  1. :ponder: I found this listing on eBay today for an ESB cart. Check out the 'additional information':

    Description

So, you want to be a Jedi? If you think you're ready to harness the powers of The Force, then suit up and get ready for STAR WARS: The Empire Strikes Back. Loosely following the plot of the movie, you'll find yourself in four familiar environments Hoth, the asteroid field, Dagobah, and Cloud City as you fight back against the attacking Imperial Forces. Depending on the level, you'll be in control of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, or Chewbacca as you use your weapons and cunning to outsmart, outfight, and outshoot everything that comes your way. The Rebel Alliance is counting on you to defeat the Imperial Forces and bring the evil Darth Vader to his knees. Of course, even if you do defeat Vader, things may not pan out like you had planned.

  2. So then what's the best day to end an auction?

The general consensus seems to be Mid-late week endings, to the seller's benefit. I, myself, have noticed that Wednesdays and Fridays are the best days for good sale prices. Since these are paydays for a good many people, they have a little more cash in their pockets and are more adventurous about bidding on an item they want. I know that Thursdays (the day before my payday) find me scrutinizing purchases more, as I have little else in my pocket but jingle and lint. ;)

  3. This "buyers perspective" response does not fit the question, "When is the worst time to end an eBay auction?" Since only the seller controls the start (and end) times for non-BIN auctions, the question must be about the seller's perspective. Thus, the question really means, "When is the worst time for a seller to have an auction end, due to likelihood of the item not selling or receiving only low bids?"

If the question were intended to apply to bidders, it should be worded something like, "Which auction end days and times should frugal bidders avoid?"

Good Show! For paying attention, you get an A+. However, Jetset, we do encourage free thinking, and I appreciate the views from the other side of the fence.

  4. :ponder: Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that eBay has gotten rather boring over the last year? There used to be some exctement to it but, now, with all the scams, inconsistencies, shillers, and such, you just don't feel the excitement of the hunt anymore. Even where selling is concerned, you used to be able to peg the best end times for your auctions to ensure people would remember to come back at the crucial end time--you know what I mean; never at four in the morning, seldom on Sundays, and never during any Star Trek showings :P .

If anyone wants me, I'll be building my online store.

  5. :ponder: At the risk of sounding like an overstressed vinyl disc, I believe the allure of these games were the actual gameplay, not the graphics. Granted, I loved the heck out of the Activision games because they took a greater advantage of the system's abilities, but I still played Pac-Man to death regardless of the crappy port. All of the games you see today for the latest generations of game systems are graphics-intensive, giving you as close to 'real life' as you can get for a video game. Being able to see the scantily-clad heroine jiggle in her skin-tight outfit or swimsuit may be nice :P , but are you playing it for the game, or just to watch the characters?

I enjoy 'Blood Rayne' (the game, not the movie  ), the 'Doom' series, the Star Trek SOS, and anything else with large explosions, but I always come back to Gyruss, Pitfall, and Circus Atari, among others. For its time, ATARI was a wonderful piece of futuristic technology, defining an era and a large chunk of my childhood.

. . . That, and, I really enjoyed watching my father marvel over the fact that there were no moving parts

  6. Though my first system was a telegames light sixer, the centerpiece of my collection is a Sunnyvale

I have a 7800 in our room with a wye cable for quick use of the paddles (my wife has an unnatural addiction to Super Breakout)

I admitted to having a Jag in the loosest sense, as I have only played AVP and Pitfall on it. When the gameroom is fully constructed, it will have a place of honor :P

  7. I do not think people in our industry will be buying this, I think people in other industries are going to be going after this sort of thing.

You make it sound like Atari collecting is some sort of business venture :ponder:

In the end, isn't it? The fact that we do this for enjoyment doesn't take away from the fact that we're all engaging in the 'buy/sell/trade' game. Granted, we aren't all so deluded as to try to sell some of our stash for obscene prices. :P

Uh ..... No! Not all of us. For some of us Atari is a hobby, not a profit making undertaking, which is how you would classify industry.

Point taken. For me, it's just an avenue for affording more atari stuff :D

  9. This cheat kicks ass since there is NO WAY you could complete the game with just 3 guys, no WAY..

You mean there's no way you could do that.

    Because I did it! :P

    I, as well :D

  10. This is not my usual bag, but I picked these up for a good price from one of my usual outlets.

These are soft, protective MP3 cases with built-in speakers that let you listen with no ear buds. I use one, myself, and they're great for the gym or game room (assuming you don't have a megabuck sound system installed :P

And, no, the MP3 player is NOT included

    $12.00 shipped, I think, within the U.S.

  11. This whole thing reminds me of an exchange I had with a Circuit City employee when I was on the prowl for a TV connector switch for my Jag. Of course, I could have gotten one easily from eBay, but I wanted to play now, dangit! :D

Suffice to say, it's a little hard for someone born in the Playstation era to grasp the fact that sound and video were both carried by just a single cable.

:ponder: Hey! I think I just felt a new liver spot pop out. *ugh*
