  1. Sony Trinitron's and Panasonic's are top notch. Also, if you happen to come across a Magnavox 13" (Model 14MS2331/17) in good condition then snatch it up - they have pictures atleast as good as the others with even better sound. I lucked out years ago when Circuit City was closing up and got the Magnavox for cheap. Here's my Sony and Magnavox.....
  2. Commodore 64 Choplifter using VICE2.4 and an inexpensive PC to TV adapter. Saved 62 hostages.
  3. Beating the Qualifying Score on Ensign Level in Starmaster - never got a patch though.
  4. First game played: Telstar Ranger. Was really cool playing a game on the TV. First game owned was Donkey Kong for the Atari 2600 which was part of the slightly used Atari 2600 bundle my parents bought for me in 1983.
  5. ColecoVision Pac Man Level 1 - 41,010
  6. 117,900 Skill Level 2 Zaxxon Super Game ROM played on AtariMax ColecoVision cart in an Adam console.

What does 43 year old pie crust taste like? Marie Callender's.

Sounds like an episode of Friends. LOL!

  7. Even though i've got a Sega Nomad mint in box and rarely use it i'm considering buying a refurbished Nomad with the upgraded TFT screen from the guy on ebay after New Year's. Nothing like classic video game nostalgia at Christmas time!
  8. Not sure how I remember this but it was the Commodore 64 Super Expander. Thrilling times back in those early 1980's with new add-on's and peripherals for our little computers coming out regularly.
  9. Atari 2600 Venture B:B setting 11,800 I've loved this game since I was 14(or so).
  10. When you want a low-stress game to play, Atari 2600 Berzerk, Defender, and Asteroids on the easy/children's setting always come to mind. It's actually nice to have that option considering the difficulty level of many of the 16-bit titles that become frustrating quickly. It always pissed me off that the 16-bit era games largely lack an "Easy" setting - or if it does it sure ain't EASY!
  11. Ice Hockey, Enduro, and Activision Tennis.
  12. Rock N Wrestle / Bop N Wrestle on the C64 will always stand out for me. Playing this with my buddies was hilarious. Characters that resembled (?) Ric Flair and Hillbilly Jim, etc. and the choppy animations of the moves (when they worked) added to the fun.
  13. Steve Hanawa, creator of Sega's Turbo arcade game said that the game was so difficult to design that he was hospitalized for a month following its completion due to stress, exhaustion and a collapsed lung – now that’s commitment!

Thank You Steve! I loved that game as a kid! Played the heck out of the home version for the ColecoVision too!

In fact I just played the arcade version again (after probably a good 30 years) a few months back at Classic Gaming Expo. GREAT game!!! :)

Someone at Rockstar Games just said, "Wow, making video games was so much easier back then."

  14. I'm mostly with the old school crowd that will always love the arcade and 8-bit shooters the most but do appreciate several 16-bit shooters too. Gyruss Defender Phoenix Galaga Galaxian River Raid Space Invaders Demon Attack Gorf MUSHA Space Megaforce Gradius III
  15. ColecoVision Frogger Slow setting: 24,010
  16. Sega Genesis NHL '94. It's not "NHL" but Atari 2600 Ice Hockey will always be a fun little 'hockey' game.
  17. Excellent, thanks for the images. I loved Babbage's and the Electronic Boutique and visiting those stores was the highlight on every trip to the Malls here on Long Island in the early 1990's. Was in total awe looking at all of those great 16-bit games even though they were pricey. I didn't have much money back then as I had just started working but managed to buy the Sega Genesis Model 1 with Sonic The Hedgehog that I still have today and greatly treasure it. Only Toy's 'R' Us (RIP) in the early 1980's surpassed those memories when the Atari 2600, ColecoVision, Commodore and Atari computers and software were displayed on the shelves. It was like a piece of heaven on earth.
  18. There's nothing like the nostalgic smell of late 1970's Hong Kong video game plastic....

Oh sure ... I could name plenty of things that smell just as stale. :P

  19. Adam Computer Donkey Kong Level 1 - 182,000
  20. I may be interested in this and having SD card input and SGM compatibility is very nice.
  21. Kicked butt on ColecoVision Time Pilot Skill Level 3 87,300
  22. Setup my Atari 2600 6-switcher with Videoplexer to play some Asteroids (Game 7), Missile Command, and Defender.
  23. They always pissed me off because I was a much bigger fan of the Genesis and they took cheap shots at the Genny all the time.
