Teaser for what I have been working on...

I don’t see the point of this mod. Gut a likely working TI only to turn it into an emulator machine which fits into a much smaller case? Like gutting a working jukebox and turning it into a clothes dryer. At first glance I was hoping for a true TI laptop.

Looks like the Doryt Systems mystery item is a printer interface based on this response from the folks at Goodwill: "Good morning and unfortunately we cant find out by looking at it. It states on it parallel output and para print 18 a. have a great day!"

I’d like to see how this is done. Something for beginners who struggle a little at skills such as the dreaded de-soldier. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Is it this thing? Says it’s a 4K output. Will this also work with 1080 HDTVs? Excuse my lack of knowledge here. Didn’t see anything except talk of 4K output. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

The Atarisoft games were made by a creative video game company. Not surprised you liked their stuff. Atari was so good at writing game software TI decided to lock them out of the ship as it sank. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

Chisholm trail has nothing to do with: Texas, the actual Chisholm Trail, rustling, driving cattle, horses, sheep. This is a space game dressed in cowboy boots. The manual is bizarre as it describes events that have nothing to do with what’s actually onscreen. I like the game despite. The Attack was an arcade port? Hmm...didn’t know that one. I’m guessing plenty of Canadians live south of your neck of the woods. In Detroit they drive south to visit Canada. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I ordered a small LCD because I needed something portable for the VAST meetings. It’s like two-man Festwest with donuts every month in PHX.

Terrible Old TI-99/4A Games You Probably Never Heard Of

This is funny as there seems to be a ZeroZap revival going on here despite the complete lack of gameplay. Looking back I’m guessing this was probably interesting to Milton Bradley people whom mostly designed and played traditional board games. If you somehow missed out on playing a real computer based arcade game by Sept 1979, this may actually seem like fun. It’s like a game for people with no desire to build gaming skills. Like playing the slots in Vegas. A game of chance. Something that won’t ever challenge you is comforting in a way. This would be so much better with a breakout style paddle at the bottom of the screen. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

I tried this game based on blackbox’s recommendation. The graphics and sound are actually not that bad. I like the scoreboard animation and the crisp MB logo + game title at the top. Looks interesting at first. The problems start when gameplay begins. ZeroZap is pinball without flippers. Am I missing something? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -

Terrible Old TI-99/4A Games You Probably Never Heard Of

After really enjoying the handheld Mattel Football back in the 1970s I came upon Odyssey2 Football. That two-player action game was awesome for its time! Played and enjoyed it hundreds of times with my friends. Then one friend got Intellivision which had a mind blowing rendition of Football. Again, played it hundreds of times and derived much pleasure from the experience. Lots of action plus strategy. Then I purchased the TI home computer and soon saved up enough money for — FOOTBALL. Discovered it was some 1971 mainframe teletype style statistics turn-based “game” clone with ugly graphics. Lipstick on a dated pig. The sports equivalent of the 1973 Hunt the Wumpus TI conversion. One of the all-time disappointments in gaming for me. I played it because I paid for it. Zero joy derived. So my vote is for FOOTBALL. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro -
F18A again I ordered the 10” 1080 model w HDMI and composite inputs: https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F273229239752 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Composite looked much better the second time I tried it out. Not really that bad compared to F18A after all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

And then there’s this: https://youtu.be/BSuBWe2hr3E Probably the #1 retro system in need of a modern third-part controller solution.

IMHO the original controllers are so godawful even when repaired and fully functional. I use PC joysticks and gamepads via the Bohoki adapter available for around $12 each: http://atariage.com/forums/topic/268574-some-more-15-pin-gameport-pc-to-5200-adapters/ PC gameport controllers are plentiful on eBay and at Goodwills in the USA. 100% better than 35+ year old badly designed game-wrecking Atari controllers. Fair to say the Mateos 7800 solution is a giant A$$ pain compared to AtariMax cards for other systems such as the 5200? I’d say so. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

The composite cable image looks good on a CRT. I’d agree with that. Especially compared to RF. I’m just ruined by that F18A image with an LCD. It’s perfect...really just perfect. I’ll post a few shots here of my 10” LCD hooked to the TI F18A vs the composite look. It’s dramatic. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I can only get the Mateos 7800 multi to work with Windows7. Windows10 — no. Something about Win10 writing hidden files to the card whenever you eject it. It’s quirky. I keep a Win7 system around just for the Mateos 7800 Multi. Probably my most labor intensive and least satisfying multi of all. Better than nothing. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
