ARO2, [PM sent] Also, are you able to comment on any current interest from you and or Philip to continue the ATARI Alternate Reality series installments (Arena, Wilderness, etc) some of us would so lovingly support via Kickstarter/fundraiser campaign where you both had complete artistic control to create the games based off your original intended visions? Some off have been hoping to see such a thing come to fruition now for 30 + years. Any chance that creative spark for this series still exists within its creators?

I've read the guides, yet struggle comprehending the HOW and such of actually making the MD+ games. Some of the games like Moonwalker play even better with the real Jackson tunes in there. I don't really see a 'scene' for this community and am hoping someone will do a step by step youtube (or at least visual) tutorial. Also, has such a tool been developed to make these creations on other systems like the TG16, SNES, NeoGeo etc.?

Just wanted to bring this thread back, not only to thank Philip Price (perhaps he still checks in on this forum) for creating something that is still a wonderful childhood memory; also I wanted to offer my pledge of support for $100+ should there ever be interest in re-releasing The City and The Dungeon on the Atari 800/xl. Forget ANY cancelled TV shows... Alternate Reality stopping after The Dungeon remains for me the most unfinished story of all creative works where one wonders what could have been. - It would be nice to give Philip the financial backing if he never received as such initially, and get a temperature for the fandom and demand for AR products. - It would give us a chance to relive them with reproductions of the books, artwork and all. - ***It would hopefully get AR fans rallied in support to then kickstart Philip and Gary to reunite to independently continue the series where they left off. Of course it would hinge on the creative side wanting and willing to do so, and having the time someday to do it (life gets in the way). Philip, I can state that your two games in the series combined with Gary's music was so influential on my brother and I to where we STILL hold on to this dream of your original vision for the followups (Arena, Wilderness, etc) to ONE DAY become [ahem]... REALITY. If you ever decide to continue the series, I'd support fundraising campaigns for each project.

Question: was the DVD made from brand new sealed copies or from decent quality but previously used ones? Also, are the video files floating around used in Singe from the DVD or from separate uploads?

Does anyone know where to find this rocker power switch?

UPDATE That was indeed the issue and now it works as it did before. Nice machine! -
So here we are in August 2020 and my OP needs updating. The Rhea/Phoebe is out for me. That leaves the modern trio: Nothing against the Satiator nor its creator, but I can't justify the price regardless... in MY situation I am ONLY going to play from storage. (Kudos to the Satiator's package and artwork looking cool though). That leaves me with two current options: MODE vs. Fenrir. The Fenrir is half the price of the MODE, so that is a huge plus, and if my Saturn is not compatible with the Fenrir, I can get one that is. However, if both devices were equal in price, regardless of what price, what does the Fenrir have over the MODE and vice versa? I don't want my love of the MegaSD to interfere with "what is" vs. what should be. I will probably use a 256gGB SD on either device I choose, so the MODE's ability to load from SSD/SATA hard drives doesn't factor in. A side by side comparison video would be great if anyone has done this? Also, for those with my scenario in regards to DREAMCAST: I have a GDEMU clone. Does an upgrade to the MODE make sense if selling off the clone GDEMU? MODE supports artwork but the navigation is slow and hopefully will get a firmware update. Is there reason to dump the GDEMU and or clone?

There is already a pre-order for sale on Ebay for $650. In one sense, I'd be happy if the next pre-order is many months from now just to save up for it better. Is anyone else surprised that the dock only comes in black when they are selling a white Pocket? Which one did people get (or attempt to get)- black or white? Since the OG Gameboy was beige, one could go either way. I like the black thinking scratches and marks won't show and it looks like the MegaSG. The white could look like my DS though.
-
Wow - what a small window.. your order in 6 minutes went, but mine in 8 failed being out of stock. So they sold out somewhere in the range of 6-8 minutes. Geez what if you had a typo on your mailing address while frantically racing to the payment button?
-
Good point on all the accessories. How would anyone even be able to click every accessory and check out in under 8 minutes? That is Neo Matrix speed. I hope this wasn't a temperature test to see how many people were going to buy one.
-
I tried as soon as pre-orders opened and had the same issues as others. The card was declined and out of stock - IN UNDER 8 MINUTES! This means it could have sold out in even half that time. I couldn't enter my info fast enough. Hmm- if Mister gets a portable shell and IPS (I hear this is being worked on) to essentially make it a portable like a Pocket, it already has GB, GBC and GBA as well as Sega GG. All Mister would need is NGPC and Lynx and we may be set. I like Kevtris and his amazing work - It is no slant to him saying it's a shame it is getting harder to get access to his creations.

My Saturn has an issue with the 'door open' screen. I've opened the saturn, tried putting a clip on the internal switch that controls it, bent the metal leg to adjust it, but have yet to make a permanent final fix. Do any of the ODE options just automatically bypass this 'door open' screen so I won't need to worry about it?

