The book isn't very in-depth. It's mostly just pictures of cabinets with estimated values of the cabinets.

Oh, so it's more of a price guide. Well, then I guess it will contain a little more information :)

  2. Bill Kurtz did a similar book called the Encyclopedia Of Arcade Video Games. But what you have so far seems to go more in-depth and I would be interested in buying the finished product if you release a hard copy. Do you plan on doing any interviews with any of the programmers from BITD?

I do plan to release it in print through lulu. The book will not be as in-dept or as professionally as the "Encyclopedia Of Arcade Video Games" book (though, I have not seen the BIll Kurtz book. This is just a guess). I will not do any interview myself. Everything in this PDF/book; pictures, text, will be taken from other places on the internet. So I am sorry to say, it's just a collection of copy/paste from the net... Just like every other PDFs I made.

Mame screen captures? There are also existing Marque and Screenshot sets for Mame online.

You can edit your OP with the new link if its not expired yet. Ask the OP for help if the OP is expired already.

Unfortunately Discrete logic can not be emulated (as far as I know). It can only be remade to look like the original arcade version. The first five years of arcade machines does mostly include discrete logic boards. I will include Marque if the arcade feature it :)

  4. Very nice! However, the link does not work. The blue background is great, a subtle color so the arcade cabinets stand out. I like the white box text as a header followed by yellow box text for description. The second design better for not being as cramped. Suggest expanding each cabinet description to at least a full paragraph or two. Maybe one cabinet per page to allow the additional text as well as in game screenshot and marque of each game?

Thank you for the suggestions. I will take it into consideration, though I have a hard time finding information and screenshots/video's on these early arcade games.

  5. Hello. After a long siesta I started on a new PDF/book (other PDFs: https://daddarulekonge.itch.io/)on Arcade machines. I normally use a standard template on my PDFs, but wanted to make something more eye pleasing. But I have a hard time deciding how to set it up. I have a hard time making space on the pages, but it would make it more pleasing on the eyes. If anyone would give some pointers on what they find most pleasing I would really appreciate it :) The two first pictures are on my first design, the next two are on a more space friendly design. Also, does the background colors make any sense?

  6. I'm guessing you're staying with actual published (on a cart) homebrew games......... if so here's some missing titles to get started with:

2014 AtariAge Holiday Cart: Stay Frosty 2: Stay Frostier

    2048 2600 (Good Deal Games)

    3D Ghost Attack

    3D Genesis

    3D Havoc

    A Slow Year

A.C.I.D. 2: Your Face is Goo

    A.I. Project

    Acid Drop

    Alien Greed (#1 thru #4)

    Army of Darkness

    Asses of Fire

    ature

    Blinky Goes Up

    Bomb on Pixel City

    Brik

    Candy Catcher

    CGE Adventures

    Chase It!

    Checked Inn

    Chetiry

    Chunkout 2600

    Dead of Knight

    Desert Bus 2600

    Dungeon

    Will include :) thanks

Also, if anyone has any input on the AtariAge label guide that is missing (I need mostly text) then that would be greatly appreciated. And is there any extra hardware you would like to see, like the AtariVox+?

  7. are you still working on the homebrew section? There's many titles missing..........

I know a lot is missing on the homebrew side, but I felt I had to stop at some point, so I used the rarity guide on AtariAge as a goal and only included the games they had listed. If you know some homebrew games that need to be included then I can include them :)

  8. I think something like "Pat and Ed were inspired by Demon Attack" would be a good middle ground. Could be we all remember it differently.

    The rewrite:

    Space Cavern

    Developer Apollo

    Publisher Apollo

    Release date 1982

    Genre Action

    Mode 1-2 Players

Company founder Pat Roper had flown programmer Ed Salvo to a Consumer Electronics Show to show him the Imagic video game Demon Attack. Impressed with Imagic’s game, Roper told developer Dan Oliver he wanted a game in similar fashion. Oliver, having learned MOS Technology 6502 just a few weeks previous, made his first Apollo game out of inspiration from Demon Attack.

