So I did a poll yesterday to determine which manual to do next and the winner was.......

    Keyboard Creations!

A couple pages in it dawned on me that it was April Fool's day and people suck :P

    Keyboard Creations!.pdf 9.63 MB · 3 downloads

Keyboard creations is no joke!  The good ol' O2 was rocking digital signage way before its time.  At Cisco Live this week they bragged about how their displays can be used for digital signage.  They've got nothing on my 40 year old Odyssey 2!  :)

  2. I'd love to get scans for all the manuals.  I can probably help out too, but my O2 gear is currently packed away.  I'm 99% sure I have manuals for these:

    • Attack of the Timelord!
    • Hockey! / Soccer!
    • I've Got Your Number!
    • Smithereens!

but it may be a few months before I can get them out and scanned.

How did you decide on 600 DPI for your scan resolution?  I looked into scanning manuals once a long time ago (and can no longer find my notes, grr), but if I remember right above a certain resolution your scan could end up picking up more noise than good info.  Therefore higher res is not always better.  I don't remember though if there is a single magic "best resolution", probably depends on quality of your scanner too.  I currently just have a cheap HP OfficeJet all-in-one device.  Works well enough for my needs, but the Smithsonian probably wouldn't use it... :)

Thanks for the replies. I’m going to look into programming this system and see if it’s something I could get into.

I'm actually surprised out how much homebrew attention my beloved O2 gets, but there haven't been a lot of homebrew arcade ports.  The only one I can think of off the top of my head that might qualify is Puzzle Piece Panic (Tetris).  If you want more info on programming the O2 I'd check out the Videopac forums here:

Just wanted to report I mailed a check to Joe, he promptly sent out my LTO flash which I received.  It was packed well, arrived quickly in perfect condition and I am beyond thrilled.  Just wanted to give @intvnut props for an excellent transaction and express my appreciation for his efforts.  I know these are a pain in the @$$ to make, but know this community is beyond grateful for providing us this amazing device.

I had the same experience, paid with check and my LTO Flash already arrived yesterday!  It will probably take me longer to find where I stored my Intv than it did to get the LTO Flash.  :)  Thanks @intvnut

Is there a users manual online somewhere? I received mine yet it's confusing me. Six switches and I don't know what they do?

Assuming you've got the files on the zip card ok you should be able to just plug it in, turn on your O2 and it loads the game selection menu.

So far I've only used the ROMs that are included in its zip file, I haven't tried loading my own ROMs yet.  It's not clear to me if I need to edit the ini file manually to make new ROMs playable or if that will get built automatically.

I'm right there with you. The stock O2 controller are actually quite good.

Another O2 controller fan here.  If you don't like a joystick with a large throw you're not going to like it, but I love them.  And they're durable too.  I've been using my original O2 for close to 40 years and its joysticks still work fine.  I've also bought a few other O2 systems over the years and all of their joysticks work great.  Compare this to at least a 50% failure rate of my C64 joysticks.

IMHO the biggest downside to the O2 joysticks is that (most) are hardwired.  Thank goodness they never break.  :)

Don't know how I missed this on videopac.nl.  I'll take one (no microSD card needed).  How do I pay?

Just got my cart today, it works great.  I'm using it with an old 4 GB uSD card that came installed in a NN3DS system.

    Hi everyone!

I still having components and boards to assembly more uSD carts if you are interested.

The price still being 45€ + shipping.

Don't know how I missed this on videopac.nl.  I'll take one (no microSD card needed).  How do I pay?

  9. Holy electrons batman!  There's a wealth of info in this post, thanks for sharing.  For a single power supply the Newark price comes out to $32 (shipped in the US with tax).

One more thing to note, I normally use the "Deflection (Dark)" theme (which you can select from the bottom left "Theme" drop down on any AtariAge page).  With the dark theme this thread is unreadable.  I haven't had this problem with any other posts.

Only occasionally, depending on market interest. This book is chock full of previously undocumented information, to the point that one really has to trust the authors they have done their research and not just extrapolating. It is written in a talkative language with some personal opinions weaved in so in case of an official translation, it could benefit from editing first. Given it is more than 500 pages, I'm not sure anyone is up to the task.

Thanks for the info.  Maybe I'll have to restart my Swedish language lessons so I can just read it myself.  :)

Many homebrew games are not on the C7061. Just a few of them were included. This is because many of the homebrew games are still being sold in the cartridge format.

I am happy to report that DEATH RACE ( Odyssey2 style ) is still available for sale on my web site:

I may be a little biased since my favorite retro games are two player games.  However if you have someone to play against I think Death Race is definitely worth picking up (it's good solo as well).

I went to check price and availability of the Tetris clone for the O2, only to get a notice from my computer that it's best not to visit.

That's because you're trying to go to the encrypted form of his page which he signed with a self-signed cert.  Which basically means you have to trust him since a trusted third party is NOT vouching for the authenticity of his certificate (as is the case for proper certificates). Other than being self-signed the cert looks ok to me, so I wouldn't have a concern manually accepting it.  Or you can use the non-encrypted form (no "S" at the end of "http") of his price page here:

    Monkeyshines!

If you have someone to play with/against, I really like Monkeyshines.  You can either play cooperatively or competitively.  I hadn't played another game like it until Towerfall came along (IMHO Towerfall is the spiritual successor to Monkeyshines).

If you have three people you can even get a third person in on the action by having them edit the screen with the keyboard.  However running the keyboard isn't nearly as much fun as using one of the joysticks...
