The Commodores are still around, with King, Orange and Nicholas now. Keep up.

  2. I saw that a homebrew of this was put on the Denial forum back in 2013, however the link to it is now dead. I was wondering if anyone happened to have the .prg file for it and would be willing to share it on the forum for those who have a SD2IEC or some type of flash cart for the Vic-20. Or if you know where a copy of it is available I would be interested to know where. Thanks!
  3. Just got a Xonox Chuck Norris/Artillery Duel CIB today. I call that a win.

  4. I have a 2600 Jr and a 4 switch VCS, and I was wondering if there would be a reason why the 4 switch has less static on screen than the JR. Is it simply because of shielding? I wanted to know if there is any kind of fix besides a ferrite filter, as I already have one plugged in between my Atari and Coax tv tuner. Cheers!
  5. Got my $8 Atari up and working. Had both a faulty T.I.A. chip and RF modulator. Pretty happy with the outcome.

I forget which chip it needed but I had a 4 switcher that just needed a $6 chip from Best Electronics.

  6. Got an untested Timex Sinclair 1000 for giggles, turns out it only need 30 minutes of work to fix. Now its a tested and working Timex Sinclair 1000. I know.. I know... it's still a piece of junk lol.

Those were more popular over in the UK, I think. Though they were sold here. I remember seeing them in stores on display.

The computer industry had a bowel movement when Sinclair came to market.

I had one of those, it was a good cheap learning tool for BASIC programming. I also had a few games for it, like the official Frogger, which sucked out loud.

  7. I have to agree. Unless you can find it offline, i.e. Yard Sale, Flea Market, thrift store, you usually are facing premium prices, and its pretty ridiculous what faulty or untested items are being priced at. It all really comes down to what you are willing or able to pay. If the price is good for you go for it.
  8. no, I don't want to accidentally give that person money.
  9. Hey, at least he brought it down to what a working one would go for lol
  10. I ran into this gem when i was looking for cheap faulty systems. http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-ATARI-2600-HOME-VIDEO-COMPUTER-SYSTEM-BUNDLE-CONSOLE-JOYSTICKS-GAMES-/172428022884?hash=item282582d464:g:oHoAAOSwEzxYP1T- For those who don't wish to click the link, this is a 4 switch Atari VCS with 6 games, power and a/v adapters, and conjoined TI-99 joysticks. The console does not work, his professional opinion is the AC adapter is bad, and all the games and controllers are untested. It's US $150 + shipping (which doesn't seem to be flat rate) "buy it now" or make offer... You think $10 is too cheeky?
  11. I have a Vic-1525 and it's neat to have along side my Vic-20 (the New one I got to replace my old one RIP). However, it's very limited as to what it can do and the ribbon was proprietary and is almost impossible to replace, but using stamp ink can work on the ribbon to revitalize it. I enjoy it but it's not for everyone.
  12. Lucky to pick up a broken 4 switch Atari VCS for $8, but I must say some of the prices on eBay for as is and broken consoles is flabbergasting...

everything on ebay is crazy. full stop. YOu want mario/duck hunt? 10 dollars! That really says it all

      jd_1138

I'm amazed a co. hasn't bought the rights to Atari and came out with re-issues of the VCS with the cartridge slot and all -- and not some tiny plastic piece of crap with built in games that you buy for $29 at the dollar store.

  13. My Vic 20 bit the dust. If you need me, i'll be over in the corner wallowing

:( That sucks. The VIC-20's a cool little computer.

  14. Received Flappy and Wolfenstein VCS in the mail today. Guess I've got something to look forward to this weekend.

  15. I'm sure it is cyan. I was under the understanding that Vic-20s were designed to use the rf modulator unlike the C64 because it wasn't built into the Vic-20. I didn't think you could use a composite on it because of it.
  16. Its a new day and a new issue. When I turn my Vic-20 on the normal basic screen will appear for about 3 seconds and then it turns completely blue. I think it might be the rf modulator that is external to the machine, so I'm going to grab a New one and see if that fixes things, but if this is something any of you have dealt with please leave some info below, as always it is much appreciated.

      South Detroit = Windsor, Ontario

  19. I picked these up. I already have Star Trek: SOS for the Atari 2600 but I couldn't resist having one for my Vic-20. The cool thing is, I always thought the Klingon ships were Birds-of-Prey, but if you get close to the ships on the Vic-20 version they are K't'inga-class ships. The personal finance I find fascinating because it shows how the Wonder Computer of the 1980s was marketed as an actual computer.
  20. Anyone else think the derp faced dinosaurs on Bubble Bobble are hilarious?

    1. DuggerVideoGames

      DuggerVideoGames

Their names were Bub and Bob. The only thing missing was them wearing trucker hats and drinking Dr. Pepper.

  21. Picked these two up for my Vic-20. I never thought brushing teeth would be so fun.
  22. So this Congo Bongo for my vic-20 is pretty tough. it's like Qbert meets Donkey Kong meets Jungle Hunt meets Darks Souls...

    1. Skippy B. Coyote

      Skippy B. Coyote

I don't know about the Vic-20 version, but I've got the original arcade version of Congo Bongo on my multicade and it is insanely hard! Your Q*bert + Donkey Kong + Jungle Hunt + Dark Souls analogy seems pretty spot on.

  23. If my track record with "The Count" on the Vic-20 tells me anything, it definitely proves that I would never survive an encounter with Dracula... like ever
