  1. "Erin Plays" did a short video on her YouTube channel about the Collectorvision Phoenix kickstarter to drum up discussion about the console and campaign. CollectorVision Phoenix: Thoughts on the ColecoVision FPGA Console: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X0s-6JqAIA
  2. It drives me nuts watching Mike Matei play B.C.'s Quest for Tires and talk about how it was one of his favorite games back in the day. Yet, when he plays it in both the James and Mike Mondays and his ColecoVision live stream videos he is clueless regarding just about every aspect of the game. In his livestream in particular, at the water crossing stage with The Fat Broad, he kept going right into her club and dying without ever figuring out that she is swinging the club at you and that you have to pass her while the club is in the air and not jump right into it when it is at face level. And in neither video did I see them manually accelerate the game speed once, but made a point to comment "how primitive" and "really awkward" the control scheme is because to jump "you have to press up and then over" to clear objects. Which, yes, if you want to play the entire game at the slowest speed, you will have to move forward in mid air to clear jumps. If you actually bother to manually increase your speed, that's not necessary. They actually said it "takes time to get used to" jumping right before or ducking right before you approach an object. When would you think you would need to jump over a log or a rock? 20 feet before you are near it?? I'm pretty sure I went a decade or so of separation between playing B.C. Quest for Tires, but I was never that ignorant of it's game mechanics when I went back to it.
  3. I don't think it's that much of a stretch to think that the nickname assigned to a person with a poor reputation would be intended to have negative connotations itself. But, I did say that "I could be wrong". It's hard to decipher intent through text. I did leave open the possibility that I might have been being overly sensitive for reasons I mentioned. https://patch.com/new-jersey/eastbrunswick/mtvs-jersey-shore-ruining-the-states-reputation-one-b54072f06e6
  4. I'm from New Jersey. You guys are substituting "Jersey" in place of referencing Cardillo's name, as if referencing the state itself is some sort of put-down against him. I could be wrong, but that's how it comes off. Anyway, it rubs me the wrong way in the same way as when people refer to Coleco Holdings (aka River West Brands/Dormitus Brands) as just plain "Coleco" as if they are the same company or hold any ties to the Coleco Industries from the 80's. The cast of the "Jersey Shore" are not representative of the state of New Jersey. I always found it ironic that the majority of the cast of that show were actually from New York in the first place, yet when people from out of state think of New Jersey, those are the people they think of first and base their impressions of the entire state from. Just wanted to put that out there since I noticed how commonplace it was becoming in this thread.
  5. If you don't find anyone looking to sell just the overlays, here is a pair with cart I saw on ebay for $9.85 total (free shipping): https://www.ebay.com/itm/Mouse-Trap-Colecovision-1982-Cartridge-w-Controller-Inserts/332720632404?epid=56229782&hash=item4d77b1f254%3Ag%3Aa%7EMAAOSwY3tbSiUz&_nkw=ColecoVision+Mouse+Trap+overlays&rt=nc And a quick search came up with them for sale at $2 each on Atari2600.com: http://www.atari2600.com/ccp7/index.php?app=ecom&ns=prodshow&ref=Mouse-Trap-Overlay-PROD2131&sid=lwh9v6nhu4zx90emcdl8g1kp5fqxwn6h
  6. Just my luck that I've been checking the store for these since mentioned in a Team Pixelboy update last year, and when I see the announcement, Battle of Hoth is already sold out. Awesome to know that more will be available though. I have put in my wishlist. Will buy as soon as available.
  7. River West Brands/Dormitus Brands/Coleco Holdings LLC hasn't pioneered anything. If they were able to squat on Pan Am's trademark, it wouldn't make them "pioneers of aviation".
  8. I was confident that the only ones I have seen on ebay in the past were over $150 for sure, but $350... wow!
  9. I actually offered that person $75 for it about 2 years ago when the asking price was $599, and they declined. To my benefit, a much better looking one came along about six months later. My winning bid on it was not much more than what I had offered for the one that was in worse shape.
  10. I was fortunate that when I had an itch to get an Adam a couple of years ago, there was one available on the site I think you were referring to, but with a local pick-up option. I happened to be on vacation at the time, and was able to pick it up on my drive back home without having to go too much out of the way.
