  1. It is a time for great food, merriment, and singing!

Who can take up his lies
    Sprinkle it with manure too
Cover it with no facts and threaten you
The cardo man, the cardo man
    Oh, the cardo man can
Because he's a troll who wished he were good
    Who can take Coleco
Wrap it up in a lie
Watch the brand burn and see it quickly die
The cardo man, the cardo man
    The cardo man can
Because he's a troll who wished he were good

  2. Dear homebrew publishers -

Please make whatever games you want to. Don't use the Coleco logos. Pretend they don't exist, because really, the Coleco we know and love doesn't exist.

Make lots of games. Make AWESOME games. And let's start having fun and just ignore the troll in the room and hope it goes away...

    What do you all say?

Now THAT is being reasonable. I can't speak for the Homebrewers, but I feel confident those are terms they can agree to!

  3. I'm no grader, nor have I ever had anything graded (I'm a player, not a collector). Nevertheless, I'll take a wild stab in the dark in assessing this.

There is obvious damage on the box/case for the game. I don't know if it's water damage or what, but it's evident in the images; even the images that show only the white part have visible damage. Looks like the cartridge and the instruction manual look okay. The damage on the box is so evident, however, that I'd probably grade it as a 3 on a scale of 1-10. Anything I say is pure speculation on this, however.

  4. I'm assuming that with all this, and us retracting the complaints, this involves you removing all of the associated threads on Atari age as well as your fan page, and us also removing our statement on our page? And any other associated post that either of us have control over? Is that your understanding?

Our most sacred point is your first point concerning the questionable material. Your stance is that you have no investment in these games and "as a journalist" you should enjoy freedom of press. In the sprit of compromise if we concede that point then you agree that should you become involved in any business relationship with a developer then u may not promote THAT developers games unless of course they are licensed. As you stated you are not involved with these developers so this should really not be much concern. Does this seem logical?

2-4 and even 5 I agree with. So those are not an issue.

You agree to cause (ikranaka ) to restore our wiki to its former state and then don't mess with it.

You agree that the legal description I have provide regarding action figures is sufficient to show that no "black major or red laser figures " to your knowledge are "bootlegs" or "illicit."

We invite you, but not obligate you to assist in a style guide.

NO. NO. NO. A THOUSAND TIMES, NO. How come the ONLY way to reach any so-called "agreement" is to erase any trace of you ever being an ass and your own wrongdoings? You're the clueless one here.

  5.

    Yes. This. Obviously.
Listen I apologize. Sometimes I forget that Cardillo isn't very good at picking up on subtle clues so I'll spell it out for you...
Cardillo has been sending emails and messages to certain significant members of the community. He has been referring to his "representative" in the emails he's been sending out trying to strong arm more people into his demands by making them think his "representative" is some sort of figurehead that could actually enforce any of his demands, like for example, legal council.
I'm not asking those people who received those message to step up as that isn't the issue here.
When I say "more than my representative" I mean that I'm not pretending.
Cardillo has been spreading some very interesting "stories" about me which I have well documented coming from him and his "representatives" email address and if it doesn't stop, he will be contacting my actual legal council not just my make-believe "representative."
I know Cardillo knows exactly what I'm talking about here, so don't play stupid Chris.
There is no physical threat here, this is me just being sick and tired of your game and it's going to end RIGHT NOW.
Let me also make one thing clear, Chris Cardillo...
I am a RetroGaming "fan." I came into this community because I love games, classic games, and mostly ColecoVision games.
I did not sign up to receive abuse from you, Chris Cardillo. I'm here as an enthusiast and I have no dog in any of this other than the fact that my fan page was unfairly attacked by Coleco.
I will NOT tolerate seeing emails and messages that come from your email account with your name attached with false information trying attempting to assassinate my character.
I will NOT tolerate erroneous claims on my fan page that I set up and spend my own money and time on and ask for nothing in return but the joy of playing games and being involved in this community.
If I wanted a face to face meeting, *I* would have set one up with *you.* I don't need your charity plane ticket or your condescending attitude when it comes to your explanations as to why you think you are in the right while at the same time damaging this community. Actually, I'm in NYC right now. If I wanted to meet with you I would have. But I prefer to have everything well documented so other fans just like me can see your true colors.
And with that, I don't have much more to say. You've been enough of a cancer to this community that I urge you to leave us alone, go produce your Coleco Expo and your Rainbow Brite mini arcade games and leave the rest of us to enjoy the classic ColecoVision because that's why we are all here.
You've lost us. Probably for good. You have broken what could have been a fantastic relationship with the community and it's your fault.
I just want to go back to playing games, collecting, and having fun. Who else is with me on that?

