  1. Very cool thread, and Dropcheck I am always interested in Hardware for the A8, this is my primary interest, so I will be following this closely.

Moving my A8 (or one of them) to a ATX box has been a dream of mine for a while. use the transkey to use a STD keyboard and mouse, having something that can house expansions.. or even give me room to build platforms above the mb so that my U1mb could sit.. a card reader could be housed etc.. would be awesome. I would rather custom house my mod computer than hack the original cases.

  2.

    attachicon.gifT716.ZIP

This little program will read the SpartaDos directory from MyDos or any Dos 2.x version. The SpartaDos disk would be no more than 16mb and Disk based NOT SpartaDos ROM version.

    attachicon.gifBED7FFF.ATR

Attached also a test SpartaDos disk based Bed7fff.atr.

T716 program can be ran from any MyDos or Dos 2.x version and even from disk based SpartaDos .

Thanks rdea, I will give it a try, thats a start.. will t716 read all the densities if the drive can?? S/D/DD/ 40t, 80t??

  3. I can take screen shots.. but I go to the register page.. I put all the information in.

I think its rejecting my password.. but I am not sure.. and yes I have the english button set.

I have done this every couple of weeks.. I have sent emails from the link on the page..

If I use forgot username or forgot password ... it says it will send me an email.. it never does.

I have not gotten a response from the moderators.

I am at a loss as to why I cannot get on.. I could have an account for all I know.. but I cant get on.

  4. Hi, to whoever can help me on this.

I have been trying to get on the ABBUC site for 6 months now.

I have no idea what I am missing, but I cant seem to get on it, I register, and register, I can't read German, so if its giving me an error I dont know.

    Anyone?

  5. So playing with all of these.. the one thing I still have not found... and I think this would be an amazing piece of software if anyone wants to try..

A DOS that reads all formats... I would assume with loaded in modules you could do this.

I have some disks formated in Sparta.. these are not readable by any other dos so far.. Mydos reads many.. but not Dos3 not dos4 ..

How about a big UTILITY DOS - that could read - dont have to write.. but be able to read.. OR even identify the format..

So many times it NAKs or unknown format.. or error 173 .. etc..etc..

  6. Hey Jay, congrats on the install. I did mine and I have been playing with other machines the past while.

Once I get my floppies organized I am planning on moving tons of my games to the CF card and loading and playing them that way.. I find it very exciting.

I also had the same issues with the CPU board you did.. same thing.. pins the other way around. All worked out fine. I did not have the issues flashing that you have.

Only thing I can suggest with Flash's stuff.. make sure you are using the INCOGNITO version and not the U1M (Ultimate 1 meg) version.. they are different. Otherwise all the other advice seems good to me.

  7. @Bikerbob-

What is NEWDOS? Do you have a link? Google produced nothing that looked reasonable, except that an Antic article listed Dos Mod (forerunner of Top-Dos) as a "New Dos."

    Anyone-

How do you define a new dos? To me if someone hacks Dos 2.0 or 2.5, it is not really a different dos. It may be useful and have some nice features added, but it is still Dos 2.0 or 2.5. I would say that a dos has to be substantially different -- for instance MyDos works much like Dos 2.0, but it is a very different dos. I realize that leads to subjective "gray areas," but that is probably unavoidable.

    -Larry

I can upload the ATR.. it is a DOS 2 like dos.. not sure what the real difference is.. it says NEWDOS @ the top of the menu

    Never head of ScotchDOS

  8. Is there such a thing? or an attempt?

I have been going through all the disks in my purchases.

I have Found a DOS 3 - which does not seem to be compatible with ANYTHING else? is this an ATARI dos?

    2.0 2.0s 2.0s(David Young modified)

SO as you can see.. lots out there.

  9. Well known Y2K bug in tdline.com can be fixed, but most just use a patched version.

Time was I had the fix to put in, but since I didn't have that system, nor a way

to do it, time and windows has conspired to separate me from that prior knowledge

and I can't find it today. Sorry. Dammm you bill gates.

The problem didn't show up until the turn of the century. And most had a patched

version after that, but the bytes to change was what I had and lost. Only recently

SDX 4.46 I'm thinking, got it fixed for good finally.