  9. For Space Cavern it says "He told developer Dan Oliver what he wanted in the game without disclosing his inspiration" which is a version I've read before and I don't think is correct. Pat and/or Ed gave me a manual or marketing material for Demon Attack, said it was a great game (impressed with the graphics), and I was to make one like it. They also said they were trying to get a copy from a distributor. That "meeting" took 30-60 seconds.

Several days later they got a copy and let me look at Demon Attack in a room at Apollo. They wouldn't let me dump the cart or keep a copy so they were concerned about legal issues. Having learned 6502 just a few weeks previous, never having seen an Atari before starting at Apollo like a week before I got the Demon Attack assignment, no 2600 manual, I had absolutely no idea how Demon Attack was done. It was and still is a really impressive game. I could barely get 2 line resolution.

To Apollo's credit they didn't really want Demon Attack ripped off. No one ever mentioned Demon Attack after development of Space Cavern started, no one suggested any changes to make it more like Demon Attack. It was purely used as "inspiration".

It would be nice if the encyclopedia had the human developer's name instead or in addition to the corporate name. Might be just me but that info is more useful. That David Crane did a specific game is useful. What company he happen to be at the time I don't find as useful or interesting. It was a time when a single person normally created the entire game and maybe a reason why Atari remains interesting.

On Space Cavern I used the text form wikipedia. I will rewrite the text :)

I see your point on using the developers name. I will probably be more interesting. I will try to get something done.

  10. update on the PDF:https://daddarulekonge.itch.io/apro

It's nice but I wish there was more to the games in each entry...

I know it`s a little bare bone. Some games I can find pages of information on but some games it`s hard to just find a sentence on. I think this PDF is more like a book people can "flip" though to find a little information on each game. So they can decide what to buy or play next.

  11. Wow...I'm really digging this one . Love the layout and content that your providing in this PDF. Lots of work for sure -- Thank you.

    Here's my input:

I would include Juno First, Space Rocks and Star Castle Arcade as part of the Notable Homebrews.

Would be nice to make mention of the AtariVox, for any of the homebrews that support it.

For reference, here's a link to the supported games: https://atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1045

Each of the supported games, has an Atarivox Support/Enhanced section: (i.e. AStar: https://www.atariage.com/store/index.php?l=product_detail&p=821)

    Thanks again.

Thanks. I will include the atarivox. Also I will include every homebrew listed on the AtariAge rarity list :)

  12. I just tried that update link but I'm getting a 404 error (not found). :(

    Try now.

Sorry I don't have any hate to offer. I really like it so far! Are the small circled numbers some type of rating?

Yes, it is scores from gamefaq. Some users has already voiced their dismay over this score, as it`s often biased and stupid, but I need something that has continuity.

  13. A few questions i`m hoping some can answer:

Did the developers Zellers only produce unlicensed 2600 games?

Is the PAL release Dancing Plate (NTSC release: Dishaster) an unlicensed game?

And is this every PAL exclusive list of games:

    Acid Drop

    Bobby Geht Heim

    Fatal Run
    Ghostbusters II

    My Golf

    Pick n Pile

    Wing War

    Am I missing anyone?

  14. Been pushing my PDFs on both the Jaguar and 7800 boards. This time i`m doing a PDF on the 2600. As the library is huge compared to the Jaguar and 7800, i`m having a bit of a problem on the legality of the library. I`m using AtariAge rarity list for sorting the games, and I don`t know what games are considered an official release, etc. If someone would like to see were I am on PDF I included it as a attachment to this post. And if someone has a official list of games, then that would be really helpful.

  15.

Just a thought, but maybe you could just do a 2600 PDF and a seperate Homebrew PDF that could include some 2600, 5200 and 7800 homebrews?

Many thanks for the 7800 PDF. I really enjoyed it.

That`s a very good idea. I will think about it.