MadLittlePixel just reviewed the Wingman SD. I'm surprised I may be the first to ask: If USB, does this mean instead of the official Sega keyboard, you can use ANY usb based keyboard? If so, can we play Typing Of The Dead with an IBM Model M keyboard for better typing prowess or the convenience of a wireless option like the Logitech Wii keyboard?

Tauon Electronics - Tauon PC-1 (Have you heard of this?)
seastalker replied to seastalker's topic in Emulation
Just like putting a pi in a professional arcade stick, it seems convenient to play computer emulators built in to ANY keyboard at first glance. The layout is not the best. I have a Speccy usb keyboard and hopefully soon an Amiga 1200/keyrah setup soon and would rather play computer emulators with such devices. -
There is a new computer in a keyboard that is Android OS based that comes pre-loaded with emulators: Tauon PC-1 Though I probably won't get one, it is neat to look at. Maybe some others here would like to know about it.

[With a slight wave of hand] - These aren't the tacos you're looking for... Now, I just want to be first in saying: HAPPY 3RD ANNIVERSARY "New Atari Console that Ataribox?" thread!! We need a Goochman interview party with tacos all around just to ask... Did you know what you would start by uttering the words: "Woodgrain is back in style it seems..............." We should make T-shirts of this phrase because Goochman clearly had Nostradamus quality accuracy by adding to the words so many extra "............................................."

In 7 days, we will celebrate the three year anniversary of this thread!

[Quoting myself, I know...] I now have both remaining titles working. It seems these two UNL games need their own Arcade card "cd_bios.rom" file in each of the games' root directory. Also, that add-on board for possible 32x and Saturn Mister support is most interesting. In theory, would it need a sacrificed 32x by desoldering it's special chips? What hypothetical hardware would be needed for Dreamcast/Naomi arcade support?

Thank you all! I will report back when it arrives if I am successful. -
It would also be nice to see how they stack against the new 8bitdo ones. Maybe they have wired mode as well? In other news: CPS1 core by Jotego is now public! Also.... if I ever had TWO mister setups, one would be in my upcoming Amiga 1200 new case/keyboard/keycaps setup for computers but if I had one for a living room build mainly for consoles, having built in Saturn controller ports (or SNES for other people), would be amazing... So... Now THIS is an 'Ataribox' I can be proud of!

I had a similar issue ONE time when testing cd games on the Mister where the screen went black and cropped to a strage aspect ratio of the bios screen. Resetting fixed it fine. I am happy to report that I put all my bin/cues tediously into their own folders and tested EVERY game I have to see if it boots... The handful that did not were bad rips, so I replaced them with REDUMP ones which now load fine. I'm happy to say that when using "[CD] Super CD-ROM System (J) (v3.0)", ALL games load up for me (even the small amount of bin/ISO ones!!) except two UNL games: AV Tanjou (Japan) (Unl) and Hi-Leg Fantasy (JP) trying SEVERAL copies of the games. Anyone else have this issue? I even tried with REDUMP discs and using ALT1 and ALT2 of the former. Are there no good rips available? Not likely. Compatibility issue with the core? Possible if they are Unl titles. By 'every' game, I mean from my complete albeit 3 years old Hyperspin databases. That won't include unplayable games unless knowing Japanese, non-game titles or any very recent homebrew I may have missed. I don't know if others have tested every such PCE-CD game with the core. Hopefully my journey helps the core authors from a Q/A or testing standpoint. I'm VERY happy with the core status and features and I don't know what needs to be ironed out. I'd have to find a Terraonion cart at a damn good price to justify it now. ADDED TO POST: Am I the only one that finds Mister's auto-fire feature both non-intuitive and awkward? If I step away from Mister for too long, I forget HOW to set the buttons up and manually search the Mister main page to find THIS PART? Could this feature be set in each core's menu? Most times I fumble with the adjustment of miliseconds and toggle between 100ms and OFF. The PCE core would most benefit from this in the OSD and Bonk's Adventure is my go to for testing, due to his rapid spin like on real TG16 controllers. Is there a place to put in a feature request for this?

I would LOVE a 32x FPGA solution by hook or by crook. This is not because of the small library of games but because if you ever work on the hardware (open one up and by design it looks like it is on life support with factory patch wires) - you will shorten your life a bit from getting pissed off. I'd love a Mister core or a compact standalone about the size of a sonic and knuckles cart that would work with real hardware (Genesis, MegaSG, even the Nomad!) and didn't need wiring nor extra power cables. Sonic and Knuckles flap on top to put the MegaSD in and you have the whole library. Okay fine, I'll buy the adapter to plug the non-real FPGA 32x cart in the top and the Mega SD in the side expansion. I am sure a 32x solution will appear even if not tomorrow.