Look hard enough and a patched version will present itself or a kind soul will

    post it yet again.

So the bug is in the tdline program?

Ahhh so if I used a TDLINE from a 4.47 on a disk when using my cart(s) then I would be fine? Otherwise I am looking at burning a new EPROM for the sd cart? .. naaa wont go there.

  10. Hey guys, today I am using my Rtime8 and my spartados 4.0 carts. I turn the TD ON so that I can check the time.. and I notice the right date.. the right time.. but the day is incorrect.

My RTIME is saying today is Saturday. OCT 20 2016 is a Saturday.. and its not.. its today Friday.

Im guessing.. somehow something was missed in the calendar? this cannot be fixed right?

  11. Cool thread guys! I have an 810 that I am using as my primary read/write drive at the moment because it will deal with media that the Indus GT and the XF551 will NAK at. Disks that I thought were garbage will format and read/write on the 810 - and then on the other drives.

I also am using a 800 (colleen) as my main machine with an incognito in it. So the 810 just looks right. Would all of this discussion lead to being able to make a new Happy 810?

  12. Quick update...

After our last trip to the States, my wife and I have decided to move back from Costa Rica so I've been dealing with getting arrangements made and boxing stuff up. The good news is that in a couple months my development schedule will no longer need to be planned around my trips back and forth and I can ship product as needed. We will be moving to Michigan so my wife can spend some time with family and especially her ailing mother.

Hi Bryan, not to sound too impatient.. but I am, is there an update? we are two months from when you said should be two months, till you can ship. Is there an update?

Between myself and another local fellow we have 10 machines we want to put this board into.

Is there a revision going on? or is this a logistics to get it to AA to retail?? Can we get a batch before that? or have someone else produce it? or supply it as a DIY?

  13. CRAP.. open to suggestions.. Not the drive Not the daughter card.. I have come down to something on the main board.

NOT the Floppy controller, not the ROM.. I swapped both of those no change.. I would assume it has nothing to do with the Z80.. and the only other socketed chip is the 8505 which I think is a D/A converter

    Again open to suggestions.

  14. Well not sure who if anyone is following this.. but its not the sensor. One of the nice things about having a good working drive spare is I can swap.

Tandon mechs in both worth in the good housing..

Now when I was trying to do the write diagnostic it was giving me a FDC error, no rec found... so I am thinking the 2797 FDC might be bad.. unfortunately I have to fully disassemble the entire drive to get it out..I will let you know the results.

  15. back on this project.

The 1050 was just dirty again.. some of these old disks I have must be pretty dirty.

The Indus GT - still looking for some help.

The drive track 0 cannot be detected. I think the sensor might be bad.. I am trying to do the adjustment.. says it cannot read it.

I dont have a scope.. having a bit of time trying to figure out how I am going to get this working.. I think I will swap the good drive mech into this one to determine that the issue is with the physical sensor.. if so.. can you still by a track 0 sensor for a tandon mech??

  16. Sorry for got to post, mine is fine and connecting ok now no problem.Going keep it the way it is,.I can take some shots of it if you like. It's really nicely made,I am happy with it.

Shame I can't use Ape,Ape is to much for me to buy,If I had the money I would though.

Dose anyone know if the full version of APE will work with this..?? We know Pro System dose, cos of Rays videos and I have tried it.

Spanner, not be a weenie on this.. but both APE and Pro System are part of the same copywritten software. It works fantastic! and if you like it, and you think its worth while you should register it on the AtariMax site (pay for it) or be happy with the trial version. There is RespeQT and AspeQT and you can use those free.

  17. If I recall, and I might be remembering wrong, the SIO plug on Lothareks site (http://lotharek.pl/product.php?pid=85) used to say that they needed trimming to make a good fit, as they were slightly too big as standard.

Now it just says you need to do some cutting. That may be the cause of them being too tight.

I could take some pictures,, the housing fits the sio just fine.. its the individual pins.. that you are inserting into the plug that fit TOO TIGHT.. the width just needs to be wide enough that no shoddy contact can happen with the male.. NOT so wide that they have to be jammed (forced) into their slots .. I will use a dremel and shave a little material off each pin next time.