For he's a jolly good fellow

    He's very much unlike Cardillo

    Robb's a jolly good fellow

    Which nobody can deny!

AMEN! Now let's get back to the spirit of our community and enjoy playing our games and sharing our experiences. Let the troll starve.

Let's clarify this whole wife thing because i have seen that prior. 1) I did NOT have ed's number because he changed it. 2)i did not have Ed's Facebook, because he blocked me. 3) Ed has refers to his wife as his partner on numerous occasions and tells me that he needs to consult with her. 4) I have had conversations in the past with her regarding gaming... 5) AFTER getting Ed's number i said to him, i am sorry that i contacted your wife, but i did not have your info. --Just for the record.

For argument's sake, let's say you're telling the truth there. It doesn't excuse your other actions. Not picking a fight here, I'm just telling you how it is.

  7. Under this scenario, is the community and CVF page under agreement that games which feature lewd or suggesting content not to be created or promoted on CVF, as well as games that are unlicensed with recognizable games form a third party? Is that what everyone is saying? SOUL BLAZER --- awesome write up! We retract the violations with these terms to FB and you folks delete the several threads relating to this concern? That's the jist?

I cannot decide what the fan page does, as I'm just a member. I cannot speak for everybody, but I can give a summation on what I believe the gist of it is:

    • To my understanding, you have no legal say in what content can and cannot be developed for an old defunct system; it's not yours. They can make whatever they want for the Colecovision system, whether you like it or not.
    • You can ask the homebrew developers not to use the Colecovision name or logo on their box art and cartridges (if you indeed do own the trademark). If I remember correctly, they already plan not to use the logo/symbol from this point forward (it's up to you to speak with them, however).
    • No, you cannot ask the fan page to remove content. The fan page is not responsible for the development of the games. You're barking up the wrong tree there.

The reason this whole thing blew up in your face is because instead of first talking to the developers who made those games, you acted like a loose cannon and attacked the fan page! Instead of being an ass to the developers, the fan page, AND THE COMMUNITY - your potential market - as a whole, what you should have done was peacefully addressed the makers/publishers of the games first. A simple, "I request that you do not use the logo/symbol without our permission first" would have sufficed. But NO, you chose to be an ass and take immediate action and threats against everybody under the sun. The fact that you also went through improper channels - contacting a wife's personal FB page when you already have the developer's information - makes you look like an even bigger douchebag than you've already shown yourself to be.

I'm not the one making deals here. I'm just a player who loves the Colecovision and all the memories I had with it; I'm merely telling you what an ass you've been and how YOU screwed up the whole thing.

  8. So the simplest thing is to not use the logo and move on... Coleco gets no free advertising with homebrew games and can't claim trademark concerns.

Everybody else already has moved on and the people who made the games said they won't use the logo from this point forward. The person who hasn't moved on is Cardillo and Coleco Holdings because they refuse to retract their false claims against the fan page (which has wrongful trademark strikes against them).

  9. I offered a site down in an office environment, which he could walk away with a paper memorializing what we speak about. Clearly the offer was there to resolve his concerns. I am just asking the man to clarify what he meant by his statement that i would meet with someone 'more than his representative.' And what this person would meet with me about.

