Hello, what cable would I need to convert an original Atari joystick to usb ???

Joystick because I don't have the dexterity in my hands like I used to. . . . . . .

More in the winter because it is do darn cold outside so I use my Altirra and my Nintendo Wii and have fun all winter, I watch my Pittsburgh Penguins play as well. . . . . . .

I used to play a game at my local arcade many many many years ago and all I remember is at the end of the level you heard the word "lucky" for every ship you hit.

 

If you got 10 ships you would hear "lucky" 10 times at the end of the level.

8K 400. Even after a 48K upgrade ($190 in 1982 dollars!!!!!) I still couldnt' wait to get an 800 and have the flagship model.....until the 1200XL pissed on that dream, shortly after paying for an 800.

I had and still have an Atari 800 and my best friend had and still has an Atari 1200xl and he needed to use a program called FIXXL to run some games and programs so imho the Atari 800 is the best Atari computer ever. . . . . . .

my Atari 800xl to work somehow because I have a 40' screen and it would

 

be awesome to see Atari games and DOS Systems and various programs I

 

typed in on that big screen. . . . . . .

 

 

The colors on the leads may not mach up to the function you would

think when plugged into an Atari. I'm not saying they aren't correct,

and there isn't something else going on, but it could be that

simple.

Yep could be that simple will try. . . . . . .

L/R audio will be on the white/red connectors, and composite

video on the yellow one.

And you also don't get audio (no screen image, no audio)?

 

I get nothing just black screen but you can tell when I turn the Atari on

that the screen flickers so I know its on the right input source

 

Here's another thought, is the TV's input selected to the

correct format that matches the 800XL (NTSC / PAL) or AUTO?

I never thought of that so I will look into that tomorrow (Tues.)

 

 

You might just be SOL, I absolutely can not get any of my 8-bits

to work on either LCD in the house, in fact I couldn't even get Atari

flashbacks to work on the tv's right... but that's fine because I have

several commodore monitors and a sony pvm that I use.

 

My Atari Flashback works just fine. . . . . . .

 

 

I received my 800XE yesterday and had to switch the input (on the TV's

Option -> Color System Menu) to Auto since the PAL options didn't

display properly....

I will try looking into that tomorrow

Well the only thing I can say is the cable is connected properly from my 800XL to my TV and there is only 1 place for the cable to go in to my TV and 1 place for the cable to go into my 800XL and all I get is a black screen and I am not as tech savy as you people are, even the people that I bought the cable from can't understand why it doesn't work either.

 

I'm going to buy a RCA to HDMI cable or adapter and try that but I'm not sure when that will be so for now I will take a long break from my project. . . . . . .

I bought a cable from UKRetroGamer and it is the correct one that goes from the monitor output to the TV (RCA inputs) but all I get is a black screen any one have any ideas ???

Ok I got the cable and a big thanks to UKRetroGamer but they sent me the wrong cable so I sent them an email and they answered it within minutes and they said they did indeed send me the wrong cable so they said they will send the right one to me no charge so they are a fabulous company, I will update as soon as the new cable comes in the mail.

 

I just wish that Cable and Phone companies had the awesome customers service that UKRetroGamer has and wouldn't life b easier if they did. . . . . . .

My friend showed me his Atari 400 and right after that I went and bought an Atari 800 and fell in love with it and he went and bought an Atari 1200Xl we made tons of games and programs and we had a few all nighters trying to finish some games and programs.
