AMenard replied to Keatah's topic in Classic Console Discussion
What I want: Mostly accessories and addons for the sytem that I own, modern or classical. Original version of assembler for the system that I own (Atari 8bits, C64/128 and TI99/4a). I know I can get disk image but I want the real deal :-) Start coding! Peace and goodwill to all men and women. re-learn to draw. I used to be able to and I want to get back to it, just like I did with my old computer programming hobby. A Framemeister to replace my cheap comp/s-vdeo -> VGA or -> HDMI gizmut that gives me crappy picture on all my LCD monitors. Get back into electronics. I have a nice electronic workbench that I want to bring back to life. Maybe find a couple of kit that I could assemble for myself. What I want to get rid off: Probably the Apple II Platinum. It's a nice machine with lot of expandabilities and available addons, but I grew up with the Atari and C64 and it feels a bit too alien to me. I know that the TI99/4a is also as alien to me, but I see that one as a challenge more than an annoyance. I always wanted one but could never afford it in its prime. By the time it was discounted I already moved to the Commodore and Atari computers. I'll also sell off one of my PC, which is an Haswell based i5 that I replaced this year with a Ryzen 7 1700X. It's presently used as a file server for my retro computers and emulators. It will be replaced by a Laptop that I also own since I don't need a physical RS232 port as I now own USB device to transfer data to my Atari and C64/128. My old CRT TV which still works great but takes way to much space. My A1080 monitor which after about 30 years is way past it's retirement date. My A1000. I think the Amiga emulator and FPGA solution are getting to the point that it can be replaced. I also don't get the same kick using the Amiga as I get from the C64 and Atari funny as it is. Maybe with a more upgradeable machine I would feel differently but frankly the A1000 is starting to be more trouble than it's worth. -
Programming in GPL Assembler on TI99/4a

Was there ever a native GPL dev environment for the TI99/4A either cart or disk based? -
Thanks!

Is it too late to get one? Possibly an assembled one without case?

any atari st 'replicas'/modernized available?
AMenard replied to mr. engino's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Emulation is good and there also the Mist FPGA with the ST core, but I don't know how well it does. I think they spend more effort on th amiga than on the ST.
