Most VIC-20's look like that on a 1702 unless you adjust the video with the little pot on the inside (of the VIC). Adjust it until the background is nearly white... For whatever reason every one I've had is adjusted wrong from the factory. Maybe they tuned it for the RF output and not the composite.

Bump- also looking for working 810 disk drive...

I am looking to find a reasonably priced 1200XL to add to my collection. It doesn't need to be new in box or anything, just a working one in decent shape, as it will be used for playing and display at computer history events in the Southeast. - Pete Rittwage

It must not be something worth $75, or else the OP would have bought it.

Help me ID this Atari Arcade game from mid 1970's, it's B/W
R.Cade replied to Keatah's topic in Arcade and Pinball
That is a really bizarre background effect. -
The IIc+ is probably worth what you are asking (or more) but the regular IIc, not so much. They go for cheap, typically... ($25 maybe)

NES Toploader with no picture or sound!
R.Cade replied to mtshark7's topic in Classic Console Discussion
If it's broken, an AV mod is not going to "fix" it. You are wasting your time and effort. -
I've found several in collecting C64 originals over the years. Many PAL copies of Gee Bee Air Rally for C64 have a mastering error. It causes the title screen graphics to have glitches, but the game appears fine. I know this from comparing many copies from different sources over the years. Most NTSC copies of Dragon's Lair I/II have the protection track on them, but it isn't checked.

It's classic late 70's/early 80's T&A cheeze, with video games. What's not to like?

Interest Check: Doctor V64 Backup Unit w/32 MB RAB Expansion
R.Cade replied to lisalover1's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Yeah, with Everdrive64 available for only $100 or so, it makes these only a nostalgia thing... I've got several old copiers that are now obsolete too. -
ICADE?...anybody try this thing out?
R.Cade replied to atarilovesyou's topic in Classic Console Discussion
It is nice looking... I like the older model more than the newer because it had more of a late 70's early/80's feel to the art. It's a bluetooth keyboard, essentially, so it works with anything, but there is a not-so-slight delay. OK for some games, too much for others. Pac-Man is OK because you're mostly waiting to get to a turn, but something where fast response is needed (like Galaga) is frustrating. -
Valuation of collections / insurance
R.Cade replied to random7100's topic in Show Us Your Collection!
I had several arcade games that were destroyed in a flood (well, not *destroyed* but you know what happens to particleboard sitting in 2" of water). The agent just asked me what the replacement value was, and gave it to me. I guess you could tell them they were $3,000 in 1982 and let them calculate the depreciation to $1. Now, I said $1000, not $100,000, but they had no trouble and wrote a check. Of course I never found the same games for sale again. -
I really like Q*Bert- the gameplay is fun... I would say it would be nicer if there were more of the enemies- it is kind of sparse. The playfield looked really good to me for the 2600.

It looks like lights, but it's not plugged in so it can't be. It must be an effect from the camera flash?

SOLD OUT: Stealth chip modded PS1 @ $39 each
R.Cade replied to the.golden.ax's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Unfortunately, the PS1 is still worth next to nothing... Maybe in 10 years when that generation wants to relive. -
I used to visit every day, but after server upgrades and forum upgrades, the theme looks strange and it's more difficult to navigate, so I don't anymore. Also, on *this* forum, 1) I don't like the mobile version of the site - so I have to have a browser on my tablet I can set to desktop 2) The logon form/method never saves my logon with a cookie, so I have to go through that odd popup logon every single time.

Were VCS's ever sold sealed? There was no shrinkwrap, but was their identifiable tape-like seals?

Seeking an early-1980s Electronic Arts anti-piracy ad...

Looking for Quality Refurbished Commodore 64
R.Cade replied to ballyalley's topic in Commodore 8-bit Computers
Typical craiglist people. They just disappear. It's really annoying... Also, the vague ones are just spam. If you get mail like "Do you stil have the item?" it is e-mail harvester. Don't reply. You can usually tell if they actually read your ad or not. -
Business Opportunity with Video Game Trader
R.Cade replied to Thomas Sansone's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Nope not us. That was the "other" magazine. OK, sorry about that. It is/was a very similar name... -
I really like this device, but find I don't use it much. It is nearly brand new (from last batch) and includes a 2G SD with some bonus test disks. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 300681421888

Business Opportunity with Video Game Trader
R.Cade replied to Thomas Sansone's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Is this the same company that created a magazine, took subscriptions, and then failed to send them out reliably to subscribers? Good luck with that... -
Did anyone ever rent consoles from Blockbuster?
R.Cade replied to doubleminor's topic in Sega Genesis
I rented a Saturn once with a few games for a weekend to check it out. -
What were these games? Solve the mystery.
R.Cade replied to BillyHW's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Yes, it had giant colorful sprites, but the gameplay was shallow.
