  1. Thanks! This is what i was looking for! Now i can play it on my phone too. This is great
  2. Cool! I appreciate that! I was inspired by Jeff Minter's Tempest 2000 and Defender 2000 when i came up with this.
  3. Actually i probably could pull this game off. Thats what I aim to do anyway. Right now its just a concept though, like you say. Ive done some pretty cool stuff for the PC. I made Diddys Kong Quest 3D, Sonic Xtreme Returns and of course my current project RETROPIA. I think theres a bit of a learning curve for programming for the jag but im confident its something i can handle. (I think) i may start with converting the open source version of Jungle Jag into Crazy Kong Country. An off brand version of DKC and a nod towards the old arcade rip off Crazy Kong. Ive already started doing graphics for that. (At work now so. Will show that later) but yeah i was thinking of doing that first to kind of get a feel for programming on the Jag and then port Robotron. Either way Im going to make something for the Jag. I really want to port my game RETROPIA, but im affraid that the Jag wont be able to handle it and it may be way to hard to even try (You can see more info on Retropia in the homebrew section.)
  4. I dont think so. I think Yopaz icestar is a totally different game that was on another console first.
  5. His Jag CD unit just starting acting up on him. The whole console was rocking side to side like an old washer or broken dryer. Spit his copy of primal rage right out in the air. Then the lid started moving up and down like the mouth gestures from pee wees play house and it said "why you no want Robotron? Jaguar want robotron NOW!" or maybe he just needs a happy meal from McDonald's
  6. Raptor Basic + is what im going to try to use for the project however i have a lot to learn. Im thinking of going with the classic overhead view and 3D rendered sprites of the N64 models and textures. Im also thinking of making the name special for the Jaguar. On PS1 the game was called Robotron X on N64 it was called Robotron 64. Here are the names im considering: Jagotron 64 Robotron 64 Bit Jagtron 64 Robotron X Jaguar Edition Jagtron. 64 is the one im leaning towards
  7. I was actually thinking 3D sprites anyway. But still those textures are very low detail the jag COULD handle itAlso SKYHAMMER is another game..... i do recall slowdown in that one though
  8. Battlemorph. Theres really not a lot of objects on screen the playfield (Robotron64) is very bland. Empty almost. The textures are also very dull and low detail., it has a shaded look to the whole game. The psychedelic background texture has also been done many times over on the jaguar so thats not an issue either. This is a port of a ps1 game mind you. We are not talking Banjo Tooie here its Robotron 64 for Christs sake
  9. I just burned a copy of Orion's collection and played Osmozys for the first time and OH MY GOD! This little game is my new thing! I love it I love it I love it! It's so addicting! It's more fun to play than Full circle Rocketeer, Downfall and Super DX combined! (and those are all awesome Reboot and CraynoJ) This guy Orion has some serious talent. When I first saw the weird camera controls being the pause and option button I was like "what? that's crazy" but soon after playing only minutes it really felt intuitive. This man is a genius. So I was wondering, I know there is a version with a black background and then the version I played with the sky boxes (so nice) Did he ever make any other versions of this game? I didn't care for DiamJag the 2D version. I mean is there a more complete or an alternate version of the one I have. I just can't get enough of this game!
  10. Yes this guide is VERY helpful and I agree with you 100% about this game. When James and Mike reviewed the game they called it crap, but they weren't even really trying to play it. They kept shouting out things like "this is just bad" "what are you supposed to do?" "Starfox was out when this came out, it was way better". Nonsense. The only version of Starfox available to the public at the time this game was released was the original SNES version and I'm sorry but Battle Morph is a FAR better game than that was. I could go on and on as to why but I will just name a few things, real voice NOT gibberish, real textured polygons not whatever that FX chip was producing, free roaming like you said, FMVs and just a ton of other things. I really love BM. I would like to re-make this in Unity for the PC actually. But like you said, there's a TON of content in the game. I think it's also worth mentioning the load times are practically non existent. But yeah I'm definitely going to use this guide to worm my way through the game because I never did beat it back in the day.
  11. I forgot all about Asteroids Hyper 64! Yes that would also be good for the Jaguar, i guess with Rebooteroids being made this year it totally slipped my mind there was another Asteroids out there that would be a good fit for the Jag. I always felt it was more like Blasteroids though. In any event, i will likely have to be the one to port these as nobody here seems to think they are worthy canidates. It's fine though, im trying to learn assembly now. I would also like to try and remake demon attack and food fight. I think those games were really fun and would love to replay them on the jag. I have some ideas on how to update the look of the existing food fight arcade sprites.
