  1. Yes, it does have Sears on the paddles. Mine definitely doesn't have mfd for Sears on the bottom it has the standard heavy sixer sticker.
  2. Last year I got an extremely good deal on a Sears Video Arcade Heavy sixer. It is in really good condition, probably the best looking and best functioning Atari that I have ever owned. However it has some strange quirks to it that make me think it is either built from parts of multiple consoles or it is one that was serviced by Atari and they made some changes to it. Is it normal for a Sears heavy sixer to not have mfg for Sears and Roebuck on the sticker on the bottom of the Atari. Mine does not and I always thought that Sears heavy sixers said that it was made for Sears and Roebuck on the bottom. Another strange thing that I noticed was with the taped on paper inside the Atari. Im used to taking these apart and seeing that the date is printed on this paper. On my heavy sixer (this is the first heavy sixer that I have ever owned) it doesn't have a date but seems to have some kind of serial number printed. Is this an indication that at some point it was serviced by Atari? The last thing that I would like to know is in regards to the power cable. Does the Sears heavy sixer also include the grey power supply? mine did not come with one and I would like to eventually get all 1977 matching equipment for it. The only thing it came with that was supposed to come with it was a set of Sears paddle controllers which are the best ones I have ever had!
  3. H.E.R.O, Pressure Cooker, Missile Command, Centipede, Reactor, (If I still had it I would be playing SMURF quite a bit)
  4. I suppose from reading your story that I would be around your older brothers age. I started with an NES and grew up in the 16 bit era and went forward. I came from a family with not a lot of money and new games for me only happened around birthdays or christmas until I got my own job. That being said I was always able to get used games no problem through places like K-Mart, garage sales, and Goodwill because my family could afford to spend up to $10 on a game. One day I was able to convince my Grandma to get me my first Atari from Goodwill it ended up being a Sears Video Arcade II model (not the best one to start out with as it is a learning experience to operate that one if you dont have an owners manual and all the atari game manuals are geared towards the normal systems). Since then I had a HUGE collection then traded it all in for a ps3..........Not my brightest decision and I have since brought my collection back up. However while I was in college around 2009-2010 I had a friend who was going to bring in his Atari to the game room at The University of Akron, he had mentioned that he thought only he and I would be playing it since everyone was bringing current consoles all the time. I told him that I would bring some of my games and everyone would be playing it non stop..........Well I was right because we had a massive Warlords tournament going on with 15 people crowded around a big screen TV wanting to play, we had sega genesiss extension cables and enough good paddles to go around it was a blast! People old and young can have fun with the older consoles you just have to know what games are best to play. Nice to know I'm not the only "young guy" here.
  5. Well I ended up being the winning bidder on a supposedly used once and put away Atari 130XE complete in the box for less than $90..........now to get some good games besides H.E.R.O
  6. Ha, yeah that is my main problem I am a bit cheap and I think that the others would suit me just fine. I am just a little nostalgic for the XEGS I saw one complete in the box at a Goodwill when I was a kid but my Grandma didn't wanna spend $25 on it................... Man I wish I had my own money back then lol.
  7. I have had multiples of this console ever since I got my first one as a kid. Currently I have a 6 switch non heavy sixer as my main console with a 4 switch woody that needs to be serviced as a backup. I have had just about every version of this console made, my first one was the sears video arcade II system. the only versions I have never had are the original heavy sixer, and the original sears video arcade versions.
  8. Recently I found a copy of H.E.R.O for atari 8Bit computer and since it was only for $1 and I knew what game it was I decided to purchase it without owning an 8Bit machine. I have always wanted to purchase an old 8Bit computer and this just gave me more reason to. I have read the newbie topic pinned to the top of the post and did not find all of the information I was looking for. Again I do not own one of these machines but am interested in purchasing one. I am trying to decide between the 800XL, 65XE, or the XEGS I would prefer the XEGS because I would not have to buy an adapter to run composite cables, but since it seems to be much harder to purchase cheaply I most likely will not get one. I want whatever system I get to be compatable with the XE game cartridges. I was wondering if anyone could let me know if the 800XL, and the 65XE are compatible with the XEGS cartridges? also would an original 800 be worth my time to pick up?
