      I changed jobs partly because of that very issue. I was working part-time for the Army as a student, and I could have gone full-time once I graduated, but I had learned enough about the job to know it would have been a mundane, mind-deadening existence. I left and started teaching a few years later, and even though I probably walked away from a lot more money, I've never regretted it.

    Good? 😂😂😂 I'm not good at all, still enjoy my games though. I can complete a couple of the games I have, but you'll never see me in any high score lists.

    This is true, I was just trying to be some comic relief. However, I suggest the Atarisoft games. I enjoy Pac man a lot, also PB Qbert is great as well.

      Apparently it's run by someone pretty well known in the Apple II community, but has a bad reputation with his store, or so my deeper research has shown me. Oh well it wasn't a large sum

      seems to be par for the course with many of the classic computer and console guys anymore. Even if they're retired, still takes them a while to get back to you, get your purchase out, etc. Just need to expect the worst and be shocked when things go smoothly anymore I guess. Such is the hobby.

    I say go TI-99/4A. Good ports of great games, inexpensive-ish, we have people who make stuff for it on the forum. You can expand over time. Its shiny. Its not a Vic-20, but it's still a decent choice.

    I have had an odd problem with my Apple II+ clone in which on one television I get strictly black and white (its a LXI color tv that is working correctly) and color only (assumed graphics mode) on another TV (MAGNAVOX). I was wondering if anyone might have ideas as to what is causing this issue. If I power cycle the MAGNAVOX it seems to attempt text mode but the screen goes haywire. Pictures will be provided to help give you an idea of what happens.

    I'd there a particular IC or part of an Apple II plus that switches it between text and graphics mode? still trying to figure out why one tv stays in text mode and the other stays in graphics mode.

    Installed my replacement V key on my Apple II + clone and it's working great. However, the color killer on the board seem to have gone bad as I can't display color, but that's another beast for another time. Perhaps I'll invest in a monochrome screen to eleviate the problem.

      Just tried it on a Magnavox 13 in (the lxi is 9in) and it displays only color so... Not sure what's up. However, as of right now I can live with the black and white.

    There was an educational game for the Apple ][ that had a couple of games that you could choose from but required you to do a couple math problems and them you could play the game for a period of time and then you did more math problems. One of the games was that you built walls around a castle to protect your king from outside attackers. No idea what it was called, but I use to play it a lot at school when I was a kid.

    There are a couple. A pretty popular one on here is the Behr-Bonz cart. It has 127 games on it. I paid $46 shipped from the creator. You will need an empty shell to put it in. You also have the option of a floppy drive emulator. They are around $65 and they let you put floppy images on a sd card and run them on your Vic. I got mine over the pond in the UK from the tfw8b.com. They also have the penultimate cart which is a multicast with memory expansion built in. I suggest taking a look at their site.     My Apple II+ is missing a V and B keycap so I decided to be cheap a creative and pop off those keys off a broken Vic-20 I have and low and behold they fit. Kind of ghetto, but better than paying $15 a key

      That has been my only complaint about the Apple II keyboards is how easily the keys break off!