No. What you offered was a closed environment where nobody can ascertain what understandings/agreements you and he may or may not have, because it's off-the-record. As I already stated before, there is no reason for him to have any meeting with you because it's pretty straightforward: you made false claims against the fan page. All you have to do is retract the false claims against the fan page and take up your issues with the responsible parties. I cannot make it any clearer than that; the fact that your mind cannot comprehend something so simple is PATHETIC. For a so-called businessman, you're sorely lacking in simple comprehension. You also have a pathetic inability to admit when you're wrong about something; you merely just deflect as much as you can to avoid issues. Any sane employer would not want a person like that working for them.

  10. It says "MORE THAN" his rep ---

With how much bull you've been slinging throughout this topic and how you botched interactions with the community, I don't think you're qualified to interpret anything and be taken seriously. Also, quit deflecting and answer the real questions. Oh, that's right: you refuse to do so because you're an immature pissant who refuses to address the real issues.

  11. Perhaps we can work this out in a meeting.

Why don't i send you a plane ticket and you can fly up here and we can sit down across from each other and work through your concerns and our concerns. In the meeting we can discuss a plan moving forward.

Robb already spoke for himself in response to this, but I found your suggestion entirely laughable. WHAT CONCERNS? There are no so-called "concerns" to discuss or work through; it's pretty friggin' straightforward: you falsely accused the fan page of things they weren't involved in. Once again, you demonstrate that you only care about control; you think you can control everything by having a little secret closed-doors meeting where you and your posse can try to outnumber and intimidate people and create a he-said/he-said environment. BULL. If you care one iota about the community at all, then here's your chance to deal with it openly and retract those false claims against the fan page! I already have a good idea you won't do the right thing, however...

Furthermore, whatever concerns YOU have: take them up with the parties responsible.

  12. If said charity also belongs to Chris, RWB, or a partner, it would make perfect sense why said arrangement would be "awkward" to some.*

    * = denotes the preceding statement is pure speculation upon my part and has no basis in fact or concrete evidence. There, now I'm covered in the event of a libel suit...

^ Bingo. Like I said so many pages ago, they're up sh*t creek in regards to image and damage control. They never once gave a damn about the brand, its legacy, or doing the right thing. They're all about image and trying to squeeze money out of it.

  13. This Cardillo fella has blocked me on Twitter. All I did was speak the truth, defend Rob and Eduardo and put links to this thread. This guy needs to grow up a little and face the consequences of his actions. This is only the beginning unless he does a 180.

Hopefully you weren't surprised by his lack of character; it's been self-evident throughout this circus he created.

  14. Jumpman Junior (speed 1): 7,000 pts.

This game is not fun at all on speed 1. I wouldn't say the game is too fast for me, as my reactions/reflexes are just fine, thank you; however, I'm getting thoroughly annoyed when I try to make my jumps across the ladders only to find that Jumpman KEEPS GOING IN THAT DIRECTION and falling to his death even though I only pressed the direction ONCE. I think this game would have been better off being played on speed 3 or 4. I'm not even going to try to improve upon this score on this speed. Screw it.

Who says that Mark Thomann isn't apart of this mess, even Cardillo tossed him out on the road with his first posting here

Don't forget that Mark is one of his guests at the expo this summer. It would be awfully naive to think that Thomann doesn't know what's going on; it's very likely he's a whole part of this mess. All he cares about is his indoor gardening and trying to profit from it.

  16. Arcade control panel please. :) Maybe something similar to the NES Advantage with a numeric pad on it. I never owner the NES Advantage stick but did use it a few times and liked it.

I used to have the Super Action Controllers and they worked great! Mainly because the stick had a solid metal shaft and the ball top was just like an arcade controller. Plus the additional buttons came in handy for some games.

Here's a request not yet made... how about wireless controllers? Not sure how this could work on the Colecovision but I hate having cords all over the place. lol One can dream... :)

I personally hate the wireless controllers. Sick and tired of having to recharge them all the time and then one day, it dies immediately after recharging. I prefer something that if undamaged works forever.

  17. So looks like Cardillo, having been outed about his hypocrisy over selling illegal Black Major GI Joe figures on eBay, decided to quickly offload as many as he could at half-price before eBay took action against him. His eBay account no longer has any of these for sale with some definitely having been ended prematurely by him. A clear and absolute admission of guilt.

    Quoted for truth!

  18. Coleco's big issue is they NEED TO MAKE SOMETHING!!!

The flashback didn't set them up for future work.

So, if they are going to get Venture Capitalists involved ( I read their new parent company's website, you know, the one which bought them which is run by the same guy who runs them... sounds like an Anime company I knew of).

... well, make the Mini's. Get SOMETHING and put it in a Mini... I still think they need a Mini with several titles, but, they could make a Coleco Mini which takes downloadable content...

Not sure they think they can make money on that one.

Games companies don't often pop up over night. I'd re invent them as a modern game company and acquire older titles after I make something worthy of buying. Again, do SOMETHING.

The trademarks they claim they own had intent-to-use filed for them back in what... 2005? They did nothing on over 60% of the dormant brands they claimed and reportedly had no products and no manufacturing facilities for them. I'd say 12 years is more than ample time to make a serious run into the video game industry. They don't give a damn about the Colecovision or Coleco's legacy.

Let's break down this incompetent advertising copy, sentence by sentence :

"ColecoVision, one of the gaming giants of the 80s is back with the release of Sydney Hunter, a new video game on cartridge."
Do consoles release games? Sydney Hunter is not technically speaking, a new game, but it is a new port of a nearly completed game for the ColecoVision.
"The release will mark the first commercial release of a video game cartridge in 15 years."
There have been hundreds of cartridge games released in the past fifteen years, not even considering the games released by Nintendo for the Game Boy Advance, DS, 3DS and Switch. Will I see these cartridges for sale at Wal-Marts and Rite-Aids in the spaces formerly occupied by the ColecoVision Flashback?
Teaming up with Coleco is game developer Exidy which made popular the arcade smashes Venture and Mouse Trap both which were ported to the early ColecoVision.
The game developer known as Exidy was defunct by the 1990s. The developers who made or ported this game only have the license to use the name, there are no personnel in common. Also, what is the "early ColecoVision"? Are there some game breaking differences between early and late ColecoVisions? I think not.
"Sydney Hunter, Exidy's newest creation was recently voted "Best Game of the Year" on the online mega forum Atari Age."
It's "AtariAge", one word. Moreover, could someone point me to a poll where it was voted best game of the year? Which year? Which version? You can't really expect people to vote best game of the year for a game that has not been released yet.
"Gamers who wish to get their hands on a copy can do so by preordering the game which will debut at this years "Retro Gaming and Collectible's Expo hosted by Coleco."
The person who wrote this sentence failed his use of possessives and quotation marks test. The original sentence should use "year's" and "Collectibles", and is missing the closing quotation mark after Expo, unless the name of the convention is the "Retro Gaming and Collectible's Expo hosted by Coleco."

As I stated before: he writes like a third-grade dropout. Somehow, he thinks it's "bullying" to ridicule his ridiculous behavior and his writing. Speak of the devil... he's online right now reading this topic!

  20. Is it only me or are others also irked by Cardillo describing his selling of Sydney Hunter & The Sacred Tribe at his Crap Expo as the "Official Release" when the game will already have been sold beforehand by CollectorVision? Has he agreed with CollectorVision that his will be the "official" release? I seriously doubt it ! ! ! ! !

I was also annoyed with the presentation and wording of their site for the expo; they practically implied that the game is THEIRS. Coleco Holdings obviously doesn't believe in giving credit where credit is due. They also implied that it's a partnership; to my knowledge, there is no partnership between Coleco Holdings and CollectorVision. Everything Coleco Holdings has done thus far has been to feed he-who-must-not-be-named's ego.