  11. I bought the Zaxxon and Donkey Kong Jr arcade cabinet boxed Adam games, but it was after I bought an Adam. I was decades late to the party on both counts. I had a ColecoVision as a kid, but never knew about the Adam until many years later. The mid-80's home computer in my household was a TRS-80 Color Computer 2. I haven't played Temple of Apshai, but my older brother and I would play Gateway to Apshai on Coleco Vision frequently when we were kids. I still enjoy going back to it on occasion today.
  12. Sorry to bump a 5 year old thread, but was it eventually determined that it was impossible to do the game in the style (arcade version) of the screenshot? I see that Collectorvision released a port of the MSX version in 2016. But, does Opcode still have plans for an Arcade version, or was that scrapped all together?
  13. The following Team Pixelboy Games do not require the SGM to be played on Adam: Dragon's Lair (SGM not required on Adam) Zaxxon Super Game (SGM not required on Adam) Buck Roger's Super Game (SGM not required on Adam) Mecha-8 (SGM Enhances music, but not required) Mecha-9 (SGM Enhances music, but not required) Subroc Super Game (SGM not required on Adam) Super Pac-Man (SGM not required on Adam) Knight Lore (SGM not required on Adam) Cold Blood (SGM not required on Adam) Shouganai (SGM not required on Adam)
  14. Oh, that makes sense then. Screw that knock-off. I'm happy to have been in on OpCode's 3rd run through the Atari Age store here.
  15. Wow, that looks awesome. Nice work!
  16. Wow, somebody got an amazing deal in that case. If I didn't have an SGM, I'd be super jelly!
  17. A 1985 computer graphically more impressive than a 1983 (Famicom) home console? You don't say... Amiga introductory price: US$1,295 + US$300 (monitor) NES introductory price: $179 (US Deluxe Set)
  18. None of your analogies work in the context you are applying them. The Coleco Industries from the 80's that created the ColecoVision and later went bankrupt, has not suddenly "come back" trying to make money off of retro collectors and hobbyists. A branding company who scoops up and assumes ownership of zombie IP is the one claiming the rights to all things Coleco now. The Greenberg family that ran Coleco Industries are not River West Brands or Dormitus Brands or whatever it is that calls themselves Coleco Holdings today. There is no "Biological Father" involved with Coleco Holdings. That's just what they want you to think when you hear their bs "Coleco Is Back" slogan. I wish that people would stop referring to Coleco Holdings as "Coleco" even as an abbreviation, because it only serves to perpetuate that misconception to those who are not "in the know".
  19. Dungeons of Daggorath is one of my all-time favorite Color Computer games (right behind Downland). I had never heard of Castle of Tharoggad until many, many years later. Our local Radio Shack didn't stock many games. Also, we had a Color Computer 2, so I was unfamiliar with the CoCo3 or any of it's library in my youth. Our collection consisted of Downland, Dungeons of Daggorath, Dragon Fire, Demon Attack, Canyon Climber, Stellar Life Line, Pinball, Color Baseball, Chess, & Pooyan (on cassette). There wasn't a game in that bunch that I didn't enjoy. For my older brother & I, this was our main gaming system in the years between Coleco Vision (82-84) and NES (88-). Anyway, when I began re-buying my old collection recently, I was excited to discover that one of my favorite games had gotten a sequel. And then I played it. It pales in comparison to its predecessor in every way. I can't believe how badly they messed with such an amazing formula.
  20. My all-time favorite Color Computer game. My older brother and I used to play this game all the time back in the day. We never finished it though. Looking at that map, I think Chamber 7 is the furthest I'd ever been. Thanks for posting it. I still do go back and play this on occasion. We didn't have a disk drive for our Color Computer 2, so I never knew that this game had a sequel called "Cave Walker" until many years later.
  21. This guy has a $200+ mark-up on games that are readily available from Good Deal Games http://www.gooddealgames.com/inventory/Colecovision.html. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Home-brew-Colecovision-So-You-Want-To-Be-A-Knight/142434539949?hash=item2129c299ad:g:9B0AAOSw~e5ZWrXM $250 on eBay vs. $42.75 from Good Deal Games https://www.ebay.com/itm/Home-Brew-Colecovision-Adam-Memotech-MTX-Game/142434573757?hash=item2129c31dbd:g:I18AAOSwvflZWsA8 $250 on eBay vs. $42.75 from Good Deal Games
  22. Rats! I ordered 8 budget games, not 10.
