  1. Great work! So are you entirely done the whole library and just posting a couple pages a week or are you actually writing these up as fast as you can each week so they can be uploaded?
  2. If it's not Desert Commander or Conflict, then it's probably not on NES.
  3. Yeah, but you gotta ask yourself: how many people "smell" inexpensive items anyway??? All kidding aside though, this yet another money grab aimed at driving out small/independent regular joe sellers who just want to sell some cheap trinket they found. And, ironically, this is what eBay was founded on. Now it's all powersellers and proffesional folk... yuk!
  4. If you're trying to play it on an original NES you're going to have trouble due to the lockout chip. He doesn't need to disable the lockout chip because whatever game he uses as a donor will already have a CIC.
  5. All you guys who hate Laser Blast so much: ever try using the game select switch? My question is why Crane/Activision would have shipped that cart with the default game being as bland as it was. It's akin to Atari shipping a game with the child "teddy bear" mode turned on at power up (which I assume they never did).
  6. 1-Kaboom! 2-H.E.R.O. 3-Pressure Cooker 4-Frostbite
  7. Why would a collector want to steer clear of cheap games? Since I'm not in this for the money, my ideal world would be a place where no classic cartridge is over a buck
  8. ...yeah, aside from the fact that he was carrying his Atlantis II around in his backpack and whipping it out every two minutes like it was the holy grail or something (not that there's anything wrong with that )
  9. Homer, earlier in this very thread you were knocking others for letting emotion override logic. Go re-read your own posts young man . If you were to turn down a chance at swapping your Atlantis II for a gold NWC then you, my friend, are an idiot (just saying... all in good fun of course)
  10. Exactly. In fact, I was going to type up a similar response but there were just so many things wrong with his post, and it was one in which he was speaking straight from the heart, so I just wasn't going to bother ripping into any of his "arguments." Homer, you seem to be in this for the money, so I'll let you in on a little secret: I don't know what "THE" big item will be in the videogame collecting world 30 years from now, but you can bet it'll be either Nintendo or Sony related. If I had to guess, I'd say a gold NWC has a much better chance of hitting 6 figures, for starters. It has the history of the contest behind it, and it's a Nintendo/Mario/Tetris item with a connection to the present to boot. If you're just in this for the money, sell off that Atlantis II stuff and get an NWC while they're still only 10k because in 10 years, that's going to be an absolute steal (meanwhile, your Atlantis II stuff is going to take *eons* to top 10k alone, if in fact it ever does).
  11. Homer, dude, I read the entirety of your "manifesto" up there and I gotta say: it was the highlight of my day . So many fabulous quotes!!! But if I had to choose just one, I'd say this is the most telling: Is that really what you want? Would you really prefer to have that little hunk of plastic to keep you warm on all of those long and lonely nights??? Something to think about...
  12. There are two different boxes: one to match each of the label versions. Check out the database at nintendoage.com for further details on that or any other NES release.
  13. The rarity list you are using is out of date and vastly inaccurate. Head over to Nintendoage.com to find the best current NES database on the internet.
  14. I don't know if this'll be any help, but if anyone is trying to track this McFadden guy down, here's some more info: website: http://mdterp4life.livejournal.com/ MSN Messenger: [email protected] Yahoo Messenger: mcfaddenvg AIM Address: JaunDixonFor3 And he lists his occupation as pharmacy technician in Greenacres, FL.
  15. It appears you took some Pac-Man sprites and hacked them into Sea Hunt (a terrible Froggo game). What's so great about that? Isn't it something that could be done in like half an hour? How on earth did it get a full-length review from Atari Times? That makes no sense at all. What am I missing here? (Unless this is all just one big joke, in which case it's flying pretty high over my head right now).
  16. I thinnk you're right. If you look at the worst of the NES licensed games versus the worst of the NES unlicensed games, you'll see that the difference is staggering. NOA may have let some bad games slip through with the seal, but some of those Color Dreams, Bunch, etc games are truly appalling. Without any controls in place, their would've been a *lot* more titles out there like Cheetahmen II. As great as the ol' VCS was, being so unregulated led to a much larger percentage of unplayable crap.
  17. Hey do you Americans still see "Tahiti Treat" in your corner store travels? I loved that stuff, but they stopped selling it up here (Canada) in the 80's.
  18. I don't see this posted anywhere here yet, but have you guys seen this find? proto box find I know the Lord of the Rings mock-up box has been catalogued, but what about Hulk and Octopussy?
  19. I had a TRS-80 mini-computer thing called the MC-10 when I was a kid and man did it suck. It came with this book where you would literally type out the command lines of the game into basic yourself before you could play them. You don't know what suckage is until you spend 2 hours typing out code (and looking for your numerous typos) only to find out after 30 seconds of play that the game sucks absolute balls. I still own the MC-10 my parents bought me too: complete with the box and its $199.99 price tag. Ouch!
  20. ^ TRS-80 (Trash 80) Color Computer. They were sold at Radio Shack back in the day.
  21. Courtesy of Nintendoage.com I think that's all of them.
  22. That's what I was afraid of, not to mention the fact that telling which version is which would've been my next question. Ah well, I guess I'll go ahead and start grabbing up cheap kickman carts until I end with a copy that's paddle compatible. Thanks for the help.
  23. Can anyone tell me if Kickman for the C64 is compatible with the Commodore paddle controllers? I searched Lemon64 and found the info to be conflicting. On the one hand, multiple "which games use paddles" threads mention Kickman, but the box scan on said site contradictorily says "Only works with joystick" right on the front of the box. Any Commodore experts out there to definitively settle this for me so that I know whether or not to go after the C64 port of one of my favourite arcade games? (if it supports paddles, I'm *definitely* going after it).
  24. ^ Is that book available in major chains like Chapters? I followed the link but it didn't have any info at all on how to go about obtaining it (unless I'm blind). Suffice it to say, my curiosity had been piqued.
