I didn't really want to talk about Coleco repairs in this thread, but possible tweaks to this composite mod, if possible. Thanks, though. I have two Adams and two CV's. I don't think any of them work right at the moment- various issue.

Then I have to deal with the cranky Colecovision hardware...

Hi guys, I recently got out my old 4-switch Vader that had an old original Cracknell mod in it. It was very overdriven and wavy on modern TV's, so I decided to pull it out and replace it with a simple transistor mod from the RF box wires like this: http://www.made-by-b...php?f=101&t=842 I think this mod is also on AtariAge somewhere, and someone seems to be selling one on eBay. http://www.vintagega...-guide-4switch/ It is very similar to the "Easy 7800 mod" here: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/127926-easier-7800-composite-video-mod/ Even though video is crystal clear, it seems the contrast or brightness is off. If I run Pac-Man, the maze is not yellow, it's brown. The maze background is super-bright blue, instead of darker blue. When I run the game on Stella, it is quite different. The pot inside the 2600 cannot turn the colors anything like that of the emulation. I hooked up my 2600 Jr. with RF and find that it's a lot brighter, but Pac-Man maze still seems "wrong" colored. Am I just spoiled by emulation all these years and the Vader won't look as good, or is this just a bad mod since it's based on the existing RF box signal?

For sheer volume of software, there is no better 80's computer.

I don't really need a physical cart, but can I pay or donate something for making something so cool?

I Am Guessing This Is A NES SMB3 Prototype
R.Cade replied to Atari Rescue Group's topic in Prototypes
Not a prototype, but an early import conversion to NES. There was an import game store in Atlanta in the early 90's that would do stuff like this... -
The "unidentified game from your childhood" thread

Maybe Thexder? -
Obvious printed label... auction appears pulled.

You can also use the 7800 dev BIOS and make your own RAM cartridge for it, but that can be a complicated build.

It's very common to find games where the owner's wrote their name on it.

Very well. Good luck!

Sorry, we all already have modded XBOX's. They cost $10 at Goodwill, plus free hard drives from old PC's to soft mod them. $300 is way too much.

Hey- I bought a bunch of commons from you to fill in some holes in my collection. I didn't know you were a member here. Thanks very much for the help on the shipping.

For variations, I think I may just stop at having one of the text and one of the picture labels unless I get them really cheap or "free" in lots. Label variation collecting is a tough road to go down.... I would also collect Sears, but I almost never see those in the wild- especially picture labels. I am missing most all of them...

I noticed the rarity guide doesn't seem to list all color variants for the Atari games. It is well known that all text label games were available in all colors (red, blue, green, yellow, purple, orange) so they just aren't listed? Also, the picture labels also seem to be in many colors (orange, red, yellow, green [light and dark], blue, purple). I've found a blue and a yellow text Sky Diver recently, so it appears they come in different colors also for the same games... -Pete

Mr. Do! Cartridge, I don't think so.
R.Cade replied to Atari8bitCarts's topic in Atari 8-Bit Computers
The plain PB label is not unprecedented... There are several disk games for the Commodore 64 released with a printed label like this, even in the US. At first I thought they were bootlegs, until several copies showed up over the years. I know there is a disk version of Q*Bert like this for the C64, and a couple others I'd have to dig up. Plain printed label with 'q-bert' all in lower case. -
Mine does something similar, but everything gets slanted and wiggly instead of folding after a bit- I recapped the whole thing and it still has the issue. I'm guessing it's some power supply ripple issue, but I haven't dug further. Let me know if you figure it out on yours.

PAL/NTSC compatibility question - please help!
R.Cade replied to jetset's topic in Classic Console Discussion
That won't work- it will be black and white, as it can't decode a composite PAL signal. It is only in color with an Amiga in PAL mode because that is RGB. -
Yes, humidity will shorten their life- they need climate control. Particleboard will swell and flake, and the electronics will oxidize very quickly.

You can file non-paying bidder after 3 days, I think. After 3 more, you can close it if they don't pay and the fees aren't charged. You can try to sell to the next highest bidder (second chance) or just relist. It's a pain in the ass and a waste of time, but such is eBay. It's not setup for small sellers anymore- they are just trying to set it up for big sellers. The fees are really high and you are not protected at all as a seller if a buyer decides to screw you. In fact, selling is a pain all around. Have you ever tried to sell on Craiglist? My god the people that respond are often a crazy waste of time... They immediately ask what is the lowest price you'll take (what I posted it at!) without seeing it, then they agree to meet and don't show up, then disappear. It's another huge waste of time. My favorite is also the SPAM replies to your ads that say "do you still have the item?", or "what is the condition of the item?" Both are just scammers trying to get your reply e-mail address. Then you will also get the guy that is "out of town, buying it for his sister's birthday". They of course send you a check for more than you are asking, if you'll just send them the rest back. Yeah, right. Fake cashier's check coming to you.

found an Apple II Plus at work, has issues
R.Cade replied to toptenmaterial's topic in Apple II Computers
That's the power supply "crowbaring" or shorting out. You have something in wrong, or you have shorted one or more chips internally. You've made the situation much worse than it was originally, unfortunately. You can carefully remove everything and put it in correctly, or better yet find a friend who knows something about electronics. -
Anyone else own a Star Warrior cocktail by Potomac Mortgage?
R.Cade replied to Video_Invader's topic in Arcade and Pinball
That game looks like a straight text hack of Space Firebird, from Nintendo. It was knocked off by quite a few companies... -
To anyone in the Southeastern United States: I will be at the first VCFSE this year displaying most Commodore computer models and their history. There will be tons of other stuff there from other exhibitors as well, covering most all of early computer technology. http://vintage.org/2013/southeast/ It's in Roswell, Georgia which is just north of Atlanta. Hope to see you there!

No, the 1000 is the original Amiga and the better-made machine. The 500 was the "cost-reduced" version.