  12. The N64 version got great reviews, I don't know what you guys are talking about. You must be talking about Robotron X for the Playstation. It is not just a 3D version that brings nothing new to the table only for the sake of being 3D. Erasing it from history? are you serious? Here is what it brings to the table if you actually play it you will see, 200 new levels all with their own name. 2 boss battles, several bonus levels, several different power ups including a flamethrower, and a techno soundtrack unmatched by any other game. It is one of the best remakes of any kind out there. Don't take my word for it, go read ANY review for the game. Or even better, PLAY IT.
  13. I would very much like to try this on my jag cd the way i tried your ST ports. I do have virtual jaguar on my PC but i would rather play the test demo on a real jag. Could you provide a .ABB file the way you did with those ST games so i can burn a disk? Also how do I know what kind of jaguar I have? I dont know if its a K or M model??? Im really looking forward to testing this out! Id like to make some levels too How much will the final game cost? Im buying it!!!!
  14. Hey man I tried some of these ports last night on burned cds and they worked great. Good job man! I know you probably dont want any requests but theres one game i would LOVE to play on my Jaguar, not sure if it saw a release on the ST but I had it on 7800. Can you port Food Fight? This would be awesome!
  15. I am curious how hard would it be to flash this rom to a jaguar cartridge?
  16. Although i havent played Jeff Minters version of Robotron, I have to say it seems to be more in the style of Robotron 2084 Arcade game. Robotron 64 is far superior. (Well thats a matter of opinion, i actually like both, just perfer the N64 remake)
  17. I think Robotron 64 for the N64 could be ported over to the jaguar. Theres no reason why the Jaguar cant handle that game. If anybody has the development skills and a dev unit and would be willing to make the engine, i could rip all of the assets from the N64 game. Then said project could be presented to a publisher such as reboot or songbird. The only thing im not sure about is the copywrite of Robotron. Im thinking maybe this could still be done with permission from Netherrealm studios or WB games. Thoughts?
  18. Thanks man! I tried just that, and guess what? It works now! That is so weird. What on earth made you think to do that? I would have never thought to do that because they are NEW cartridges, not old dusty ones. lol. Oh well, whatever works! I was however disappointed to find out that the proto isn't much different from the commercial release. Although I haven't played past the first level. Thanks again man!
  19. I just bought the Defender 2k prototype cartridge on ebay and it has the yellow llama soft loading screen but after that it just goes black. Is there a number key code I have to input on the controller to get it going? I'm only asking because I figure if this is NORMAL for this cart, somebody probably knows how to get it started. All my other prototype cartridges I bought from the same guy (B&C MyAtari) and they all work great, only this one is getting a black screen. Is this normal? Or do I have a bad cart?
  20. Dwonload here http://gamejolt.com/games/retropia/125647
  21. Has anybody downloaded and tried the demo yet? I'm looking for feedback, my son says the difficulty level is too high. I think it's on par with how difficult games were back in the day. What are your thoughts?
  22. Alpha Demo Released!!!!! Download here http://gamejolt.com/games/retropia/125647 Controls: Arrow Keys = Move Ship Spacebar = Shoot Lasers V Key = Hyperspace/Vortex Maneuver N Key = Skip to next realm R Key = Restart demo (in game only) F4 = Exit/Restore Fullscreen Esc key = Quit game
  23. Yeah I searched high and low on google for those roms, I couldn't find them anywhere. I did find a defender 2000 prototype cartridge on ebay. I bought it already for $60, but none of that really helps me with porting Atari Karts over to PC. lol If I could find the atari karts prototype rom it would really be helpful, but like I said this thing seems to be non existent now. I'm going to try and see if I can get this Jag viewer to open up the roms in a differnt format then maybe I can view the tile sets. The on screen stuff such as players, hud items and things like that are easy for me to rip, it's things like the track maps and the backgrounds that I need to get. (And Pum King!) I've already started the project and currently have Bentley Bear and Skylar in game and working! I hope I will be able to upload a video later this evening to show the progress. I ripped all of the Cybermorph ships animations to be used as a Kart and the effect is pretty convincing. Skylar's head in the rankings box also just feels right.
