  1. The Apple 2e is fully functional. Only missing one key. I have yet to test the two Disk II drives. Will clean and lubrificate them first. Of the two TI99, one's a dud and the other one is missing a key. But for $60Cdn I'm satisfied even if I hade to make a 650km round trip to get it.
  2. Hi, I was looking for some classic computer to repair and asked around in some of the facebook group I post on. I was especially looking for an Apple IIe since I have many spare parts for those. I've found one for cheap and as a bonus the guy gave me a couple of untested incomplete TI-99/4A. Both are missing keys (different keyboard mechanism on both) and one seems to have been modded. I don't have a PSU to test them yet, but since the non functional Apple IIe appears to be FULLY functionnal, I wouldn't be surprised that at least one of the can be rescued. I was wondering if somebody has a spare keyboard or the missing key(s) for me to complete one key set? I guess the one missing a single key would be easier to complete.
  3. Hi, Well, I went on what I could call an expedition or scavenger hunt. I was looking for a non functional Apple IIe to repair. It's my new hobby :-) somebody on one of my facebook group had one for really cheap if I could drive there and pick it up, which I did, 650km total round trip! Well, the sad part for me is that the Apple IIe is fully functionnal... The good news is that it's only missing one key. I have a spare keyboard that I could use but this one came with the light brown, big apple logo keys insted of the greyish ones I'm used to see. It's missing the UP arrow. I was wondering if somebody as a spare laying around? I'll pay for it and for shipping. I'm also looking for a ram/80 columns card also.
  4. Bought a few 1,25v fuse with leads to repair a Commodore 1702 with a blown one.
  5. I consider the Adam in the same niche as the TI-99/4A. Both are nice niche machine plagued by some stupid business decision that came back to byte them in the yazoo. Yes the tape drives of the Adam were a bit silly, but then again the C64 was stuck with the 1541 that wasn't really all that faster or store that much more data on it. If it wasn't for the reliability issues with the Adam I would bet it would have an active community like the TI still enjoy here. But the reality is, that most people did disposed of theirs when the PSU or other part stopped working and replaced it by a PC running a pirated copy of wordperfect or some other software. Personnaly, I would like to find one, even a non functionnal one to fix and add to my setup. I'd love to try my hand at coding for the machine.
  6. You can also use something like https://www.rainmeter.net/to customize Win10
  7. Bought a couple of defective TI-99/4A and Apple IIe for almost nothing. These will keep me occupied for a while. At worst I'll get spare parts out of them for my homebrew computer project, but I should be able bring a few back to life.
  8. Oh, I did buy something else. Something I enjoyed when I was a teen. I bough a plastic model kit of a T-72. While not a videogame it is still retro as a hobby :-)
  9. Nice! Me I bought a bunch of components on ebay from China... They're on a slow boat somewhere in the Pacific... Oh well, more time to finish my PCB design for my auduino synth.
  10. That website is a bit of a mess though, especially for placing an order.
  11. I have a Hauppauge Colossus for HD capture via component/hdmi. For SD I still use a toshiba dvd-r recorder that I also use as an upconverter. Not ideal but then again, I only capture for my own enjoyment and use, not for streaming or youtube.
  12. Maybe someone in europe will be interested. The main problem with the ST, unlike the Amiga, is the video output that is a bitch to work with unless you have CRTs or really old LCDs laying around. Don't get me wrong, I love the ST, but it's less supported by modern hardware hacker.
  13. Not gaming related, but I ordered the parts to build myself an auduino synthetiser (arduino based granular synth). I'm presently designing my pcb in kicad from Notes&Volts schematics.
  14. Did he run out of smd resistor for R1? That poor through hole resistor is squeezed in so tightly... :-)
  15. Would be nice to know where you live if it's a local pickup only thing :-) Damn, I'm getting old... I missed the first line :-)
  16. Devil crush and alien crush are great, both are favorite of mine. It was an intermediary console. Better than a NES but lagging behind what a Gen or a SNES could do.
  17. I bought a newly made keyboard membrane for an A1200 this year. If there's a need somebody will make the part. Contact blocks are the same, someone could make a 3d printed run. The only difficult parts are the custom ICs, but even them can be reproduced with modern component just like the C64 PIA and SID replacement are available today. And I don't know if you've looked into it, but since the advent of the Arduino and rPi, electronics as a hobby has had quite an uptick in interest, especially with the younger gen. The whole maker scene is quite active.
  18. Same with cars, yet plenty of peoples are doing it either as a hobby or professionaly. In any case, legal or not, people will still do it either way. Prohibition never works when it comes to popular products accesibility. It didn't work on alcohol or drugs and it sure as hell never work against media piracy. People can play the authoritarian advocate against piracy on an internet forum all they want, it doesn't matter much. People will still copy, rip or dump. At this point, nobody care about the legality of it.
  19. Stealing would be depriving him of his good. making a copy, a "spare part", doesn't.
  20. I do it myself personnaly. I love repairing stuff. The only difficulty comes with finding proprietary ICs as modern substitutes exist for the other electronics part. Even then, you can always cannibalize one bad unit to repair another one.
