  1. I hear that’s an issue with RXB as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  2. Beige is the Devil! Curse you Sparky! They turn yellow and symbolize cost reductions and (in some cases) locking out software. The TI-99/4is arguably the best looking machine of its era. Black and Brushed Al-You-Min-E-Um! Brilliant really! They're the ONLY machines from the era that look as good as new without any Retrobrite BS necessary. IBM's PC was.....beige. The Beige TI-99/4A is basically TI management's surrender flag.
  3. I like the annual yearbook style summary idea of from Sinphaltimus. It'd provide a nice archive of annual activity for anyone looking back in the future as well. Of course, the CD is cool yet the Jedi is correct about ISO archives being better for current day ops.
  4. Get the Atari adapter and a nice Genesis game pad. They’re Atari compatible and of course only one button works which is all you need. 5. Thank you for the Mouser switch tip! I just picked up my first 7800 today with an iffy pause switch.

  7. Let’s hold that great idea to see if I can meet that deadline. :-) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  8. ^^^^Worst controller ever? Seen in Austin, Texas. ON/OFF light switches for each direction and bottom. It was impossible to use yet this girl had somehow learned how. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  9. Harry's BASIC compiler (not to be confused with the also wonderful XB256) is an excellent springboard, or at very least an instructional bridge, to Assembly. With this compiler I was able to remove many aged cobwebs from the past. It really helped me get reacquainted with the following concepts: A. What is Source code vs Object code? B. The difference between a Compiler and an Assembler. C. Familiarization with the TI-99 E/A cart which led to reading the EA manual. D. Familiarization with third-party editors. E. Using MERGE file formats. F. Loading and Running object files. Working with the compiler also led to learning about converting files to .bin format for SD card devices. All great stuff! Thanks again to Harry Wilhelm for this opportunity to learn while coding faster BASIC programs. This compiler has provided me with countless days of retro-computing bliss! 10. Wondering if those files are sitting around on some internet archive somewhere? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  11. Hey Lee, What's the safe rage in lower memory for BASIC variable storage? - james Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  12. Project Idea: TI-99/4A running on Raspberry Pi. Cheap and easy considering a few here have it all worked out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  13. Hey Rich, Are these handwritten notes scanned and archived anywhere? I can't remember reading this anywhere else? -j Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  14. That Star Trek rolling the score over video was excellent. Couldn't help but notice how Photons don't play into your gameplay -- AT ALL!!! They did a good job of copying the arcade cabinet (Greg... sigh!) version yet this game screams for some enhancements. IMHO the Nomad boss is kind of a pussy. I mean really. He avoids you and never kills you?!?! The game doesn't feel finished. That said, the roll-over scoring video was nice! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  15. We'd need a few six-button games too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  16. "So there is an apparent race in the VDP..." WHAT'S A "RACE IN THE VDP" SUPPOSED TO MEAN? Well... this PM helped clear things up: Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  17. Yes, I was misunderstanding this point. Thanks for recognizing my error. I thought with the interrupt ON method we were somehow attempting to capture an end of frame as it happens. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  18. This conversation is adding clarity to the cloudy situation between my ears. Thank you! Of course, any additional clarification efforts are encouraged and appreciated in advance. -j Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

  20. ...and, as Lee says, >83C0 - >83DF are off limits if I elect to use LIMI 2 for the smooth-scrolling CRU bit timing methodology, right? Vs using the less reliable VDP-centric timing methodology with LIMI 0, where >8300 - >83FF are free and clear of disruption? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  21. On p.404-406 of the EA manual we see a detailed description of the Scratchpad usage with TI BASIC, console floating-point routines, GPL, interpreter, KSCAN, etc. A question I have for Matthew is just how much of that CPU RAM is free for variable usage while using this thread's approach to speed optimized game programming? More specifically, may I use >8300->83FF as needed if I avoid interfacing with BASIC and the console routines? Thanks for your patience on this line of questioning. It's confusing me a bit. -james Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
  22. Awesome selection for this month's contest btw. Interesting to see the many versions available. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro
