  1. I would very much like to try this on my jag cd the way i tried your ST ports. I do have virtual jaguar on my PC but i would rather play the test demo on a real jag. Could you provide a .ABB file the way you did with those ST games so i can burn a disk? Also how do I know what kind of jaguar I have? I dont know if its a K or M model??? Im really looking forward to testing this out! Id like to make some levels too

How much will the final game cost? Im buying it!!!!

  2. Hey man I tried some of these ports last night on burned cds and they worked great. Good job man! I know you probably dont want any requests but theres one game i would LOVE to play on my Jaguar, not sure if it saw a release on the ST but I had it on 7800. Can you port Food Fight? This would be awesome!

  3. Although i havent played Jeff Minters version of Robotron, I have to say it seems to be more in the style of Robotron 2084 Arcade game. Robotron 64 is far superior. (Well thats a matter of opinion, i actually like both, just perfer the N64 remake)

  4. I think Robotron 64 for the N64 could be ported over to the jaguar. Theres no reason why the Jaguar cant handle that game. If anybody has the development skills and a dev unit and would be willing to make the engine, i could rip all of the assets from the N64 game. Then said project could be presented to a publisher such as reboot or songbird. The only thing im not sure about is the copywrite of Robotron. Im thinking maybe this could still be done with permission from Netherrealm studios or WB games. Thoughts?

  5. I bought mine about a year ago from b&c and had same problem. Called them and they said the carts were fine. I remember swabbing it with q-tip and rubbing alcohol and inserting/re-inserting a few times and once I got it working haven't had a problem since.

Thanks man! I tried just that, and guess what? It works now! That is so weird. What on earth made you think to do that? I would have never thought to do that because they are NEW cartridges, not old dusty ones. lol. Oh well, whatever works! I was however disappointed to find out that the proto isn't much different from the commercial release. Although I haven't played past the first level. Thanks again man!

  6. I just bought the Defender 2k prototype cartridge on ebay and it has the yellow llama soft loading screen but after that it just goes black. Is there a number key code I have to input on the controller to get it going? I'm only asking because I figure if this is NORMAL for this cart, somebody probably knows how to get it started. All my other prototype cartridges I bought from the same guy (B&C MyAtari) and they all work great, only this one is getting a black screen. Is this normal? Or do I have a bad cart?

  7. No idea what to tell you about the Jag viewer, someone else may be able to chime in, but they did not have exclusive rights to distribute/host any of the roms. Last I checked, you can pretty much find all that stuff with a swift google search anyway just as you can with most any other game made for any system anymore it seems.

Yeah I searched high and low on google for those roms, I couldn't find them anywhere. I did find a defender 2000 prototype cartridge on ebay. I bought it already for $60, but none of that really helps me with porting Atari Karts over to PC. lol

If I could find the atari karts prototype rom it would really be helpful, but like I said this thing seems to be non existent now.

I'm going to try and see if I can get this Jag viewer to open up the roms in a differnt format then maybe I can view the tile sets. The on screen stuff such as players, hud items and things like that are easy for me to rip, it's things like the track maps and the backgrounds that I need to get. (And Pum King!)

I've already started the project and currently have Bentley Bear and Skylar in game and working! I hope I will be able to upload a video later this evening to show the progress. I ripped all of the Cybermorph ships animations to be used as a Kart and the effect is pretty convincing. Skylar's head in the rankings box also just feels right.

  8. Does anybody know any good graphics viewers for the Jaguar? I am currently trying to get the sprite and tile data from one of the Atari Karts tracks and I can't seem to load the atari karts .j64 rom file into the viewer I have. The name of the application I'm using is called Jag Viewer. It seems that it only loads rom images with the .rom file extension, so maybe I have to recompile the .j64 file I have into .rom format? I'm not sure about this one. I wonder if there are any other more generic rom viewers that may be compatible with jaguar roms? I seem to recall using one such program years ago that let me look at a wide variety of sprite formats. sega genesis, SNES and GBA are the ones I remember.

Another thing I was wondering about were these darn Jaguar Sector 2 prototype roms. Seems the site that was hosting them are now offline, and they had exclusive rights to host the roms and nobody else? How does that work? So now the site is down and if somebody wants to download the roms they are out of luck? That's insane. I would actually like to play the Cybermorph, Defender 2000 and Atari Karts prototype roms. I could use these for my project as Pum King apparently was available in the beta without having to unlock him. I'm also willing to bet these roms would run better in Virtual Jaguar then their commercial release counterparts. If this is true this would make porting a Jaguar game to PC much better. I would also just like to see them, just to see what's different about them first hand as opposed to watching a very unclear youtube video of somebody's CRX display running the games.

I guess I could search on ebay for a prototype cart, pay hundreds of dollars for said cart that may not work, rig up a skunk board and dismantle another atari jaguar...... (I only own one so I'd have to buy ANOTHER jaguar)

    yeah. I'm not doing that

WOW I went on a rant there! sorry guys I'm just really frustrated trying to view the tile data and all. But I think I do make some good points about the Jaguar Sector 2 stuff. If I'm wrong or not understanding something about that please let me know, maybe I'm misinformed about the whole thing!

  9. I'm going to go ahead and start with Atari Karts, since it will be the easiest. Yeah this is going to be easy. :) Don't worry I will pay attention to the details. I have already ripped the main characters, Now I have to unlock Pum King and the other special characters. I'm thinking Sylar in the War Griffin would make an awesome addition to the PC roster.....

  10. I have been playing a lot of Jaguar the last couple of days to give me inspiration for my Retropia project. I was actually thinking, i could probably make a port of Battlemorph for the PC and android. I know i could definitely do a PC port of Atari Karts. (I could do that game in 2 weeks, with extras)

Would anybody here be interested in me tackling either one of these ideas? If I did Atari Karts and Battlemorph, i would also want to try doing defender 2000. If anybody would like to see this, let me know!

  11. I just want to say I only just found out about the Coleco Chameleon after all the news and it really upset me. Having a name like Coleco endorse your project is a very awesome thing, but then to let it all slip away due to being dishonest just blows me away. Think of the opportunity here! I actually liked the idea of using Jaguar shells to make the console I thought that would be kind of cool and actually a nod to the past because Coleco always made copycat stuff Atari made back in the day and some times it came out better! But this was so sad. I guess I'm really not upset that he was dishonest and couldn't get a prototype out I'm more upset at the oppurtunity to do something great that he let slip away. IF they were able to actually put it out, it could have been a really nice addition to gaming history. I wish I could have been that guy with that same chance of endorsement from Coleco, I would have played my cards a little different and made it something special. Thats just my 2 cents.

    Hi folks!

This is my indie game I have been working on for the last couple of months now. The gameplay will be based strongly off Robotron 2084, however I will incorporate elements from other classic arcade games. Here's the story, RETROPIA is an inter dimensional space shooter in the game play style of Starfox 64 but with a graphics style reminiscent of 1980's science fiction. A race of inter dimensional beings have invaded our realm and it's up to you to purge our world of these invaders! You will have to meet them in the dimensional plane that separates our realm from theirs. This realm is known as Retropia. Using your state of the art Hawk-DX fighter you can travel in between dimensional planes and even drift from one position in space time to another at the push of a button! This game is being made for Windows PC and Android devices.

I joined the Atari Forums because as a former owner of the 2600, 7800, Jaguar and Lynx I have always been a fan of Atari and classic games. I also figured if I'm going to be making a retro style game, what better place to get feedback? I really want to mold this into something special! Click the video link below to see RETROPIA in action, and please feel free to give any feedback! Thanks in advance guys :)
