  1. I can't remember where I got this pic (so I can't give credit where it's due unfortunately) but I believe that all 3D SMS games are included:
  2. Try vimm.net. Click on "Manual Project" on the left menu. They have a little less than half of the NES library's manuals scanned.
  3. Try here: Screenshotarchive.com Not 100% complete, but they're getting there.
  4. Because it has the definitive home version of Joust (not counting MAME, ofcourse). ...just don't try and use the stock 7800 controllers with that glorious game.
  5. Can you qualify this statement? Define "collectable". I think you're confusing the word collectable with the word "obscure". Surely you are aware that the NES collecting market absolutely dwarfs the SMS and 7800 collecting market. And this present day collector's market, incidentally, bears an uncanny resemblance to the videogame market of the late 80's.
  6. You can peruse this topic (and add your own Top 10 list) to see what others think are the greatest VCS games: Top 100 2600 Games of All Time
  7. Why can't you just swim all the way back to the ladder on the far right-hand bottom corner of the map?
  8. Definitely HERO. If it didn't freeze, God knows how many hours I would play non-stop without even realizing it. I think maxing Kaboom would be an out-of-world experience. You have to be so focused for so long. I got a hair away from halfway once, but I could never get back (it took me 2.5 hours just to get that far).
  9. Do you mean Pitfall (which has a max of 114K) or Pitfall II (which has a max of 199K)? 903054[/snapback] I meant 199k for Pitfall II. I can do that one easily. The original Pitfall 1 at 114k I've never accomplished, and I think it would be hard as hell to do.
  10. Laser Blast sucks so bad to freeze. It took me 4.5 hours and I couldn't even leave the TV to go to the bathroom since you only get like 5 seconds between levels and only 6 men in reserve max. My hands were so cramped at a million points that I vowed to never play that game again. On a more fun note, it's also easy to freeze HERO with a little practice. For what it's worth, these are the Activision games that I've maxed out: -HERO -Keystone Kapers -Pitfall II (199k) -Dolphin (300k) -Laser Blast
  11. I got a Vectrex about 2 weeks ago. I was doing it more for the collector in me than as an actual gaming machine... until I tried Minestorm. Man I cannot tell you how astonished I was after seeing what a kick-ass game that is. I haven't yet tried any of the other games, but for me, a Vectrex is well worth it for the built-in game alone. 140,000 points and climbing!
  12. In world 6 there is a mushroom house with only one way in and one way out (you have to beat a tricky level to get to it). Anyway, this mushroom house always gives you a hammer suit. Also the very first mushroom house in world 6 gives you a 1/3rd chance of getting the hammer suit.
  13. I guess none of you guys have ever playe Days of Thunder. It's the worst, Jerry. The WORST! As for Wrecking Crew, it truly is a forgotten gem (then again all older games are long forgotten to the moronic masses).

    nes vs. 7800

Nintendo NES vs Atari 7800 The 7800 surprising holds its own in this battle.
  15. Congrats! My original NES from when I was 10 holds a special place in my collection too. In fact, even though they are a dime a dozen, I personally value My original toaster NES above all of the "OMG rare" games in my collection.
  16. Yes, it is an excellent game. But no, it is not impossible for North Americans to play the translated version on a real system. I got a translated Sweet Home a long time ago from here and so should you if you enjoy the game as much as I do.
  17. Your description sounds to me like Bionic Commando. But BC is not underrated at all.
  18. Man, there are like 150 underrated games on the NES. I wouldn't even know where to start. For this topic, I will randomly select... ...Bad News Baseball. It's a blast to play, the control and play mechanics are spot on, and all the umps are rabbits. How cool is that?
  19. I got the same thing but I am on a public University Computer so I initially assumed that the Uni was blocking me or something. I guess not. Maybe DP has been hacked.
  20. Kaboom HERO Frostbite Pressure Cooker Adventure ^I lost a weekend to those 5 games once...
  21. If that's not a mistake, and you actually do mean difficulty A, then you should be ecstatic. That is a fantastic score on the harder difficulty with those tiny buckets.
  22. As soon as you're on that screen, walk a step or two forward and then just press up repeatedly until you've rescued her. It's actually too easy when you know what to do. In later levels you have to do it very quickly so that the bat doesn't get you.
  23. I gotta admit, I really didn't like Mach Rider. However, I feel the same way as you do about many other black-box NES games. Kung Fu, Pro Wreslting, Balloon Fight, Wrecking Crew, Pinball, Wild Gunman, Gumshoe, Popeye, and of course Excitebike are ALL great games that put many of the later era NES games to shame.
  24. I don't dress like a complete bum when I go thrifting/hunting, but I definitely dress down and try to look I don't really know much about the videogames I'm interested in. I always have a five and a ten dollar bill because when a seller says $7 or $12, that's your clue right there that they want either $5 or $10.
