  1. For me, it boils down to this: the more technology advances, the more I appreciate the simpler, basic games.
  2. Early 90's video game mags had that game advertised like crazy (EGM, Game Pro) - and who remembers the rumors of the much anticipated SNES "CD".
  3. Finally decided to dig up my 6-switch Atari 2600 with Compro Videoplexer - was a little perplexed at setting it up but got it right the 2nd time around - how technology has changed...

I don't understand how people have trouble connecting old systems to new TVs, unless the system is using a non-standard System-to-TV plug that isn't the RCA-style RF jack. You connect the jack into one of these: https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=42 and then you just turn the TV to channel 3. This still works on 'modern' TVs.

AS for the video plexer, isn't it just 'plug cart cable into cartridge slot, power videoplexer, and press but...

I always forget that the Videoplexer plugs into the Atari console via cartridge slot and power supply connector and the 2600 power supply plugs into the Videoplexer. Cool accessory item.

Future clearance/sale item as I see it. This is a bad answer to a question almost no one asks.

  10. With a market saturated in SNES consoles, here's an SNES Mini clone with a bunch of built-in games -https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Super-Nintendo-Entertainment-System-SNES-third-party-compatible-console-AP64/222734375600?hash=item33dc00dab0:g:XOAAAOSwhrRajL7y

I actually don't mean to harsh on it BTW, I'm kind of a sucker for things like this,...Lacking S-Video though sucks...Even my Retro Duo has that!

I wish those clone manufacturers in China could come up with something new, fill a hole on the market. Obviously I'm not expecting proper licensing of stuff, just that a $70 system that does something nobody else does in commercial form, would be far more interesting than yet another low-end SNES clone.

I just looked...Hmmm I don't think I have the box for mine. *sigh* haha...

I wonder if some of those people are still thinking it's more than just the box. If I were that seller I would have put "No Console, Just The Box" just to be sure.

  12. Oh yea. In High School I created all of my reports and term papers using C64 Paperclip with a Star Gemini 10X Dot Matrix printer. Seems like a lifetime ago.
  13. My first LED handheld was Electronic Quarterback and I played the heck out that thing. I would play it in the dark when I went to bed until my Mom yelled at me and threatened to take it away. I got Mattel Football II not long after and Space Alert too. In Elementary school we swapped each others' games and it was the coolest thing at the time. I used to have most of these units collected with box & manual but sold it years ago - I just keep my favorites loose.....
  14. Exactly, the Sega Genesis controller works great for many games.
  15. Playing the Rickster on Spatterhouse 2

  16. Thanks for the heads up. I've come across the name long ago but never investigated exactly what the game was. I just downloaded it (https://www.emuparadise.me/Super_Nintendo_Entertainment_System_(SNES)_ROMs/Jaki_Crush_(Japan)/34108) and played it using the SuperEverdrive. Nice to have another pinball game for the SNES. Good stuff.
  17. Thanks for sharing the experience. I've got two Football II's and one of them has no sound. I managed to open one of these games up many years ago just to check out the components after attaching a new battery connector (see pic) but finding a speaker for these guys would take some research. When i'm motivated enough i'll have to check that out.
  18. And in the corner to my right.....Afa...Sika..........the WILD SAMOANS!!!!!!

  19. With the exception of my all-time favorite games (that I still have complete in box) my Genesis and SNES collections have been sold and replaced with EverDrives. So I now have space for other stuff - and that space is going fast!

I use google and search the most gory, disgusting, obscene things I can think of, then type " You think you are watching me, no, I'm watching YOU." into the search box and hit send.

  21. From personal experience in those early-mid 80's: 1) quality control of games hit an all-time low for the consoles. 2) video game systems were being replaced by computers (all my friends got Apples, C64's, Atari's, TI's). 3) my parents sold my 2600 and I got the C64 and it was a little piece of heaven to be able to copy disk after disk full of games and utilities.
  22. I've bought a few of these repro boxes over the years. Not bad for a few $ each. Nothing to hold the manuals in place but doable.
