Yay! Live medical experiments! The WHO hasn't confirmed that it's effective against Covid-19 and there have been some rather mixed signals from the research establishment. Some experts have even declared it "fake news". Still, if people want to try it ... ?‍♂️

I don't have any other handheld to compare it against but the speakers are tiny and basically 'tinny" sounding as you would expect.

But it does play the early Sega console games very well.

  7. Videogame Vaporware has always made my mild Tourette's Syndrome flare up wildly since my teenage years.

  8. Just discovered the Sega Genesis Sonic 1 with Spin Dash hack and I love it.

    1. SmittyB

      SmittyB

Sonic Jam on the Saturn rather nicely has the option for a spin-dash in Sonic 1 as well because it's a port rather than emulation, and as far as I can tell they built the Sonic 2 part first and then modified it for Sonic 1.

  9. I don't always use Internet Explorer... but when I do, it's to download a different browser.

I don't always use Chrome browser, but when I do it's, oh, like 99.99999999% of the time.  I guess MS Edge wasn't too bad, and they're changing it over to being based on Chromium open source browser.

    3. Tickled_Pink

      Tickled_Pink

Pffft! Dinosaur! I stopped using IE as soon as Microsoft dropped it from Windows 10. Been using Edge ever since ... for downloading other browsers. Get with the times.

  13. Video Game Critic's review of Philips CD-i console durability: most older cd players are susceptilble to read problems after heavy use, but fortunately, CD-i systems are not prone to heavy use.

  16. Steve Hanawa, creator of Sega's Turbo arcade game said that the game was so difficult to design that he was hospitalized for a month following its completion due to stress, exhaustion and a collapsed lung – now that’s commitment!

Oh sure ... I could name plenty of things that smell just as stale. :P

  18. Finally decided to dig up my 6-switch Atari 2600 with Compro Videoplexer - was a little perplexed at setting it up but got it right the 2nd time around - how technology has changed...

I don't understand how people have trouble connecting old systems to new TVs, unless the system is using a non-standard System-to-TV plug that isn't the RCA-style RF jack. You connect the jack into one of these: https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=42 and then you just turn the TV to channel 3. This still works on 'modern' TVs.

AS for the video plexer, isn't it just 'plug cart cable into cartridge slot, power videoplexer, and press but...

    2. RockyRaccoon

      RockyRaccoon

....and press the button on the cart you loaded?

    3. chuckwalla

I always forget that the Videoplexer plugs into the Atari console via cartridge slot and power supply connector and the 2600 power supply plugs into the Videoplexer. Cool accessory item.

Future clearance/sale item as I see it. This is a bad answer to a question almost no one asks.

  20. With a market saturated in SNES consoles, here's an SNES Mini clone with a bunch of built-in games -https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Super-Nintendo-Entertainment-System-SNES-third-party-compatible-console-AP64/222734375600?hash=item33dc00dab0:g:XOAAAOSwhrRajL7y

I actually don't mean to harsh on it BTW, I'm kind of a sucker for things like this,...Lacking S-Video though sucks...Even my Retro Duo has that!

    3. carlsson

      carlsson

I wish those clone manufacturers in China could come up with something new, fill a hole on the market. Obviously I'm not expecting proper licensing of stuff, just that a $70 system that does something nobody else does in commercial form, would be far more interesting than yet another low-end SNES clone.

    4. GoldLeader

      GoldLeader

I wonder if some of those people are still thinking it's more than just the box. If I were that seller I would have put "No Console, Just The Box" just to be sure.
